    Legal Counsel, Capital Markets

    About this job

    As Legal Counsel, Capital Markets you will be accountable for delivering legal solutions across debt and equity markets in a fast-paced and technical environment. You will report to the Head of Legal, Capital Markets.   

    You will 

    • Deliver varied solutions to JUMO’s capital markets needs. This means you will need to have a strong understanding of various debt and equity products and be able to think innovatively to apply your existing knowledge to JUMO’s business model
    • Advise on legal and commercial risks with respect to any particular agreement or financing structure. Understand key legal pitfalls of common financing structures and lender credit risk considerations. You will have experience negotiating and drafting LMA facilities and shareholders agreements
    • Be accountable for transaction delivery. You will have strong deal management and execution skills from inception to post-closing on cross-border transactions for corporate M&A, private equity and debt finance. You will know how to unlock transaction stalemates and be able to identify when matters require escalation to unlock. You will have experience working with local counsel across a number of jurisdictions. You will have strong matter management and document management discipline
    • Practice risk management. You will be able to identify risks, present strategic solutions and be willing to make decisions in consultation with your peers
    • Support in Legal delivery of running a FinTech. This means you will assist team members in relation to employment matters, including employee share schemes, advise on corporate authorisations and general contractual queries, draft and negotiate NDAs, draft resolutions, advise internal committees and be involved in JUMO’s governance strategies
    • Research and solve for unique legal issues that could impact JUMO. As a growing company this may be in respect of problems or legal issues outside of your area of experience. You will need to be comfortable exploring areas outside of your experience and with limited internal resources. JUMO is aware that due to the varied specialisms required you may have more experience in some areas than others
    • Draft, negotiate and analyse legal agreements appropriate to your PQE level with limited supervision

    You will need

    • A strong academic record with a degree (or higher) in law (or equivalent conversion qualification)
    • Experience working in a leading private practice firm or in-house, with at least 5 years PQE. Less than this will only be considered if you are able to demonstrate exceptional experience and that you meet all of the other requirements of the role
    • US and/or UK financing experience, as this will be highly regarded
    • To be a self-starter, a keen problem solver, mentally agile and able to apply existing knowledge to new and innovative circumstances
    • Strong analytical and communication skills, including being able to assimilate and explain complex legal and commercial advice to a wide audience
    • The ability to prioritise and to be willing to pitch in across responsibilities and team areas, as well as to be able to work on multiple matters and in different jurisdictions in a remote-first environment
    • To be willing to work on both exciting, strategic initiatives and less glamorous work required in the operation of a business

    Bonus if you have

    Head of Financial Planning & Analysis

    As the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial planning and analysis activities of JUMO. You will lead a team of financial analysts and work closely with cross-functional teams to provide insightful financial analysis and modeling to drive strategic decision-making within the company. You will report to the Commercial Director.

    You will be responsible for

    Team Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor a team of financial analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure their professional growth and success.
    • Cultivate a collaborative and high-performance team culture that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.

    Financial Planning & Analysis:

    • Develop and manage the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company objectives.
    • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide actionable insights to senior management.

    Corporate Finance Modeling:

    • Design, build, and maintain complex financial models to support strategic initiatives, capital allocation decisions, and other corporate actions as the business evolves.

    Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare and present clear and concise financial reports, dashboards, and presentations to senior leadership, enabling informed decision-making.

    • Participate in cross-functional projects that have a financial impact on the organization.

    You will need

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CFA is a plus).
    • 7+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis; experience with corporate finance modeling a plus.
    • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
    • Proficiency in financial modeling software (e.g., Excel, financial planning software) and data visualization tools.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

    Accounts Payable Lead

    About this job

    As the Accounts Payable Lead, you will be the primary point of contact for the business payment process, accountable for managing the accounts payable processes and procurement for JUMO entities, providing group-wide governance and policy oversight of accounts payable in operating subsidiaries, as well as, providing input to Treasury for cash management purposes. You will be based in South Africa and will report to the Senior Accountant. 

    You will

    • Hold accountability for the full management of accounts payable processing, reconciliation and aging across JUMO entities.
    • Manage the accounts payable function and assist in streamlining processes and enhancing the control environment. Tasks include: 
    • Review of Payments to Supporting Recons and documents to confirm validity and accuracy of payment prepared.
    • Review completeness of payment batches.
    • Manage payment schedules in line with the aging and approvals.
    • Drive and manage invoice approval processes across the business.
    • Manage the deliverables of the outsourced accounts payable function.
    • Play an instrumental role in the adoption of a new centralised payment process across the Group.
    • Assist with various projects and process improvements (new software implementations, drafting new and updating existing policies).
    • Oversee supplier onboarding and manage the procurement process.
    • Manage relationships with internal procurers and provide key input into expense policy and travel policy. 
    • Review bank and supplier reconciliations.
    • Liaise with banks on a variety of topics including company credit cards, SARB foreign spending limits, user accounts set up and management.
    • Assist accounting team with yearly audits.
    • Oversee payment submission including the loading of payments across multiple banking platforms.

    You will need

    • Hold an Accounting degree/diploma.
    • 5+ years’ working experience in a similar function.
    • Accounts payable management experience and/or procurement experience, preferably managing a high volume environment and/or multiple entities in multiple territories.
    • Strong proficiency in Excel.
    • Excellent communication skills with individuals at various levels of the organization.
    • Attention to detail with inner drive for accuracy and meeting deadlines.
    • The ability to work independently, as well as, possess adaptability & flexibility.

    Bonus if you have

    • Experience with capturing of foreign currency transactions.

    Accountant

    About this job

    As Accountant you will be accountable for managing and capturing all accounts within the business, across various territories. You will also manage the relevant tax liabilities and tax processes in each territory. You will be based in South Africa and you will report to the Senior Accountant.

    You will

    • Hold accountability for the full accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely recording and reconciliation of financial accounts and trial balance, including the salary and tax accounts.
    • Manage the deliverables of the outsourced accounting function in various territories.
    • Assist the in-country staff with various finance functions including petty cash and expense claims.
    • Review monthly calculations of statutory liabilities. i.e. WHT, VAT, PAYE, WCF and Pensions.
    • Ensure creditors, cashbooks and petty cash capturing is kept up to date and reviewed on a weekly basis.
    • Manage all balance sheet accounts monthly including but not limited to Tax assets & liabilities, Accruals, Prepayments, Loans and Foreign exchange contracts.
    • Ensure timely bank payments in multiple territories.
    • Compute taxes and prepare tax returns.
    • Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary.
    • Comply with financial policies and local regulations.
    •  Oversee the engagement with auditors and prepare necessary deliverables.

    You will need

    • An accounting degree or relevant tertiary qualification (part-qualification will be considered if sufficient relevant work experience).
    • A minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience in a similar / general accounting role, within the financial services industry.
    • Experience with tax, including withholding tax & VAT.
    •  Excel experience, as well as, Accounting package familiarity.
    • Multi-currency experience.
    • Strong reporting skills and attention to detail.
    • To be a self-starter and have the ability to self manage and work effectively under pressure.
    • Ability to adapt and work in a fast-changing environment.
    • To show initiative and the ability to identify, initiate and drive process improvements.
