Main Responsibilities

• Analyse and design new features
• Write elegant robust code
• Write unit, integration and acceptance tests for all components

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information science or related technical discipline
• Since we are a multi-technology environment, knowledge of computer science fundamentals in object oriented design, data structures and algorithms are a necessity

Skills/Competencies And Experience

• At least 4-8 years’ worth of professional development experience
• Strong software design skills
• Proficiency in more than one modern programming language. It is beneficial if you have experience in one dynamically typed language such as JavaScript, Python or Ruby and one statically typed language such as Scala, Java, C++ or Golang.
• Proficiency in a database technology such as SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of one or more modern JavaScript frameworks such as Node.JS, Angular.JS or React.JS
• Experience in distributed computing and building enterprise-wide systems
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes and testing
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types and deal with conflict in an effective way
• Ability to work individually and with teams
• Experience in influencing best practices within teams

Job Description

The Domains within Institutional IT are responsible for the design, implementation and support of the technology solutions that enable the Institutional business area and central Allan Gray business functions (Fund Operations, Performance, Trading, Investment Management and Client Servicing) to achieve their business objectives. The team strives to provide long-term solutions in a timely manner while ensuring stability, consistency and scalability.

We are looking for a SQL developer to work in a project to reform data extraction and reporting solution. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented with an inclination to numbers.

Responsibilities

• Develop reporting solutions; write SQL stored procedures to manipulate the data supplied by the source system and prepare it for reporting.
• Design and create SSRS report definitions to present the data.
• Optimising SQL queries to improve performance.

Requirements

• 5-8 years SQL dev experience (stored procedures, UDF’s, T-SQL, RDBMS, error handling,etc.) is essential
• Strong working knowledge of SSRS is essential
• Working experience with Crystal reports will be advantage
