    Lead Operator - Blending

    Job Description:

    • Responsible for the Scheduling and Blending of all Lubricants products to effectively meet customer demand, including raw material receipt and handling; formulae application; stock and cost control and meeting performance and quality standards.

    Financial Perspective

    Blending of Oil Products 

    •  Has complete control of all blended oil products transaction on SAP and Blending system
    •  Schedules all blending requirements as guided by the Production scheduler in the most efficient and safe manner to meet customer demands
    •  Handles blending of products as per blend formulation sheets and in accordance with safe work instructions to ensure attainment of first time correct blends’ target
    •  Handles sampling of blended product and submission for QA testing
    •  Handles reconciliation of blended quantities with customer order and raw materials consumption

    Receipt and Stock Accountability of Raw Materials 

    •  Accountable for the accurate and timeous inventory management of additives and base oils
    •  Ensures that additives are issued using FIFO process
    •  Accountable for the stock control of all blending related raw materials

    Customer Perspective

    Product Management 

    •  Measures and records “set up” and “process” times for all activities
    •  Accurately measures and records consumption of raw materials actually used in blending activities
    •  Accurately measures total actual blended volumes
    •  Performs all required SAP input for blending transactions after Lab release to final confirmations and settlements of production orders timeously
    •  Is accountable for material and activity variances
    •  Monitors all aspects of operating costs in his area to assure attainment of cost objectives through innovation and controlled spending

    Internal Processes

    Administration and Reporting: Submits accurate and timeous reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis as required:

    •  “On time – in full” satisfaction of customer demand
    •  Volume and number of blends
    •  Quality and cost performances

    Housekeeping

    •  Ensures that all physical activities are reflected in the books of account
    •  Ensures that all personnel in his/her department are fully aware of their duties and standards expected and the performance thereof. That personnel are counselled on disciplinary matters and are disciplined if and when required
    •  Ensures that all personnel are properly placed and trained
    • People Management
    • Supervision of the Blending Operators
    • Professional Qualification and Certifications: Matric, Degree/BTec in Engineering/Production/ Quality or Operation’s.

    Work Experience:

    • Supervisory
    • Petroleum Experience (Oil and Gas) or FMCG
    • Blending/Operations / Manufacturing / Production Experience
    • Forklift Driver/Operator

    Data and Reporting Analyst

    Job Description:

    • Reporting to the Business Excellence Manager (Manufacturing), the Data and Reporting Analyst plays a pivotal role in driving performance improvement across the Manufacturing Business Unit through comprehensive data analysis and initiative leadership. They collaborate extensively with various stakeholders, supporting strategic initiatives and providing insights that inform decision-making and operational improvements. This role demands a detail-oriented individual with robust analytical and project management skills, along with a profound understanding of performance analysis within the context of business operations.  The successful candidate will be able to work independently and bring the capability with them to perform as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who is excited about solving the challenges with their unique knowledge base and  to establish successful partnerships with  Engineering and Operational colleagues.
    • The analyst is responsible for identifying areas of concern, escalating issues as necessary, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and execute effective mitigation plans. They must effectively communicate complex data and insights to diverse stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable outcomes. The position requires the capability to work both independently and as part of a team, actively taking a hands-on approach to facilitate real-time problem-solving and project implementation.

    This will include the following responsibilities:

    • Lead ETL Processes: Execute comprehensive ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) operations to streamline data extraction and integration, ensuring accuracy and readiness for analysis.
    • Data Modelling and Analysis: Develop and maintain structured and scalable data models to integrate data, forecast trends and simulate business scenarios, aiding strategic decision-making.
    • Exploratory Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth exploratory analysis to unearth hidden insights and identify strategic improvement opportunities across manufacturing operations.
    • Performance Reporting: Create and refine impactful dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) that deliver actionable insights to both the team and wider stakeholder groups.
    • Strategic Support: Act as a key support resource for the Senior Business Improvement Lead and Strategic Planning Specialist, aligning data-driven insights with broader performance initiatives.
    • Data Integrity: Vigilantly maintain data integrity, performing thorough data reconciliations to establish a consistent and reliable information base.
    • Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with various departmental teams to gather data, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of operational contexts and performance metrics.
    • Initiative Leadership: Lead and manage key performance and reporting initiatives, driving improvements in business processes and operational efficiency.
    • Data Governance: Design and implement data quality and validation procedures for accuracy and consistency.
    • Training and Support: Provide training and support to team members in using data analysis tools and understanding reports.
    • Advocacy for Data-Driven Culture: Champion the adoption of data-driven decision-making practices throughout the organisation.

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree would be advantageous.
    • Certification in Power BI or demonstrable expertise in Power BI and other data visualisation tools.
    • Proficient in SAP, SQL, MySQL databases and Microsoft SQL

    Work Experience:

    • At least 3 years of experience in data, business or performance analysis or a related field in the manufacturing industry.
    • Proven experience in ETL processes, data modelling, and exploratory data analysis.
    • Experience with Power BI for developing complex dashboards and reports.
    • Ability to analyse complex datasets, understand performance indicators and draw insights to guide decision-making.
    • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and teams to gather necessary data and understand performance context.

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including experience working as a member of a team and leading performance analysis projects.
    • Structured thinker with the ability to distil complex information into key messages appropriate for the audience.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex data and identify trends and insights.
    • Experience with data analysis tools and software, mainly Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
    • Excellent English communication, reporting and presentation skills (Microsoft PowerPoint).
    • Ability to operate at multiple organisational levels and take a hands-on approach.
    • Excellent people skills, able to work across discipline and managerial boundaries, up to the executive management level.
