    Civil Engineer

    Civil Engineer (12 Month Contract)

    • Our client is a forward-thinking mining organisation with a clear vision to be a globally significant, low-cost producer of strategic commodities essential for a sustainable future. Their flagship operation is positioned on Zimbabwe’s renowned Great Dyke, featuring both open-pit and long-life underground mining phases, with continued studies into expanding value through base-metal reef utilisation.
    • They are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with strong mining-sector exposure and a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience to join their growing team. This position will be based in Bryanston, Gauteng. 
    • The successful candidate will provide civil engineering expertise across project development, infrastructure design, construction oversight, and operational support to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective project delivery.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng / BSc) or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 8 years’ civil engineering experience within the mining industry (open-pit and/or underground experience beneficial).
    • Demonstrated experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of mining-related civil infrastructure.
    • Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, surface water and stormwater management, tailings and waste facility design, and haul road development.
    • Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Projects.
    • Knowledge of mining legislation, engineering standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
    • Professional registration with ECSA (PrEng/PrTechEng) or progress toward registration is advantageous.
    • Strong project management capabilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and contractor supervision.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and review civil engineering designs for mining infrastructure including roads, stormwater systems, platforms, drainage structures, water management solutions, and plant-related civils.
    • Manage conceptual, feasibility, and detailed design stages for civil engineering components of mining projects.
    • Oversee construction and contractor activities to ensure compliance with design standards, safety regulations, and project schedules.
    • Conduct geotechnical assessments and collaborate with mining, geology, and environmental teams to integrate civil solutions across mine planning and operations.
    • Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, cost estimates, project schedules, and risk assessments.
    • Support the development and optimisation of both surface and underground infrastructure layouts.
    • Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
    • Monitor and assess existing civil infrastructure to recommend maintenance, upgrades, or optimisation initiatives.

    Electrical Engineer

    Electrical Engineer (12 Month Contract)

    • They are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong mining-sector exposure and a minimum of 8 years’ electrical engineering experience to join their dynamic team. 
    • This position will be based in Bryanston, Gauteng. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, design, implementation, and optimisation of electrical infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective power systems across all project phases.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng / BSc) or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 8 years’ electrical engineering experience within the mining industry (surface and/or underground experience advantageous).
    • Strong knowledge of electrical systems used in mining environments, including HV/LV reticulation, substations, MCCs, switchgear, power distribution networks, and plant electrical systems.
    • Proven experience in the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure on mining operations.
    • Familiarity with protection systems, SCADA, instrumentation, and automation/control systems.
    • Understanding of electrical safety standards, mining regulations, and compliance requirements (SANS, MHSA, etc.).
    • Proficiency in relevant electrical engineering design software and tools.
    • Professional registration (PrEng/PrTechEng) with ECSA or progress toward registration is highly advantageous.
    • Strong project management, contractor oversight, and technical reporting skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, review, and optimise electrical infrastructure for mining operations, including power distribution systems, substations, transformers, MCCs, and control systems.
    • Support feasibility studies, conceptual planning, and detailed engineering design for electrical components of large-scale mining and processing projects.
    • Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, safety standards, and statutory requirements.
    • Perform electrical load studies, network modelling, and system reliability assessments.
    • Collaborate with mechanical, civil, mining, and processing teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
    • Prepare technical reports, project schedules, cost estimates, and risk assessments related to electrical works.
    • Manage contractors, suppliers, and external consultants to ensure quality and timely project execution.
    • Develop and maintain electrical safety systems, procedures, and compliance documentation.
    • Support operational teams with troubleshooting, optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives for electrical systems.
