    Micro Technician

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

    • To ensure that all incoming raw materials and all outgoing packed products meet Danone microbiological standards. Monitor and identify substandard situations / processes in terms of manufacturing hygiene compliance on site. Act as a reference for microbiological and hygienic standards and behaviour on site.

    Product Safety

    • Is responsible for the identification and monitoring of microbiological standards.
    • Participates in the development and reviews the incoming raw material and outgoing product test regime and monitors the program, recommending corrective action where required.
    • Tests and releases raw materials to the factory, intermediate product (WIP) and finished products based on the successful test results.
    • Prepare, dispense and sterilization of reagents
    • Conducts analysis of development samples, packed products and consumer complaint sample
    • Recommends changes to processes.
    • Validates and verifies effectiveness of cleaning processes and procedures and recommends corrective action where required
    • Identifies behaviours that will impact microbiologically on raw materials, product or WIP, equipment etc and recommends relevant actions
    • Coordinate training and awareness for site teams of microbiology, hygiene, good manufacturing practices and its implications and controls.
    • Understanding of HACCP requirements and participates in HACCP reviews
    • Understanding in Food safety

    Hygiene

    • Ensures that the manufacturing process is hygienic and microbiologically safe for the production, by monitoring the implementation of appropriate and sustainable hygiene program is in place, according to GMP
    • Ensures that immediate corrective action is implemented in the case of non-conformance and possible risk to product safety.
    • Identifies suitable corrective action plans to address non conformances
    • Conducts hygiene audits of the factory environment, site canteens and ablutions, people and 3rd Party, makes recommendations with respect to changes that need to be made to management or the maintenance department.
    • Swab analysis as required as per GMP
    • Conducts environmental sampling, analyses, reporting and escalation of non-compliance.

    Training

    • Conducts training on Micro and GMP new personnel and refresher training for existing personnel when required

    Stock Returns

    • Conduct relevant micro tests trade returns, raw materials, in-process and packed product that may be substandard or over age.
    • Makes stock return judgement based on the micro safety of the products and recommends the necessary action in line with site and Company policy.
    • Co-ordinates the paperwork and supervises the physical action to ensure the follow through of recommendation

    Reporting

    • Responsible for all reporting of micro results on relevant systems.
    • Escalation of out of spec micro results to Lab team leader within 24 hours of detecting the result.

    Other

    • Generates reports as and when required to provide micro performance to the business/ site

    Environment

    • Ensure adherence to environmental policies, procedures and standards
    • Monitor and manage adherence to waste management practices and standards

    Safety

    • Comply to the departmental safety agenda, audits & action plans

    REQUIREMENT OF THE JOB
    Qualification(s)

    • National Diploma in Food Technology/ Biotechnology or BSc in Food Science/Microbiology.
    • Certified training in appropriate Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) & Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP): i.e. ISO 9001, ISO 17025 or equivalent
    • Knowledge of HACCP / Food Safety Management System would be an advantage
    • Knowledge of SAP (Purchasing, Release and blockage of stock. – we make use of Clover system for block and release of stock
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

    Experience and Skills

    • At least 2 to 3 years’ experience as a microbiologist (preferably food industry)
    • Knowledge within the Quality discipline in an FMCG / Packaging environment or laboratory environment
    • Dairy processing & technology experience would be an advantage
    • Strong attention to detail, observation, organizational, and leadership skills
    • Strong knowledge of mathematics, data analysis, and statistical methods
    • Strong computer skills: Advanced MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel). Data analysis & management, graphs, tables, etc.
    • Strong knowledge of Quality & Food safety management and laboratory management systems
    • Analysis & risk management skills
    • Problem-solving skills

    Quality RM /PM Technician

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

    To assist with the quality assurance service to the business to ensure that incoming raw and packaging materials comply to Danone’s requirements.

    Inbound

    • Analyses raw materials and packaging materials against company’s specifications and standards in line with the incoming control/material release plan
    • Analyze incoming raw/packaging materials upon request
    • Liaise with SQAE (supplier quality engineer), production and raw/pack material suppliers to address factory non conformances
    • Carries out audits in the warehouse and factory (incl. milk reception) to ensure that GMP is adhered to daily.
    • Weekly verification of COA’s for both raw and packaging materials
    • Participates/support in raw material supplier approval with SQAE
    • Ensures that non-conforming raw and packaging material detected is blocked on the system and the necessary SAP movements are executed.
    • Ensures that all in-bound quality checks are being done as per SOP in the following areas:
    • RM/PM receiving in stores
    • Milk reception
    • Verification of COA for liquid whey for all batches received and ensure micro analyses is executed for every batch
    • Provide statistical data for SPC and process capability for inbound materials
    • Support project work or R&I(innovation/renovation) .
    • Handover and training of packaging and artwork standards to lab team.
    • Maintenance of material standards for quick and easy access.
    • Maintain relevant equipment used to conduct analyses (ie. calibration, validation)

    Production / Non-conformance management

    • Support operations and engineering with trouble shooting quality non-conformances relating to raw and packaging materials
    • Ensuring all relevant data record management system is updated (example SAP/Bamboo)
    • Conduct investigation on raw or packaging material complaints and share findings/report with SQAE.
    • Escalate trends or concerns picked up during % A, B, Cs / analyses relating to raw and packaging.
    • Participate in handling of non-conformance investigations
    • Deliver calculated decision making in case of non-conforming results, where required.
    • Raise non conformances against suppliers where defects are picked up and escalate SQAE.
    • Communicate non-conformances to Internal stakeholders (Industrial, R&I and Extended QFS Teams)

    Food Safety Compliance

    • Support internal and external audits through driving closure of gaps.
    • Report on all activities and trends pertaining to the quality and food safety management system.
    • Give input to improvement of quality and food safety systems to improve efficiency of the system.
    • Responsible to ensure, allocated supporting function is always audit ready

    Continuous improvement

    • Participate in quality continuous improvement programs with SQAE.
    • Support in quality continuous improvement projects in the factory.

    Consumer and Customer Investigation

    • Support consumer/customer investigation relating to raw/packaging materials, and timeous feedback to SQAE and internal stakeholders
    • Ability to spot issues/ trends and flag/escalate to SQAE.

    Innovation

    • Support & participate in factory trials as a quality Representative for raw/packaging.
    • Support product innovation / renovation during trials for analytical analyses and reporting
    • Providing all necessary feedback for launch KPIs during the launch period
    • Escalation of key issues to SQAE and Laboratory manager.

    Safety

    • Drive and implement the departmental safety agenda, audits & action plans.
    • Identify, and report safety hazards.
    • Execute safety incident/accident investigations as required.
    • Participate in safety dialogues as per guidelines.
    • Ensure adherence of team to safety policies, procedures and process

    General

    • Attend daily/operation meetings to represent the QA function when required
    • Stand in for colleagues (during periods of sick leave, training, etc.) as required
    • Participate in relevant team and factory meetings.
    • Assist with purchase order creation when required

    KEY REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

    Process Lead

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for leading the routine and non-routine improvement activities to improve line performance (PR).
    • Actively lead IPS and UPS to attack critical and chronic defects with involvement of EO.
    • Provide OTF coaching to help EOs address CL outages or understand and resolve root cause of chronic issues (complete 6W2H or to make progress on UPS on their equipment).
