    Business Controller - TbM/MbM

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitor and drive actions to ensure accurate gross profit is reflected in the PnL, at total entity/country level down to job/shipment level.
    • Coordinate improvements on upstream issues impacting job costing and financial transparency, working closely with FINOPS colleagues and ensure correct usage of approved material codes.
    • Actively oversee and drive improvements on financial risk and exposure originated from operational processes impacting receivables and payables.
    • Make final validation of monthly accruals and overall result.
    • Ensure controls are followed and that a proper mindset on Revenue Assurance and Standards is in place.
    • Oversee key operational processes, ensuring quality, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of revenue and cost are updated in the system by execution teams. Review the use of ‘to-be-deactivated’ and incorrect material codes and liaise with MMD team for support to switch to correct codes.
    • Perform Risk and Compliance assessment as required in the RICC Manual, within BCO scope. This includes actively supporting effective resolution of audit findings.
    • Collaborate actively with CX/FINOPS to find improvements in upstream processes that lead to lower financial exposure.
    • Resolve controls across areas.
    • Engage with Product & Area FBP’s to understand the business requirements and facilitate when required.
    • Work together with CX in the implementation of new customers to avoid pitfalls in the future process, ensuring customer satisfaction while safeguarding potential financial exposure.
    • Serve as a single point of contact for the finance function from day one for business, customer, site, and system implementation.
    • Proactively identify risk areas and coordinate for process setup resolution to avoid future ambiguity.
    • Ensure correct setup of IOP’s and Ops SOP to cater to smooth business and accounting of the process/project.
    • Ensure completeness of minimum requirements ahead of execution stage by relevant stakeholders, including customer pricing, vendor contracting, material codes and passthrough identification, terms agreement and approvals (billing, payment, and credit terms).
    • Validate compliance with global standards and readiness for signoff ahead of site/business go-live.

    Who we are looking for:

    • Bachelor degree in finance/economics/mathematics
    • 3-5 years of total working experience in Finance, preferably with a logistics background.
    • Strong background in data analysis, advanced excel skills, and ability to deduce insights from data.
    • Strong understanding of job costing, CIMA will be beneficial.
    • Strong understanding of processes within relevant products and services
    • Result-driven, strong logical & analytical capacity
    • Well organized with high attention to detail.

    Logistics and Services Accounting Manager

    Job Description

    The opportunity we have, is for a Logistics and Services Accounting Manager who will be the anchor point for all accounting, compliance, and internal control related matters of all Logistics and Services (LnS) operations as well as the senior liaison between the frontline and various Global Service Centre teams for all matters relating to the Logistics and Services.

    The scope of this role includes ownership of and providing insight into the Financial Statements for all LnS Projects, handling the relationship with external parties such as various Government authorities, and auditors, where relevant.  The accountant must ensure true and fair view of financials, project accounts as well as management accounts are published effectively. In addition, the LnS Accounting Manager will need to be on top of governance, secure our licence to operate, ensure robust internal controls and protect and enhance our external reputation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Accounting and Finance

    • Deliver credibility in numbers for all project accounts in liaison with various teams.
    • Drive the collaboration with the various teams to achieve desired outcomes using the standard. Maersk operating systems routines.
    • Own and provide insight into the Financial statements.
    • Review consolidated financial statements.
    • Ensure that all ageing open items and exposures on the Balance Sheet are identified in a timely manner and are sufficiently mitigated by driving appropriate actions with the relevant parties.
    • Act as the focal point for all accounting and finance improvements (example: banking solution improvements, local accounting GAAP implementation in SAP etc).
    • Responsible for timely closure of books of accounts, reporting of financials, manages day to day accounting.
    • Ensure that the year-end audit and preparation of the Annual Financial Statements is completed timely, and an unqualified audit report is issued.

    Compliance (Our licence to operate)

    • Maintain our license to operate, ensure we are a good corporate citizen and live up to our values and standards.
    • Improve our external reputation and ensure we are in full compliance with all statutory obligations we have in the Area.
    • Engage with local authorities as needed (example: agency licenses, reporting requirements, foreign exchange control).
    • Be accountable for the timely preparation and distribution of the Board Meeting material and ensure that the Board Meetings are conducted in accordance with the local legal requirements.  
    • Take directions from the Tax team in ensuring compliance with tax regulations, optimising tax cost and managing tax risk.

    Control framework

    • Drive a robust control environment which mitigates all material control risks in the Area.
    • Ensure that any risks and control deficiencies raised by any Audit team are addressed timely by driving the required actions and improvements.
    • Ensure that the control self-attestation is performed and reported correctly and is being performed consistently in an upright manner.

    Key Deliverables and Outputs:

    • Implement risk management processes, procedures, and protocols at the relevant operational sites.
    • Maintain compliance with risk management protocols, policies, and procedures by ensuring legal appointments are up to date, legal systems/ training is scheduled, safety registers/ checklists are conducted, risk meetings are conducted (monthly), contractors are managed, statistics are managed
    • Compile and review operational site risk assessments as and when required.
    • Utilise risk assessment results to facilitate the implementation of preventative and corrective measures.
    • Ensure compliance with Company safety regulations and adherence to safety standards, including safety induction and training
    • Inspect the place of work to determine whether any machinery, plant, equipment, substance, appliances or process is liable to cause bodily injury to any person working in the place of work
    • Ensure Business Continuity Management (BCM) Plans are in place, reviewed and implemented
    • Ensure Crisis Management Plans (CMP) are in place, reviewed and implemented
    • Ensure Emergency Response Plans (ERP) are in place, reviewed and implemented
    • Support sustainability by timeous and accurate capturing of SHEQ statistics and conducting audits as and when required.
    • Ensure that all non-conformances are timeously reported, investigated, and attended to within the prescribed time by using the company approved system.
    • Conduct incident and accident investigations and reviews in line with company policies and procedures.
    • Conduct internal risk audits in accordance with company policy and procedure to ensure good governance and compliance.
    • Liaise with Department of Employment and Labour as and when required i.e., regarding Sec 24 incidents
    • Compile monthly risk reports according to company standards and requirements.
    • Minute and track actions emanating from monthly warehouse HSSE meetings.
    • Perform Site Inductions for Visitors and Contractors.
    • Capture non-conformances on the Fatal5 system, and track closure rates by assignee and department.
    • Work with the operations team to implement the site specific PMP, further to ensuring alignment by the PMP to all regulatory expectations.
    • Conduct Critical Task Analysis for all warehouse activities and draft SWI’s accordingly to reduce overall task risk.
    • Develop, implement and drive continuous improvement the site specific TMP (Traffic Management Plan).
    • Ensure that all legal appointments for the warehouse team is up to date and in place.
    • Facilitate HSSE related training and ensure that all training registers are filed to evidence competencies.
    • Monitor contractor compliance to active PTW’s.
    • Develop, implement, and drive continuous improvement of the warehouse QMS such as the 5S system.
    • Conduct various RA’s based on the specific business environment needs, review and implement Risk Reduction Plans
    • Maintain a sound, “audit-ready” filing system, aligned to an ISO:45001, ISO:14001, and ISO:9001 auditing protocol.
    • Conduct internal TAPA audits and share recommendations with the warehouse management team.
    • Conduct daily toolbox meetings with site personnel.
    • Align the external security SOP with internal Maersk requirements, and operational expectations from warehouse management, and monitor compliance thereto.
    • Work closely with the warehouse management team to ensure that all operational objectives is achieved in a safe manner.
