    Field Service Technician

    • We are looking for a diligent, technically sound and customer orientated individual to join our team as a Field Service Technician.
    • The role will report into the Field Service Manager and the role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park.

    Purpose of the role:

    • Responsible for working closely with the Southern Africa sales & service teams to promote Crushing and Screening products and champion the driving of the Crushing & Screening Solutions equipment and aftermarket parts and support sales whilst providing support and technical assistance & services to our customers for our Crushing & Screening installed base.

    The job responsibilities:

    • Customer training and efficient technical services support pertaining to all Sandvik Crushing & Screening products supplied to customers within Southern Africa
    • Work closely with the Customers or Sandvik Installation and Erection Teams on activities during installation and commissioning of any Sandvik Crushing &
    • Guide and assist Customers or Sandvik’ Maintenance Teams with fault diagnosis while working on Screening equipment.
    • Cooperate closely with the Sales team or directly with the customer to promote Crushing & Screening Solutions equipment and Aftermarket sales.
    • Provide relevant feedback through equipment condition, performance and process audits, to enable maintenance planning improvements in terms of efficiency and equipment integrity.
    • Identifies current and future/potential customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with them and other people in a position to understand service requirements. Provides product service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Works towards achieving set KPI’s, for both the Customers and Sandvik.
    • Providing relevant information to Crushing & Screening Solutions installed base in the Region to the Regional teams and to ensure accurate installed base information is maintained in the database.
    • Accept and perform tasks delegated by SRP Management as deemed necessary.
    • Stay up to date with new and upgrades of Weighing & Screening equipment.
    • Prioritize & follow scheduled service/maintenance plan
    • Identify outstanding work
    • Verify resources
    • Complete work orders & feedback to Clients
    • Report all deviations and/or damage to Client & Manager
    • Address all complaints & suggestions referring to machine
    • Visual inspections with operators
    • Identify development opportunities for operators & In-training Apprentices
    • Perform needs analysis
    • Complete & administer all time histories
    • Prioritize maintenance to be done
    • Perform daily services
    • Identify service/ maintenance to be done from work order
    • Inspect & test machine
    • Identify faults & follow checklist
    • Perform maintenance/ service as identified and requested
    • Re-check machine
    • Capture & record shift hour meters if needed
    • Complete work order
    • Update internal business system CRM (Salesforce)
    • Report any deviations and/or damage
    • Tag & deliver components to stores for repairs
    • Recommend spare parts to customers & supply required quotes
    • Create learning opportunities for In-training Apprentices

    Qualifications & Experience Requirements

    • Grade 12 Certificate
    • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field or
    • N6 - Millwright
    • Relevant Red Seal Trade certificate- Millwright
    • +5 years' work experience in Minning or Construction environment

    Other Requirements & Competencies

    • Good understanding of the importance of customer services & Visits
    • Be able to work on the following but not limited to Linear Screens, Feeders, PLCs, weigh feeders, magnetic feeders, Belt Weighers, Bin, Corrolos, Apron Feeders, Upgrades on Weighing equipment, Installations, Calibrations on Weighing equipment, Load Cells, TLOs (advantageous), FAT test,
    • Follow through ability, results orientated and ability to function with tight deadlines.
    • Ability to work in a matrix organization environment.
    • Listening and logic interpretation
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
    • Must be flexible and self-reliant,
    • Excellent time management
    • Commercial understanding
    • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision as well as collaborate effectively as part of a team.
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

    • Surface and underground practical work experience in Crushing and Screening (advantageous)
    • Valid passport, and willing and able to travel to customer sites in Africa

    • Be prepared to work Standbys.
    • There might be a need to assist other territories within Africa for extended periods
    • Required to support technicians, other team members and customers after hours.

    Machining Application Specialist- P3

    The Role

    As an Application Specialist, you will support the sales team in delivering complete technical solutions to customers. You will consult, educate, and participate in solution delivery to ensure customer needs are met by:

    • Providing expert technical knowledge on products and applications, supporting Account Managers, Agents, and Partners on-site or remotely to maximise business opportunities.
    • Ensuring correct implementation of Sandvik Coromant products and solutions to minimise competitor influence and deliver maximum value to customers.
    • Supporting customer engagement through technical presentations, training, and interactions, helping identify and secure business opportunities across analogue and digital channels.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build strong relationships with customers and partners to create trust and deliver viable solutions.
    • Analyse customer technical needs and propose tailored solutions to support sales activities.
    • Drive cross-functional collaboration from consultation to implementation, providing feedback on savings, productivity gains, and cost avoidances.
    • Act as an ambassador for innovative practices and emerging technologies to meet customer needs and drive profitable growth.
    • Identify and secure opportunities independently or with Account Managers and ensure technical excellence in product application.
    • Document performance and savings of applied products and services—successful or not—to support continuous improvement.
    • Lead customer projects end-to-end in collaboration with Account Managers, Agents, and Partners.
    • Ensure all project phases—planning, execution, implementation, and feedback—are accurately documented.
    • Manage post-sales activities, including regular follow-ups, issue resolution, and customer training if needed.
    • Collaborate within a matrix structure to ensure technical alignment between customers, Account Managers, and internal teams.
    • Monitor competitor activity and alternative solutions that could impact business in the region.

    Profile required: 

    • Degree or National Diploma (minimum NQF6) in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent years of experience; a mechanical trade qualification is advantageous.
    • Exceptional communication skills with at least 5 years’ experience in customer-facing roles.
    • Project management experience and ability to manage customer relationships effectively.
    • Strong technical expertise in advanced metal cutting tools and machining methods.
    • Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
    • Willingness to travel extensively within South Africa and occasionally to other sales regions.

    ​Knowledge of:

    • CNC Machining, Machines, and controllers
    • Cutting tools (feeds, speeds, and general knowledge)
    • CNC production manufacturing
    • CAD/CAM
    • Sales experience will be advantageous
    • Lean Manufacturing Principles will be advantageous
    • Holding systems (jigging, clamping etc.)
    • Post processing will be advantageous
    • Metalworking ISO materials essential

    Product Specialist- S4

    The Role

    • As a Product Specialist you will be responsible for providing quality technical support and for developing the technical competencies of the customer and internal personnel.
    • The role is product focused and concentrates on providing guidance and advice on the implementation and strategies for the product range.  Product specifications, selection and its application lie with this role

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and organize product training for sales and service personnel for the respective products
    • Develops and recommends procedures and methods and prepares technical reports and documentation.
    • Performs technical evaluations of events to determine root cause; recommends corrective action.
    • Monitors instruments and equipment and collects operating data including calibration, inspection, testing and repair activities to assist in making on-line adjustments to instruments, equipment, or products.
    • Analyses and resolves malfunctions and deviations of instruments and control systems to identify and resolve problems.
    • Conducts analyses and prepares reports using metrics from salvage tracking, trending, reporting and root cause analyses.
    • Maintains process designs to optimize process and facility use while conforming to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
    • Represent Sandvik fleet, sharing knowledge especially on Solo long hole drill rigs, bolters, LHD's and Surface drills. The preferred candidate must have vast experience in above mentioned equipment, must be familiar with the new Sandvik i equipment product version (electrical /CAN Bus / electronics is essential. Also the requirement is to have excellent communication skills, should lead by example, passion to maintaining equipment, working according to Sandvik standard & procedures.

    Profile Required

    • Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification / Equivalent Qualification
    • Mechanical or electrical trade qualification
    • Mc machine range experience and advance computer literacy
    • English proficiency
    • Relevant mechanized mining experience (5 years)
    • Underground/surface mining environment
    • Maintenance of earthmoving equipment in mining/ Underground experience
    • Mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment maintenance competence in at least 2 of the following areas:
    • Basic 5 module LHD’s and CM  
    •  Basic electronic systems
    • Basic LV electric systems
    • Mechanical equipment
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Video display systems
    • Advanced electrical systems (low current relays, electronic timers, electrical/electronic overloads and protection devices, solenoids, actuators, proximity devices etc.)
    • Experience in CAN bus systems
    • Basic knowledge of software
    • Valid driver’s license
