    Internship: Litigation & Mediation (Pretoria x1, Polokwane x1, Thohoyandou x1)

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    Work based exposure may include the following: 

    • Administrative work.
    • Drafting of correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, notices, applications, etc.
    • Practical application of court rules in practice.
    • Observation of, and assistance given to State Attorneys when appearing in Court.
    • Support State Attorneys in Litigation and dispute resolution.
    • Filing notices
    • Service of documents and Notice to Plaintiff’s Attorneys.
    • Judgment monitoring and case outcomes reporting.
    • Attendance of and upskilling with continuous learning professional development programs (i.e LEAD & LexisNexis)
    • Filing Bolls of Costs upon receipt
    • Provide support to oppose Taxations.
    • Preparations for appearance and appear before the Taxing Master.
    • Filing of outcomes and uploading on Litigation Management System.
    • Uploading to, and maintenance of Case lines profiles (region specific to Pretoria & Johannesburg)

    Qualifications and other Requirements

    • Certified copy of Grade 12/Matric certificate
    • Certified copy of Bachelor of Laws (LLB)/ BA in Law/ BCom in Law
    • Certified copy of your ID
    • Certified copy of Academic transcript (applications without transcripts will be eliminated)

    Specialist: Technology and Digital Procurement Support

    Key Performance Areas

    Provide ICT Expertise on Project Requirements or Specifications in Line wit RAF ERP

    • Examine avoidable options for the procurement of Goods, services and work required through the procurement process.
    • Package options for ITC requirements to achive economies of scale.
    • Assess ICT project requirements and provide recommendations/ reviews for efficiency .
    • Analyse ICT projects on the procurement plan and ensure that projects of similar nature are consolidated for efficiency.
    • Analyse tranversal contracts in line with RAF ICT projects and provide value add recommendations/inputs.

    Ensure ICT Procurement Compliance

    • Conduct market analysis on the current trends and or replacements of the requirements including recommending particpation on similar projects as arranged by Sita or national treasury for RAF cost efficiency.
    • Compare solutions, pricing, sustainability factors, and technical maturity.
    • Validate technical alignment with enterprise architecture and existing systems.
    • Ensure risks, constraints, and integration considerations are captured and compliant.

     Risk Management

    • Identify risk related to poorly defined ICT requirements.
    • Assess the likelihood of cost overruns, scope creep.
    • Analyse trends across quality assurance findings to identify emerging risks pattern.

    Policy Review and Implementation

    • Align tenders with enterprise ICT strategy.
    • Keep up to date with effective policy and practice execution strategies.
    • Assist BU’s in developing sourcing strategy in line with DMP.

    Reporting

    • Report on quality assurance findings and outcomes.
    • Report on the adequacy and effectiveness of ICT procurement processes, controls, and documentation.
    • Identify process weaknesses, gaps, or inconsistencies across the procurement lifecycle.
    • Provide trend analysis on recurring quality issues

    Stakeholder Management

    • Coordinate stakeholder participation in governance structures.
    • Enable stakeholders to make defensible and strategically sound ICT procurement decisions.
    • Manage stakeholder disagreements to ensure that procurement progress is not delayed.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree/ Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain Management/ ICT related qualification.
    • Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) would be an added advantage.
    • Relevant 5 - 7 years’ experience in ICT procurement environment.
    • Experience in conducting quality assurance in the procurement of ICT goods and services.
    • Experience with SAP Procurement module or similar ERP systems.

    Senior Manager: Actuarial Quantification Management & Claims Risk

    Key Performance Areas

    Calculation Models for “Loss of Earnings” and “Loss of Support” Benefit for Motor Vehicle Claims

    • Build, develop and assess models for loss of income compensation calculations and reports using appropriate techniques to ensure that the data is accurate, and model processes are effective, efficient, high quality, well documented and verifiable.
    • Supports the review of key insurance risk models, including actuarial quantifications, budget and forecasting, and insurance risk capital models.
    • Standardize the calculations reports to Actuarial professional guidance.
    • Ensure credible calculation valuation report.
    • Manage the whole loss of income actuarial calculations and reporting process.

    Research and Development on Loss of Income Calculation Methodologies and Models

    • Ensure research on state-of-the-art modelling and calculation techniques and methodologies.
    • Develop and ensure implementation of new and state of art calculation techniques and methodologies.
    • Review and update underlying calculation assumptions and inputs to ensure relevance and appropriateness.
    • Ensure provision of reports on results based on updated models.

    Actuarial Expert Advice to the Internal and External Stakeholders

    • Ensure correct interpretation of medical expert’s reports and other professionals’ reports.
    • Ensure review on loss of Income calculations and research done by internal colleagues, other experts and external actuarial service providers.

    Accident Data Management and Forecasting

    • Develop models to forecast the number of accidents and claims.
    • Oversee accident data capturing, analysis and reporting from different sources.

    Strategic Planning Financial Projections Report

    • Provide executives with the expenditure and revenue projections for short- and long-term planning purposes.
    • Run model for Strategic Plan results.
    • Produce necessary report on findings and results.
    • Oversee and manage all related process.

    Strategy Development and Operational Planning

    • Guide the development and implementation of the departmens strategy and plan that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives.
    • Guide implementation of the overall strategic plan for the department.
    • Guide the implementation of specific key performance indicators and measures against outcomes detailed in the departmental strategic plans.

    Policy Review and Implementation

    • Manage, monitor and control the department expense budget.

    Reporting

    • Ensure correct data and reports are extracted from IT claim system(s).
    • Ensure provision of results in statistical and graphical form to provide credible monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual management reporting.
    • Ensure preparation and submission of Regulation reports.
    • Report quarterly on progress with implementation of operational plans.
    • Ensure development of functional reporting systems, project or performance reporting for management.
    • Ensure the development of reports/ policies/ procedures and guide the process through the alignment of these documents to the overall RAF’s Strategy.

    Actuarial Investigations

    • Oversee investigations on various aspects of the loss of income calculation inputs including, distributions of income by age group, geographical location, employment sectors, etc.
    • Ensure investigation on potential impact of various assumptions underlying loss of income calculations such as discount rates, mortality and morbidity rates, contingencies, earnings progression, inflation, taxation, remarriage, inheritance and accelerated benefits, etc.
    • Oversee expense investigation support for the RAF budgeting purposes.
    • Ensure provision of appropriate reports for different relevant users of investigation results.
    • Oversee that the actuarial investigation results are correctly interpreted and applied.
    • Quality assures all the claims to eliminate all the fraudulent claims

    Risk Management

    • Champion risk management in the Operations division.
    • Provide guidance to Operations management on identification of risk and process of mitigating such risk.
    • Provide interface between Operations Division and Enterprise Risk Management Department of RAF.
    • Support Operations department in reviewing and monitoring of their risk mitigating tasks or measures.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Maintain proactive and progressive relationships with key stakeholders.
    • Communicate with all levels of stakeholder contact.
    • Delegate inquiries and requests for information from both internal and external stakeholders.

    People Management

    • Ensure the motivation, cohesiveness, and alignment of the organization’s team members.
    • Ensure Implementation of human capital processes and procedures to control or regulate workplace conflict and/or institute corrective measures and consultation processes to address deviations from standards.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree/ Advanced Diploma in Actuarial Science/ Mathematics related qualification.
    • Postgraduate qualification in Actuarial Science/ Mathematics related qualification.
    • Qualified Associate/Fellow Actuary of (ASSA/IFoA/SoA/CAS/SoA) or any other internationally recognized Actuarial Board).
    • Relevant 9 - 10 years’ experience in an Actuarial environment of which 3 years must have been on a management level.
    •  At least 3 years’ extensive experience in loss of income damages quantification and calculation models.
    • Proven experience in signing off actuarial reports for Damages and Compensation.
