    Reliability Engineer

    Job Purpose:

    Reporting to the Maintenance Manager Reliability, the incumbent of this position will be Reporting to the Maintenance Manager Reliability, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for driving an optimal asset management strategy to achieve a safe and reliable plant operation. 

    Qualifications & Expertise:

    • BSc Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree / B-Tech in Mechanical/ Electrical  Engineering
    • Government Certificate of Competency is advantageous
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA will be preferable

    Job Experience:

    • 4 years’ experience as a Mechanical or Electrical  in heavy industry environment
    • 2 years applicable reliability engineering or asset management will be advantageous
    • Experience within the Pulp & Paper industry will be beneficial

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Maintain updated equipment long term plan and risk register
    • Optimise maintenance strategies on equipment/process level
    • Root cause failure analysis and closeout
    • Set goals and achieve Maintenance KPIs
    • Manage SAP maintenance system and compliance to business processes
    • Create focussed reliability improvement programs
    • Support quality management
    • Understanding of maintenance principles and strategies is essential
    • Accurate reporting

    • Excellent technical problem-solving abilities
    • Medium term strategic view
    • Leadership potential
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills within a team environment
    • Must be able to work efficiently in a high pressure environment
    • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment
    • Computer literacy (including SAP) is essential

    • B.Sc Electronics Engineering or equivalent
    • Minimum NQF level 6

    Licence

    • Code 08 / EB license

    Job Experience

    • 5 – 10 years’ experience in electronics engineering in a specialist, supervisory or senior role with specific reference to the related leadership competencies within a manufacturing environment preferably within Pulp and Paper.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Determine and implement long term plans to prevent equipment obsolescence and implement plans to prevent recurrence of problem situations.
    • Manage and develop subordinates.
    • Implement effective and efficient electronic maintenance programs to ensure optimum performance of plant and equipment
    • Ensure compliance to all statutory regulations.
    • Ensure sufficient, periodic maintenance schedules are in place.
    • Ensure regular quality maintenance is performed.
    • Ensure all work, safety and systems are OHS Act compliant.
    • Keep abreast of legislation and regulatory amendments and standards.
    • Develop and approves safe works procedures.
    • Report on various activities to keep management informed.

    • Solid Technical Knowledge in Electronic Engineering.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and management skills.
