    EHS Professional

    • We are looking for a result driven, detail orientated and enthusiastic individual to join our team a EHS Professional. 
    • The role will report into the SHEQ Manager, and the role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park.

    Purpose of the role:

    • The EHS Professional will be responsible for supporting and driving the effective implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) systems, standards and practices across Sandvik sites and service sites. The role ensures compliance with Sandvik EHS requirements, the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and applicable regulations, and where relevant, the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 and its regulations. The role provides professional EHS guidance, monitors legal and internal compliance, supports risk management activities, contractor management and incident prevention, and contributes to building a proactive safety culture across the business.

    The job responsibilities:

    • Implement, monitor and maintain EHS systems, procedures, processes and improvement plans in line with Sandvik requirements and applicable legislation.
    • Support compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mine Health and Safety Act where applicable, environmental requirements and relevant ISO standards.
    • Coordinate and monitor contractor management, including onboarding, safety inductions, documentation reviews, site access requirements and contractor risk assessment reviews.
    • Facilitate and support hazard identification, risk assessments, workplace inspections, legal compliance checks and corrective action follow-up.
    • Lead or support incident, near-miss and hazard investigations, ensuring actions are captured, monitored and closed timeously on EHS 360.
    • Coordinate new employee and annual safety inductions, medical surveillance requirements, ergonomics training and EHS awareness initiatives.
    • Conduct and report on monthly facility inspections and support weekly leadership inspections with managers in line with EHS leadership goals.
    • Maintain and update EHS 360, including EHS plans, leading indicators, environmental data, hazards, near misses and action tracking.
    • Support internal and external EHS audits, corrective action requests, management reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Coordinate evacuation drills, maintain drill reports and follow up on identified actions.
    • Consolidate EHS survey feedback, facilitate employee feedback sessions and support managers with action plans and resolutions.
    • Prepare EHS reports, trends and presentations to support management decision-making and compliance monitoring.
    • Promote a positive EHS culture by coaching employees, supporting managers and encouraging safe behaviour across all sites.
    • Risk assessment, incident identification and investigation.

    Qualifications & Experience Requirements

    • Completed Grade 12 Certificate
    • National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Safety Management, Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related EHS field, essential.
    • SAMTRAC: Safety Management Training Course.
    • Incident investigation training or certification would be advantageous.
    • ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 internal auditor training would be advantageous.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in related role.

    Other Requirements & Competencies

    • Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 85 of 1993.
    • Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment and planned task observation.
    • Knowledge of contractor management, incident investigation, emergency preparedness and workplace inspection processes.
    • Strong understanding of ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and exposure to ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
    • Ability to compile and report on Environmental data.
    • Ability to analyse EHS data, identify trends and recommend practical corrective and preventive actions.
    • Strong communication, facilitation, coaching and report-writing skills.
    • Ability to build effective working relationships with managers, employees, contractors and external stakeholders.
    • Results-driven, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities across sites.
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Ability to influence safe behaviour and support a proactive EHS culture.
    • Willingness to travel between sites and/or customer sites.

    Drives Mechanical Assembly Fitter

    • We are looking for a technically sound, hardworking and self-reliant individual to join our team a Drives Mechanical Assembly Fitter.
    • The role will report into the Drives Manager, and the role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park.

    Purpose of the role:

    • Assembly, testing, assessing, stripping, cleaning and repairing of vibratory equipment.

    The job responsibilities:

    • To meet daily output targets.
    • Daily progress reports.
    • Daily report of component requirements.
    • Continuous monitoring of quality of parts and reporting of any defects.
    • Good housekeeping skills related to work environment, tools and equipment.
    • Responsible of assembly / testing and recording data of all vibrating equipment, to the highest standard.
    • Responsible of stripping, inspecting and recording data of all vibrating equipment
    • Maintenance of equipment according to quality control standards.
    • Effective management of assets.
    • Performing of installations, commissioning and service duties, on/off-site.
    • Suggest and implement assembly, stripping or testing improvements.
    • Ability to compile written technical reports.
    • Assessing incoming spares and components (old and new).
    • Use speciality tools for assessment purposes e.g., micrometres.
    • Responsible to stay within the allowable hours per job given by Management and to put steps in place to mitigate any over run-on hours due to breakdowns or other work stoppages.
    • Responsible to check the quality of the completed work prior handing it over
    • Responsible to give clear instructions to your team members and co-workers.
    • Responsible to maintain and repair electronic and mechanical equipment where possible and to report any faulty equipment to your manager.
    • Responsible to take care of all equipment issued and used by you.
    • Responsible to know how to operate tools and to see that they are well maintained.
    • Responsible to strip new and old Vibrating Equipment that needs to be repaired.
    • Responsible to strip, clean and access components.
    • Responsible to assemble and test Vibrating Equipment to Kwatani specifications.
    • Ensure that working area is clean and neat and free of safety hazards within required limits.
    • Responsible to execute tasks given by supervisor / manager in the correct way to ensure adherence to the expected standards set by the Company.
    • Responsible to check the quality of the completed work prior handing it over.
    • Responsible to maintain good housekeeping in your work areas on a continuous basis.
    • Responsible to provide guidance and expert advice to co-workers on technical related topics.
    • Responsible to coach and develop or otherwise help others in working environment.
    • Responsible to operate within the health and safety requirements prescribed by Kwatani and OHS Act and to report any accident, injury or near miss that could have resulted in an accident to your Manager.
    • Responsible to operate overhead cranes within the safety parameters.
    • Responsible to operate Forklift within the safety parameters.
    • Responsible to apply different identification colours to all vibrating equipment.

    Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

    • Completed Fitter Trade Test or equivalent
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an assembly environment.
    • Experience on plant / heavy equipment gearboxes is essential.

    Other Requirements & Competencies:

    • Basic understanding of vibrating equipment and engineering drawings.
    • Must be flexible and self-reliant.
