    Rigger Operator

    • We are looking for an experienced Rigger Operator for our Fittershop - Engineering to contribute to the efficient assembly and installation of marine equipment and structures by specializing in the precise and safe positioning of heavy machinery, components, and ship modules using a variety of rigging techniques and equipment.
    • Reporting to: Fittershop Foreman
    • Department: Engineering Workshop
    • Location: South Arm Road, V&A Waterfront

    KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

    • Carry out rigging and lifting operations for machinery, equipment and materials
    • Assist the chargehand in effectively ensuring that work conditions on the vessel are safe to carry out operations.
    • Provide clear and accurate updates throughout ongoing projects to the Artisan/ Chargehand/ Foreman
    • Report to Artisan or Chargehand upon completing the job to conduct testing’s for defects.
    • Must know the sizes of all slings and shackles 
    • Safely operate and maintain company equipment
    • Assist with general site duties as required
    • Perform a comprehensive inspection of all spares stored in the inventory room.
    • Effectively perform hands-on evaluations of defective tools

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • 3 years diesel fitting experience within marine industry
    • Proven experience as a Rigger Operator
    • Trade Test Qualification

    KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES

    • Ability to assess each job and select the correct equipment.
    • Ability to work in high-pressure environment
    • Must be punctual and reliable, positive attitude
    • Willingness to work overtime and weekends.
    • Work well in a team and follow instructions
    • Practice good safety and hygiene standards

    Rigger Chargehand

    • We are looking for an experienced Rigger Chargehand for our Fittershop - Engineering to join our busy fishing operations. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for supervising rigging activities and ensuring safe, efficient deck operations.  
    • Reporting to: Fittershop Foreman
    • Department: Engineering Workshop
    • Location: South Arm Road, V&A Waterfront

    KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

    • Lead and supervise rigging crew
    • Assist the Foreman in effectively ensuring that work conditions on the vessel are safe to carry out operations.
    • Effectively provide instructions and engage in collaborative efforts with the Crane Operator to facilitate the lifting and placement of the component onto the quay side
    • Rig the vessels engine or pumps onto the deck.
    • Conduct safety checks and toolbox talks
    • Provide workshop members with clear instructions regarding the essential instruments they should bring.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • Proven experience as a Rigger Chargehand
    • 4 – 5 years rigging experience
    • Trade Test Qualification

    KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES

    • HSE (health, safety, environmental) knowledge: A strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures, including knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards
    • Ability to work in high-pressure environment
    • Rigging techniques: Proficiency in various rigging techniques, including lifting, hoisting, and securing loads using appropriate tools and equipment.
    • Understanding the mechanical aspects of marine components and systems
