    Maintenance Lead - Maydon Wharf

    WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

    • Preventive maintenance on all process related equipment,
    • Basic repairs and ensure efficient operation of that equipment and production of a quality product. Perform all work in compliance with established safety, GMP and UMS standards.
    • Respond to breakdowns and other issues brought to the attention of Maintenance (by supervision, operators or other personnel) as needed during operations, in a way that minimizes operational delays.
    • Troubleshoot, fine tune or adjust equipment to insure proper operation.
    • Routine visual inspection and/or testing of equipment and structures to identify and report any need for scheduled repairs.
    • Interpret and work from schematics and electrical drawings.
    • Installation and alignment of machinery and equipment.
    • Participate in continuous improvement (WCM,TPM,UMS or similar activity).
    • Follow established department and plant procedures, including (but not limited to) those related to preventive maintenance systems, obtaining parts, and taking corrective action when hazardous or potential loss conditions are found.
    • Keeps tools, equipment and work area safe, clean and orderly. At all times work safely around equipment, tools and co-workers.
    • Other duties as requested by supervision work with and assist Artisans and operations personnel as needed.

    Experiences & Qualifications

    • Minimum N4 qualification plus trade test OR National Diploma/Btech in Mechanical Engineering
    • Full understanding of pumps , gearboxes , compressors and mills
    • Knowledge of wrapping machines will be a KEY advantage.
    • Must have 5 years’ experience in manufacturing preferably with FMCG exposure in manufacturing process and packing.(Soap making experience will be advantageous)
    • Ability to perform all duties associated with position, with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to perform work safely and maintain work areas in a manner that does not present a hazard to self, co-workers or products.
    • Ability to recognize conditions that would have a negative impact on production equipment  or other facility operations and take appropriate follow-up action.
    • Ability to work from drawings and sketches, repair and operating manuals, and written and oral instructions.
    • Must provide tools meeting minimum requirements (as determined by supervisor) and maintain tools in a safe condition.
    • Experience in general plant process diagnostics, repair and maintenance, or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge.

    SHE Intern - Lords View

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in updating all SHE procedures as required
    • Assist in reviewing and conducting Risk Assessments/ Aspects and Impacts
    • Assist in incident investigations

    Process Engineering Intern

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Complete all learnership requirements as stipulated by Unilever, including but limited to training attendance, assessments completion, project completion, logbook completion and presentations as needed
    • The Industrial Engineer role is critical to the development of our factories to World Class, which means zero defects, zero waste and zero losses. 
    • She/he will apply extensively the full range of Focused and Quality Improvement methods and tools to counter losses identified in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost Deployment, Customer Service and Logistics.  The Cost Deployment pillar will be populated with data built up through application of the Managing Manufacturing Performance Code, which is key to ensuring focus on key losses.
    • Working directly with the line crews daily. The Industrial Engineer also acts as the technical trainer for line teams and provides coaching in phenomena identification, root cause analysis and the establishment of countermeasures. Validation of all process improvements and the establishment of revised basic conditions on the line. A core deliverable is to eliminate losses and wastes and increase the stability of the line to support the transition of traditional line teams to semi-autonomous teams
    • Follow SOP procedures as needed within the operation assigned to
    • Conform to all site rules governing safety of self and others, quality and code of business principles

    KEY REQUIREMENTS

    • Completed degree or National Diploma in Chemical/ Industrial Engineering
    • Use of computer software programs – Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word is essential
    • Good communication skills both written and verbal – proficient in English

    Manex & Capability Lead

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop masterplan: Support the factory to develop Factory Masterplan in coordination with Finance, BG Mid/Long term planning, Engineering, Digital, HR

    Own the Continuous Improvement Program:

    • Own the roll out of the program (for foundation and advanced) in the factories, perform gap analysis, supports teams to create improvement plan; facilitate assessments with global teams.
    • Facilitate Tools and Methods (toolkits) to attack the major losses supporting and maintaining the standardization across the BU.
    • Drive asset efficiency (OEE) aligned with run2standard. Support the deployment of MMP standards set up and coherent application. Analyze and report continuous improvement savings through Cost Confidential Deployment. Facilitates timely and accurate reporting of site performance KPIs OEE, Waste and Manhour per ton.
    • Deliver trainings (classroom and the shopfloor) and coaching for pillar leaders/members on UMS logic and pillar steps when relevant to ensure capability building across the sites. Facilitate discussion on resource allocation when required between BU and SU (Factory) leaders (part of the Masterplan agenda)

    Benchmarking/Best Practice Sharing/Technology and Process Convergence:

    • Scale specific factory’s solutions (best examples/practices and assessment findings) across the other sites and other capabilities (SHE - Quality - Agility). Develop action plans for effective knowledge and best practices transfer.
    • Supporting and maintaining standardization across the BU.
    • Supporting and maintaining standardization across the BU.
    • Implement the above improvement via technology hubs wherever active

    Manage Manufacturing Waste: 

    • Support the factory teams on waste governance; Support teams to develop waste improvement glidepath covering all waste levers.
    • Cost Governance: Support factory teams to develop the cost budget and to control the cost by Weekly Cost Governance and Zero-Based Budget.
    • Savings: Support the factory teams to identify saving projects to meet the targeted production cost and manufacturing waste.
    • Reliability: Expand the loss management framework beyond Manufacturing and have KPI´s for interfaces with Manufacturing (OR losses)
    • Digital transformation: support the factory to develop and implement a digital road map and industry 4.0 use cases to accelerate performance.
    • Descriptive and Diagnostic: Drive digital factory program for level 1 and level 2. Act as the primary point of contact for RTVA, MDCS data reporting systems, deployment of global apps DFOS, BuildApp, SPC and NGTW. The focus will be on enabling our manufacturing sites to deploy appropriate, standardized technologies and ensure consistency in deployment and associated benefit delivery.
    • Predictive and Prescriptive: Support BG and BU engineering for level 3 and level 4 solutions in terms of impact on operations and business results.
    • Purpose of investment - Early alignment (Idea Phase) with BG and Engineering on projects to leverage EEM.
    • EEM Methodology - Ensure project team has appropriate training on EEM and UMS methodology and apply project classification to identify right tools and methods
    • Front loading concept - Provide support and coaching to project team(s) as project moves through the EEM Steps (focus on EEM step 1,2,3) to deliver Safety, AM, PM, Q step 1-2-3 and digital tools on day 1.
    • Continuous improvement culture: Ensure that ManEX activities are impacting both results and the culture change towards the vision as determined by zero loss mindset.
    • Resources: support sites with Master plan Organization element and resource gap closure.
    • Upskilling & reskilling: Support skills development (upskilling and reskilling) of white and blue-collar workers
    • Training: Deliver and coordinate appropriate training for the trainer training (theory and practical application) involving continuous improvement.
    • Factory Operating System: Standardize factory governance systems across region in line with FOS (R2S - Factory Operating System) elements and audit effectiveness

    EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • It is essential to have a university degree, engineering preferred. 5+ years’ experience in FMCG of which minimum 3 in manufacturing.
    • Appropriate functional/technical expertise. Strong continuous improvement program (Lean/6Sigma/TPM/WCM/UMS) background (with strong achievements)

    • Experience in packing line technology and optimization of packing lines.
    • Experience in AM, PM, Quality and FI tools and processes.
    • Experience in landing engineering projects.
    • HAZOPs and Safety Approval Systems working knowledge and experience is essential
    • Able to visualize clearly what the ideal production system should be.
    • Clearly understand operating principles and establish correct operating standards
    • Experience in statistics and process control tools. Drive decision making based on data
