REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Registered Nurse qualification from a recognised nursing institution.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience (rehabilitation or acute care preferred).
• Thorough knowledge of nursing practices and the SANC code of conduct.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Flexible and willing to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Valid South African ID or valid work permit (if not a South African citizen).
• Clear criminal record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver safe, ethical, and high-quality nursing care aligned with SANC standards.
• Develop and implement individualised nursing care plans.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the clinical team.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
• Support the physical rehabilitation process to help patients achieve optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists.
• Foster a therapeutic and supportive environment for both patients and their families.

REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING 

• Degree in Physiotherapy 
• Current HPSCA registration and malpractice insurance 
• Up to date CPD status 
• >5 years’ experience in a rehabilitation environment 
• Special interest / expertise within neurology and orthopaedics 

KEY COMPETENCIES  

• Provide physiotherapy interventions to patients referred to the facility. 
• Determine clinical diagnosis and provide physiotherapy treatment plan indicated as an autonomous practitioner. 
• Diagnosis, assessment and management of people with disabling conditions on an in-patient and out-patient basis. 
• Develop appropriate packages of care, giving clinical and professional advice to patients, Carers and other healthcare professionals. 
• Responsible for physiotherapy treatment. 
• To be a source of expertise and advice for support staff. 
• Available to work on a weekend / public holiday on rotation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedule and minute therapy meetings - coordinate initial progress and discharge sessions prepare agendas and action logs.
• Clinical records administration - Update and capture patient data and assist with letters of motivation submissions.
• Billing and statistics support - collate daily billing, verify totals and flag discrepancies.
• Stock and equipment logistics - monitor therapy consumables, raise purchase requests and track service dates.
• Frontline liaison - act as the first point of contact for patient and family queries, ensuring compassionate, culturally sensitive communication.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

•  Matric (grade 12) plus a certificate or diploma in office or healthcare administration (advantageous).
• Plus -2 years administrative experience, preferably in a hospital or physical rehabilitation setting.
• Computer literacy.
• Exposure to medical billing, stock control or Lean environment will be an asset.
