    Electrical Engineer Trainee

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Electrical Engineer Trainee to join our growing team at SGS Bateman in Greenstone, South Africa. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates  to gain hands-on experience in the field of electrical engineering.
    • Assist senior engineers in designing and developing electrical strategy to suit the unique project or client requirements
    • Participate in the creation and modification of electrical schematics and drawings using CAD software
    • Help conduct tests and reviewing cable schedule
    • Assist in the production of discipline specific design according to schedule and budget
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are met efficiently
    • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and documentation
    • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance technical knowledge and skills
    • Assist in implementing safety protocols and quality control measures

    Qualifications
    Requirements

    Education:

    Senior Operator (Comminution)

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To perform the role of senior operator within the Minerals Processing division with an emphasis on comminution. The responsibilities and authorities of the senior operator in the Minerals Processing / Flotation division in relation to post requirements are outlined below.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform routine and non-routine tests following established procedures and or modify procedures to accomplish the assigned tasks.
    • Complete tasks within the allocated time and plan work for operators to ensure that the overall service goals of the company are met\
    • Responsible for reporting any infringements or non–compliances by any other laboratory staff member with respect to allocated work, punctuality, or any other misdemeanor to the metallurgist.
    • Must be able to interpret and calculate comminution data and associated specimens’ requirement.
    • Must be able to set up and conduct comminution test-work independently.
    • Must be able to carry out all associated sample preparation test-work and mineral processing test-work either upstream of the comminution test-work.
    • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by direct line manager.

    SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES

    • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
    • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
    • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
    • Any person has the right to refuse to perform work that may damage the environment in an imminent and serious way and to report such a situation.

    Maintenance Assistance

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The Maintenance Assistance to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment's, follow maintenance schedules, attend to breakdowns and upheld safety standards.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain and repair all equipment at the Geochem Laboratories.
    • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • Be compliant to all SGS QHSE and HR policies and procedures.
    • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
    • ​Carries out routine services on equipments.
    • Carries out conveyor belts repairs and or replacements by mechanical splicing, replacement of idler rollers and scrapers.
    • Carries out routine services on oil and air filters, suctions system, crushing and other systems in plant.
    • Caries out services and repairs on furnaces, crushers, pulverizes and  general facility.
    • Manufactures parts and tools through use of basic hand tools and simple turning.
    • Performs messenger/driver duties; collects and delivers tools and equipment for the department.
    • Assists in Mechanical and Electrical on major jobs’ repair and services as and required.
    • Cleans and keeps work areas clean.
    • Being able to locate plant problems and resolve effectively to avoid losses and trips.
    • Being available for emergency call outs and weekend
    • Working long hours when required.

    Qualifications

    Site Health & Safety Coordinator

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To implement, maintain, continuously develop and improve all HSE related areas, including legal compliance, client requirements and H&S management system requirements as per local and Global requirements at the site.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Implement the business line H&S Top page at responsible site
    • Implement, maintain and control HSMS and local HSE regulatory requirements at responsible site
    • Manage clear HSE related communication between role players (H&S, Site personnel and Management)
    • through use of global assessment tools (Stellar) and auditing / inspection processes
    • Promote HSE awareness (Campaigns, awareness, communications etc.) throughout the responsible site
    • Conduct H&S training aligned with HSMS and local regulatory requirements
    • Report and manage H&S related incidents, near misses, hazards and best practices in accordance with group expectations
    • Conduct Incident Investigations
    • Report incident, near misses, hazards and site KPI’s
    • Facilitate Risk Assessments through the Crystal module
    • Implement Global H&S Initiatives throughout responsible site where applicable (Safe Start, Stellar, Safety Month, Quarterly Campaigns, Safe Talks, SGS Rules for Life, Stop Work Authority, BBS, etc.)
    • Ensure corrective action implementation from Incidents / Best Practices
    • Conduct internal H&S audits and inspections / site visits and provide guidance and assistance on related challenged and areas of improvement
    • Evaluate the business process, procedures in relation to changes and amendments as and when required
    • Assist locations with internal and external audits, client visits, governmental / regulatory visits etc.
    • Timeously conduct inspections and compile report relating to HSE matters

    • Provide H&S support to site and functions (e.g. Purchasing) during projects; (e.g. during site expansions, new construction, new equipment purchases, new processes etc.)
    • Conduct incident investigations for incidents occurring at the site
    • Timely reporting of H&S relevant items including incidents, near misses, hazards and KPIs within the country using Crystal
    • Implement SGS wide H&S activities at the site including Stellar, Safety Month, Quarterly Campaigns, Best Practice Sharing, SGS Rules for Life, Stop Work Authority, BBS, etc. to assure compliance with OIMS and Country regulatory requirements.
    • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or entry to hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and take action to address the hazard.
    • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and take action to address the issue.
    • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.

    Qualifications
    Education

    • SAMTRAC / NEBOSH (Completed or in progress)

    Experience

    • 2 - 4 years relevant HSE work experience
    • Advance Microsoft software experience
    • Document and report writing experience

    Technician - Gold Division

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To perform the role of Technician within the Gold division. Duties may be required within other departments of the Metallurgy division. The responsibilities and authorities of the Technician in the Gold division, in relation to the requirements of managerial, technical, and key support personnel, are outlined in this document.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Technician shall adhere to the following:

    • Assume responsibility over processing of data, including reporting of the testwork according to company guidelines. Report writing must be at a high standard, professional and grammatically correct.
