    Operations Planning Coordinator

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Bidvest Tank Terminals has a vacancy for an Operations Planning Co-ordinator. This opportunity exists within the Logistics Department, based in Durban, reporting to the Logistics Planning Supervisor. The candidate must meet the following minimum criteria.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric
    • Logistics/ Supply Chain/ Operations degree would be advantageous
    • Minimum 3 years Logistics/ Planning/ Customer Services experience
    • SAP Oil-In-One experience
    • Experience in the Chemical/ Petro-chemical industry would be advantageous
    • Experience in Bulk Liquid Storage Facility/ Terminal Operations would be advantageous

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Track and record progress against operations plan
    • Ensure that all variances from plan are flagged to the relevant Managers and Shift Supervisors
    • Ensure any afterhours amendments to orders, customer request and planned eta’s are timeously updated on the system and communicated to the sites
    • Follow up on orders not action according to planned dates and update the system accordingly
    • Monitor vehicle status on sites, follow up on excessive vehicle standing times and escalate delays to the relevant Managers and Shift Supervisors
    • Follow up on the delivery and collection of customer drums from the various sites
    • Follow up on the arrival and clearing of rail cars
    • Co-ordinate and record vehicle over/under loads
    • Pre-advise Sasol export containers onto Navis
    • Complete Sasol Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD) document for export isotainer & flexi-tainer
    • Liaise closely with the sites to ensure that all planned activities (shipping, road, rail, transfers, drumming) are efficient and effectively executed
    • Liaise with customers afterhours; keeping them informed of delays or constraints on site that will impact on timeous execution of their orders
    • Track and monitor progress on all orders and provide feedback to the clients and management as and when required
    • Liaise with internal departments on site activity and planning related matters
    • Attend to permit requests
    • Review site activity performance (plan vs actual & turnaround times) daily, weekly and monthly and report thereon
    • Submit daily reports per shift to the Planning and Operations Management team on progress against customer orders
    • Ensure all customer complaints or other incidents are timeously escalated to the relevant managers
    • Comply with all planning and other business procedures, standards and work instructions
    • General administrative duties within the planning department
    • Ensure that there is an effective shift handover

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required

    • Ability to plan organise, prioritise and multi-task
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Customer focused

    Mechanical Fitter Apprentice

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Bidvest Tank Terminals (BTT) is inviting applications for an Apprenticeship Programme in the Mechanical Fitter trade. These opportunities are based in Durban. The programme consists of 36 months of facilitated theoretical and practical experiential training. The programme will end with the trade test.

    • A valid South African Identity Document (SA Citizen)

    Plant Operator

    Job Advert Summary    

    • BTT is currently recruiting for four Plant Operators to join our Richards Bay Operations Team.
    • The Main Purpose of the job is ensure safe and efficient bulk storage operations on a shift basis and to ensure effective plant operation including offloading and loading of rail tankers, road tankers and vessels

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric with Mathematics and Science
    • One-year experience in plant operations in a chemical industry is preferred
    • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
    • Must be computer literate: basic computer skills

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Load and offload rail tankers, in accordance with company safe operating procedures and work instructions
    • Load and offload road tankers in accordance with company safe operating procedures and work instructions
    • Load and offload vessels in accordance with company safe operating procedures and work instructions
    • Connect and disconnect pipe systems for safe-making relevant equipment
    • Connect and disconnect pipe systems for the purpose of pigging the pipelines
    • Ensure correct line up of tanks for offloading/loading of rail tankers, road tankers and ships
    • Commission equipment after maintenance work has been completed according to procedure and work instructions
    • Conduct accurate tank dipping in accordance with procedure, record and report all dips to the Supervisor
    • Complete all daily plant logbooks/check lists and report all deviations
    • Accompany and assist contractors when they enter the operational
    • Participate in emergency response/firefighting activities
    • Conduct weekly deluge testing

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

    • Knowledge of BTT Richards Bay Emergency Procedures
    • Knowledge of OSH act and ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
    • Fire Training programme
    • Operational plant training
    • Basic knowledge of the Quayside operations
    • Basic understanding of the Rail & Road operations
    • Knowledge of all relevant systems, including SAP, Fuelfacs, SCADA, IMS
    • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and a sense of urgency
    • Ability to work independently
