    Fitter

    Job Advert Summary    

    • We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fitter to join our dynamic team within the steel manufacturing environment, specialising in round bar production. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment to ensure optimal plant performance and minimal downtime.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Suitably qualified/experienced as a Fitter. (An experienced Fitter with experience in steel manufacturing or related heavy machinery, to be considered as minimum requirement).
    • Minimum experience of 5 years as a Maintenance Fitter.
    • Experience and/or qualifications in Fitting and Turning will be advantageous.
    • The successful applicant must be able to provide a career record to evaluate suitability for vacant position.
    • Good interpersonal skills (teamwork).
    • Ability to maintain and improve all machines and technical related equipment.
    • Ability to ensure preventive and predictive maintenance to achieve optimum efficiencies.
    • Ability to update technical drawings.
    • Willingness to work overtime, as well as shift work, as required.
    • Own transport essential, as call outs and unplanned additional hours at work for breakdowns are required and therefore suitable candidate to stay in Vaal Triangle area.
    • Applicants will be subjected to a selection criterion as well as a practical test.
    • Applicants are required to undergo an Entry Medical Examination.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Responsible for maintenance and continuous improvement of current machines and technical related equipment.
    • Responsible for inspections on machines, ensuring required levels of critical spares, and planning of actions to ensure preventive and predictive maintenance.
    • Responsible for night shift maintenance on rotating basis regarding shift activities for mechanical, electrical and crane maintenance.
    • Involvement in Small Group Activities to ensure optimum efficiencies of machines.
    • Ability to create and interpret all technical drawings.
    • Benchmarking new products/inventions against best practices to add value to continuous improvement.
    • Any other job-related function.

    Minimum Requirements

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Quality

    • Comply with work rules, standards and methods.
    • Read drawings, technical data sheets and specifications to compare with outgoing material to ensure that material has been manufactured according to the QCP’s / SANS specification/ Customer Specifications.
    • Completion of inspection reports and ensuring traceability
    • Report any conformances and request for restrictions
    • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards.
    • Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process.
    • Inspect, test, and / or measure materials or products being produced / cut.
    • Measure material with relevant tools i.e. rulers, callipers, gauges, or micrometres.
    • Accept or reject finalised material / items.
    • Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications.
    • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products.
    • Apply remedial action and inform all relevant parties.
    • Perform any reasonable and lawful instruction from management

    • Manage disability, post-retirement, and RMA benefits
    • Assisting with retirement fund administration

    Payroll and Reconciliations

    • Reconciling benefit deductions and contributions
    • Work closely with Payrolls and Finance to resolve discrepancies and outstanding payments

    Reporting and Record keeping

    • Maintain accurate benefits records
    • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
    • Ensure proper filing, scanning and document control

    Compliance and Governance

    • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies and benefit fund rules
    • Identify and address non-compliance risks
