    Senior Contract Administrator: 12 Month Contract

    • Scatec is looking for a Senior Contract Administrator based in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Senior Contract Administrator, you will provide support to the Solutions organization by overseeing Contracts Administrator and Quantity Surveying activities for projects in the PV, BESS and Wind sector. This support shall be rendered directly to the relevant Procurement and Logistic Manager / Supply Chain Manager / Project Manager, encompassing the stages of Development, Structuring, and Delivery, with the aim of leading and managing the formulation, implementation, and execution of Construction and Supply Contracts. Furthermore, the role shall be responsible for monitoring and controlling the execution of the contractual framework and providing periodic reports to the project management and the rest of the governance structure around the project on these issues.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Establish Contract and Procurement Strategies: Assist in developing contract strategies for projects
    • Assist in preparation of EPC Contracts and Subcontracts: Collaborate closely with legal, project management, supply chain management, technical management, and all other relevant disciplines to prepare robust Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts and subcontracts
    • Ensure that contracts are designed to minimize interface-related risks, mitigate schedule slippage, and prevent cost escalation while optimizing to achieve a competitive overall cost and timeline
    • Manage Contractor Selection: Oversee the prequalification and initial selection of key contractors and subcontractors
    • Facilitate the tendering process, evaluate proposals, and conduct negotiations to finalize contracts for implementation in line with the procurement strategy (including full compliance both with internal and external requirements)
    • Commercial Management of Subcontractors: Take a commercial perspective in managing contractors and subcontractors, including formal correspondence related to contract management and interface risks
    • Manage contractual determinations and progress payments to contractors, manage variations in scope, address claims for increased costs and extensions of time, prepare final account agreements
    • Manage team of Contract Administrator and Quantity Surveyors on site or office/
    • Prepare Project Reporting: In collaboration with the Project Control function, generate comprehensive reports on Construction Contracts
    • Provide detailed insights into the Contract status, claims, cashflow forecasts and risks

    • Project Direct Report: Procurement & Logistics Manager / Supply Chain Manager / Project Manager

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • BSc. QS (Hons) - (or relevant technical or commercial qualification) or Technical or legal supplementary degree
    • Quantity Survey education and experience
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Contracts suites, NEC, GCC and FIDIC
    • EPC Contractors scope and EPC Contractors Schedule -ensuring activities and deliverables
    • Quantity Survey education and experience
    • Project Management Education
    • Relevant courses in the FIDIC Contractual Framework and/or other relevant internationally renowned contract standards
    • 3+ years Construction Contract Administration experience with the FIDIC suite of contracts in companies with strong procurement and Supply Chain Management practices

    Senior Engineer (O&M Early Operations)

    Main purpose of position

    • Currently we are looking for a Senior Engineer in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Senior Engineer you will conduct technical investigations and implement solutions to resolve all technical matters related to operations and performance of operational plants.

    Main responsibilities 

    Support during Structuring and Execution Phase

    • Establish and approve technical requirements to be considered in the Project Documents, Functional Requirements, O&M Contract etc.
    • Ensure Technical considerations in detailed engineering are aligned with learnings from operational plants
    • Review of designs and technical documentation to ensure full TTO deliverables and technical compliance
    • Support in conducting HV and MV equipment FATs and SATs
    • Provide input to the commissioning procedure ensuring that all HV and MV equipment are correctly commissioned and meet safety and performance standards.

    • Conduct site visits to investigate problems or implement system/solutions to resolve faults or problems
    • Drafting of project scope of works for various technical matters as related to investigations or changes on plant.
    • Assistance with technical matters arising from O&M Project Management and Field Services.

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • B. Eng in Electrical Engineering
    • Must be registered with ECSA or working towards being professionally registered
    • 5 years+ relevant professional experience, preferably within the Renewables industry
    • Knowledge on the latest advancements in HV and MV equipment
    • Proficient in power system analysis tools such as Power factory and basic knowledge of PSCAD

    QC Mechanical Supervisor - 12 Month Contract

    Main purpose of position

    • Currently we are looking for a QC Mechanical Supervisor in Free State, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Mechanical QC Supervisor, you will be responsible to report back to the Site Quality Manager on a daily basis on planned vs actual progress on Quality Inspections, sign off and Punch Listing.

    Main responsibilities 

    • Pro-actively engage with Contractors’ supervisors to optimize daily progress & inspections & monitor the contractor for compliance to the Project Quality Plan at all times
    • Review and follow up on and implement contractor’s QC registers such as non-conformance, QCP, ITP checklist and punch list

    Civil Engineer (Release)

    Main purpose of position

    • Currently we are looking for a Civil Engineer to be based in Cape Town, South Africa and be part of our global team. The overall responsibility of the role is to provide support within the discipline of civil engineering to continuously develop and align the organization's civil engineering capabilities with its business objectives. The role will mainly support projects, in various stages of maturity, from the feasibility stage through to the lease phase.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Participate in project stakeholders’coordination related to the civil engineering and site preparation scope of work
    • Assist with development of Release’s in-house civil engineering expertise, by the continuous improvement of the operating system processes, documentation, specifications, templates, tools, reporting,etc.
    • Evaluation of site studies in conjunction with the business and technical development teams, participate in desktop studies (topo and hydro analysis) during the opportunity phase and evaluation of geotechnical, hydrological and topographical site studies during the feasibility and pre-design stage
    • Site visits will be required to verify on-site conditions throughout the development stage of projects
    • Design of civil works: Coordinate the interface between civil- and PV plant -design during the preliminary design development phase to achieve an optimised detail design (assub-contracted during the implementation/execution phase)
    • Projects are executed in various countries and therefore require the investigation of local rates, availability of resources, plant and
    • material aligned with in-country norms, standards and specifications. Support both technical development function (development phase) and project management function (implementation phase) with the civil work deliverables.
    • Site support: Guide the consultants or contractors executing the site studies during the development phase of projects
    • Management of consultants and contractors: Responsible for the detail civil design (together with project managers) as well as the contractors responsible for the site preparation works (together with Release site management).
    • Participate in technical reviews of deliverables produced by the site studies consultants, as well as the deliverables related to the inception, feasibility, hydro, preliminary and detail design of the site
    • Preparation works for the plant, whether produced in-house or via external consultants
    • Provide ad-hoc civil engineering support to Project Engineering Leads within their projects and to the product engineering function when civil-technology integration is required (eg. equipment foundations)
    • Reporting to management and Release committee on project technical deliverables, challenges, risks and opportunities 

    Important role interfaces:

    • Technical Development: Assisting the technical development team with the feasibility and development civil scope of work within the projects they co-lead with the business development/sales function
    • Implementation: Working closely with the Project Engineering Leads and Project Managers during the structuring and delivery phases to deliver the civil engineering deliverables
    • Business Development: Direct interaction with the BD&S function will be limited as technical deliverables will be largely coordinated by the technical development function. Client or contractor meetings, involving civil works, may be organized by the BD&S function
    • Interaction with the Procurement and Logistics function will entail collaborating with Civil engineering consultant and civil construction contractors on scopr, contracting, specifications, RFP/RFQ documentation etc.
    • Interaction with the Project Management function will be to drive technical deliverables and support to projects with Civil engineering needs
    • Project Planning funtions will be to provide estimated construction time and resource requirements related to the civil engineering and site preparation scope within projects
    • Interaction with the Document Control function will entail the effective organisation of all documents, tools, specifications and other
    • documents related to the civil engineering work
    • Interaction with the QC function will entail collaboration to identify potential civil quality risks and assist the QC team
    • to formulate quality control requirements for the inspection of civil works
    • Interaction with the Technical Asset Management team will entail ad-hoc investigations and suggesting remedies for site civil challenges
    • experienced during the lease phase of projects (eg. soil erosion)

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Civil Engineering Degree, B.Eng Civil (ECSA Registration ideal)
    • 5+ years Civil engineering experience
    • 5+ years EPC/construction projects experience
    • 3+ years renewable energy sector experience (mainly solar PV, BESS experience is an advantage)
    • Ability to use design software and tools (AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS software, Google Earth)
    • Excellent MS Office Suite software knowledge and good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat (or similar PDF app)
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, project management tools (project planning) and methodologies
    • Understanding of civil cost drivers in EPC projects, cost benchmarks, market trends, cost sensitivity etc
    • Valid driver's license

    Project Manager (Release)

    Main purpose of position

    • We are looking for a Project Manager (Release)  to be based in Oslo, Norway and be part of our global team. As our Project Manager you will be managing the planning and implementation of Release projects till handover of the operational PV plant to Asset Management/Client.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Manage the Project Implementation phase of each project according to Project Implementation plan; ensure that the PV plant is delivered according to budget, time and agreed quality; Support the Installation/Construction Manager managing all construction activities on the construction site; represent Release in any of stakeholder engagement commitments as necessary
    • Plan and prepare the Project Implementation Phase; Manage the team carrying out engineering and supply chain activities, manage negotiations with suppliers and contractors where relevant; ensure the preparation phase is executed effectively by identifying and managing all required activities; optimize the project budget
    • Support the Business Development team as needed in the business development phase. In particular to provide input to and establish initial project implementation plans and budgets.
    • Secure that activities are carried out according to our Operating System; contribute to improvement and optimization of the Release Operating System where applicable

    Qualifications and Competencies 

    • Master’s Degree in Engineering (Construction Management or Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering)
    • Excellent track record of planning and managing large scale (renewable) energy and construction project
    • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in management of international projects

    Project Manager

    Main purpose of position

    • Currently we are looking for a Project Manager in Cape Town, South Africa to to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.
    • As the Project Manager you will manage the scope of work related to the contract(s) in country delegated to the position and contribute to the successful completion of the entire project. You will be Scatec’s key point of contact and accountable responsible for the delegated contract(s), and shall manage the cost, schedule, quality, documentation and interfaces with project stakeholders and Contractor(s), as well as safety of personnel and equipment. The responsibility includes supervision and follow up of the works until final handover, control the deliverables from Scatec to the Contractor(s) (as Wind OEM, any Free Issued Materials, engineering inputs, licenses etc.), management of the involved local Scatec team including hired-in supporting teams reporting to the Scatec team.

    Main responsibilities 

    • Support during elaboration, highlight the local requirements, review and approval of contracts and schedules; be part of the negotiations and evaluations, perform due diligences.
    • Organize and lead kick off meetings with suppliers and contractors, define actions and log actions, set regular weekly follow up meetings. Conduct regular weekly meetings with main contractors to follow up progress, discuss critical tasks, plan future activities, demand actions and recovery plan for critical items, document actions and agreed deadlines.
    • Responsible to follow up and coordinate internally all deliverables that Scatec has contractual responsibility to provide to contractor(s), secure that those are available as planned. Typical deliverables are licenses, permits, authorizations, engineering and technical inputs, review and approval of drawings and technical specifications from Utility, Original Equipment manufacturer and/or local regulatory authorities, Free Issued Materials, etc. Deviations on those deliverables shall be reported to the Project Manager / Project Director.
    • Recruitment and management of the team in Country as defined on the project organization chart. Ensure to establish a strong and efficient management team for the execution phase.
    • In cooperation with the Site Manager, manage the following key project disciplines at site: Health and Safety, Environmental management, security, logistics and warehouse, Quality Control, Document control of all quality documentation until TTO, Progress measurement of site activities and Community Liaison (including grievance response); ensure the project is being executed within the contractual requirements and proactively assist the Construction Team.
    • In cooperation with the Site Manager, ensure that basic services at site as security, control of entrance at site, office facilities (supply of electricity, water, cleaning, basic office material), vehicles; keep control of the budget related (in case this responsibility will be delegated)
    • Evaluate Variation Order claims from suppliers and contractors, approve or request approval to Project Manager (following approval internal procedures and authorization matrix). Support Project Manager to follow up Variation Orders or other claims towards SPV when applicable, gather documentation.
    • Continuously evaluate project KPI’s to ensure positive project performance and identify early risks related to the schedule and budget overruns. Manage the risks and opportunities of the project proactively with mitigations and monitoring.
    • Follow the guidelines and prescribed structures as outlined by the operating system and secure successful implementation during Structuring and Execution of the projects; provide continuous input towards improvement and optimization of the operating system
    1. Manage phase close out at site, contractor’s demobilization, onboarding of O&M team and handover of activities.

    Qualifications 

    • Degree in Electrical / Electronical, Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering
    • Masters Degree in Engineering
    • 7+ year of engineering experience - Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction 7+ year of general engineering experience; or technical project management experience; or equivalent project engineering experience.
    • An excellent knowledge of MS Office, and project reporting
    • Exposure to Utility Scale PV / Wind Project execution, developed and executed under Project Finance structures.
    • Ideal: Project Management Certificate
    • 3+ years renewable energy experience; Lenders Technical Due Diligence; Owner’s Engineer workstreams
    • Exposure to High Voltage Networks and Sub-Stations.
    • Based in Cape Town and able to travel to site frequently
