    Data Engineer

    Requirements

    Operational Delivery:

    • Gathers business requirements, executes projects and derives business insights.
    • Collects data and builds fit for purpose dashboards and reports based on requirements.
    • Troubleshooting of data issues and providing fit for purpose solutions with data engineering best practices
    • Complete projects/tasks assigned or working with other staff (internal /external) and following up on assigned projects/tasks. Partnering with business stakeholders to unpack data management requirements and design for future requirements based on future needs.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure data quality, accuracy, and security
    • Lead and manage a team of data engineers responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data infrastructure and systems.

    Data Engineering:

    • Design and implement robust Extract Transform Load (ETL) frameworks and processes.
    • Design and implement robust data integration strategies and processes.
    • Develop and implement data management (architecture and 1 / 3 o integration) policies, procedures, and best practices Manage data engineering projects and ensure timely delivery of high-quality results.
    • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems and enable data analytics.
    • Acquire and integrate data from different sources and enable integrated reporting.
    • Recruit, train, and mentor data engineering team members to promote growth and professional development Requirements

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • A Degree, or Higher National Diploma, or equivalent certification in an analytical field, e.g. Informatics, Data Science, Commerce Certification advantageous (SQL, Data Engineering, Architecture, Ab Initio etc.)

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • 4-7 years of experience in data engineering or a related field
    • Data warehousing and integration experience
    • Ability to perform complex data analysis and data deep dives Experience in building large data repositories.

    Card Manager - Sandton

    Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure the end-to-end conceptualization, delivery, and management of a compelling set of card products and capabilities to the market, in line with the Bank’s various segment strategies and value propositions.
    • Ensure the product value proposition meets client needs and is competitive in the marketplace
    • Provide expert support in the acquisition or development of new card programs in the Alliance Banking business.
    • Conduct market research to gain insight into client needs • Partner with Marketing and Channel teams to drive new card sales
    • Work with Finance/Risk to evaluate the performance of the card portfolio and identify opportunities
    • Monitor client feedback and drive best in class client experience

    Product Development and management

    • Introduce new card products with Access Bank and Alliance Banking
    • Card Product development and management measured as a quantitative and qualitative assessment of efforts to enhance existing, and introduce new, Card products in line with the Bank’s strategy, that proactively deliver new revenue opportunities and meet changing business requirements, etc.
    • This includes Business support, measured as a quantitative and qualitative review of new initiatives in support of business development and customer acquisition

    Card Scheme relationship management

    • Measured as a quantitative and qualitative review of how efficiently and effectively issues and queries are resolved, the general effectiveness of the Bank’s relationships with the card associations and favorable negotiation and achievement of support agreement targets and objectives.

    Regulatory and industry management

    • Measured as a quantitative assessment of the Bank’s management of and adherence to the industry payments landscape.
    • PASA and PCH representative

    Revenue Management, interchange, and bi-lateral management

    Measured as a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the revenues achieved through:

    • Card revenues vs budget bank-wide
    • Onboarding support for new card programs in direct support of Alliance Banking
    • Onboarding support for new card programs in direct support of the co-op partnership model
    • Favorable bi-laterals achieved in order to support the revenues of the Bank.
    • Operational efficiencies in ensuring revenue improvements (e.g., bin stock management)

    Academic Knowledge:

    • Minimum of a 3-year tertiary education, ideally a commerce related degree, or compensated for through related experience.

    Work Experience:

    • Must have a minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in card product management, development or enablement in a banking, payments, fintech or related environment.
    • Preferably work exposure to new card program implementations (debit, prepaid and / or credit)

    Senior Manager - Wholesale Compliance

    Requirements

    Regulatory Compliance Oversight:

    • Provide oversight and guidance on regulatory compliance matters related to wholesale banking activities.
    • Stay updated on regulatory developments impacting wholesale banking operations and ensure timely implementation of necessary changes.
    • Develop and implement CRMPs on all legislative elements that impact Retail Banking. Target: 95% of compliance within 30 days.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Develop and deliver compliance training programs tailored to wholesale banking staff to enhance awareness and understanding of regulatory requirements.
    • Provide ongoing support and guidance to staff on compliance-related matters and inquiries.
    • Attend stakeholder meetings and regulatory meetings, as and when required.
    • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of regular reports to various stakeholders, EXCO and Audit and Compliance Committee.

    Risk Assessment and Mitigation: 

    • Conduct risk assessments of wholesale banking operations to identify compliance risks and vulnerabilities.
    • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate compliance risks effectively, collaborating with relevant stakeholders as needed.

    Compliance Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Establish compliance monitoring programs to assess adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies within wholesale banking.
    • Prepare and submit regulatory reports on compliance activities, findings, and remedial actions to senior management and regulatory authorities as required.
    • Coordinate and facilitate compliance reviews and audits of wholesale banking activities to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Develop and implement corrective action plans to address findings from compliance reviews and audits.

    Training and Awareness:

    • Develop and deliver compliance training programs tailored to wholesale banking staff to enhance awareness and understanding of regulatory requirements.
    • Provide ongoing support and guidance to staff on compliance-related matters and inquiries.

    Team development:

    • To assist fellow compliance officer’s / team members in achieving project or operation goals and reporting deadlines.
    • To Identify and extract any possible synergies that exist between internal audit and to develop/foster a co-operative relationship which would be to the advantage of the business.
    • General compliance administrative duties

    Policies and Procedures Management:

    • Develop, review, and update compliance policies and procedures for wholesale banking functions, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure effective implementation and adherence to compliance policies and procedures

    Personal Development:

    • Be willing to learn and grow by being exposed to various disciplines within the department and not work in isolation.
    • Take responsibility of personal development within the compliance sphere.
    • Attend compliance related workshops, training interventions and conferences.
    • Contribute by assisting in ensuring training hours are completed, and training is attended.
    • Ensuring attendance of business workshops and training sessions.
    • Participate on industry-specific associations, standing committees, work groups and other interest groups in the financial services industry, where necessary.

    Academic Knowledge:

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law, or a related field; and/or
    • Appropriate professional qualification from a reputable educational institution or professional body; or
    • Appropriate accredited compliance related course endorsed by the Compliance Institute.
    • Successfully completed FAIS RE5 (and preferably RE1)
    • Post graduate diploma in Compliance Management (advantageous)
    • Member of the Compliance Institute.
    • C(Prac) certified or studying towards (advantageous).

    Work Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in compliance or regulatory roles within the banking or financial services industry, with a focus on wholesale banking.
    • 3 years’ FAIS experience for a Cat 1 License
    • In-depth knowledge of wholesale banking products, operations, and regulatory requirements.
    • Understanding and ability to assess compliance risks.
    • Ability to interpret legislation.
    • Understanding of and ability to implement monitoring methodologies.
    • Good presentation skills (Ability to provide awareness training).
    • Ability to provide advice and guidance to Business.
    • Ability to compose compliance related reports.
