    Manufacturing Excellence Expert

    Position Summary

    • With a history spanning over 150 years, Nestlé didn’t become the world’s leading food and beverages brand by chance. We are now looking for a Market Manufacturing Excellence Expert to be based in Bryanston.
    • In this role you will be responsible for supporting T&P Team to achieve World-Class Manufacturing Excellence by leveraging Manufacturing practices to improve business results in a continuous and sustainable manner and ultimately help Nestlé and the market become a Lean Enterprise. The Market Manufacturing Excellence Expert consistently drives the implementation of NCE and standards in manufacturing across the Market/Region ensuring the alignment with NCE initiatives (TPM, incl. FI, AM, PM, etc.)

    A day in the life of a Market Manufacturing Excellence Expert:

    Strategic plan development and management:

    • Integrate TPM with other NCE practices (Foundations & Lean) and Functional Systems (e.g. NIMS,DMO, NWSM, NGMP)
    • Coordinate the support from external consultants if applicable
    • Ensure that TPM work is impacting both results and the culture change towards the market vision
    • Communicate TPM activities and results to Steering Committee in the Market/Region
    • Coach Market Steering Committee in Governance routines to manage TPM implementation for business results
    • Communicate / report the TPM activities and results to the Market Manufacturing Excellence Manager.      

    Establish adequate competencies for Manufacturing Excellence in the Market 

    • Stewards, trains, supports and coaches Factory Leadership Teams in the NCE in Manufacturing competencies (e.g.GA, FI, LVS, AM) and applicable manufacturing standards.
    • Develops competency of Market T&P team, supporting them to apply methodologies to improve and sustain results (e.g. all NCE methodologies, Value Added Activities, Workload studies, etc.).
    • Supports the development of the career succession planning of the Market Manufacturing Excellence community.
    • Drive the TPM implementation by supporting the Factory Managers, Manufacturing Excellence Business Partners and Market Pillars Leaders
    • Lead and coach the Market Pillar Leaders.  Motivate and empower people through positive attitude
    • Stimulate change in traditional mind set towards “Zero”
    • Support the factories in resources availability
    • Support the Market Manufacturing Excellence Manager on organizing TPM Study Tours and Workshops
    • Coach the factory manager and Manufacturing Excellence Business Partners in terms of TPM and NCE Practices
    • Coordinate TPM trainings at market level and cascade to the factory level
    • Support the planning, resources and location definition processes of the corporate training activities in line with the Market ME Managers / Zone ME Manager to close key TPM competency gaps.     

    Calibrating:

    • Lead the Promotion Campaign for TPM in the Market /Region
    • Coordinate / participate in defining and executing the market TPM masterplan to deliver Business needs
    • Promote and support cross-fertilization of ideas, knowledge, standards and improvements across Factories within Market & outside Market.
    • Integrate the pillars to avoid silo working.
    • Ensure an overall understanding of the different TPM pillars and how they integrate through the TPM master plan to deliver the improved results
    • Calibration of assessments and step/phase audits between factories to assure thorough TPM implementation
    • Ensure alignment with Reference Guide and Market Strategy
    • Assessment of the implementation progress/ factories.                                                                                                                           

    What will make you successful?

    • Degree in Engineering
    • Factory experience (3 years +), preferable acting as Manufacturing Excellence Coordinator/Manager or Production/Maintenance Manager
    • Strong Practical experience in leading and coaching Continuous Improvement programs (3 years+), preferably experienced in several pillars
    • Experience of program management
    • Experience of working with management
    • Leading and coaching problem-solving activities (basic, intermediate and complex problem-solving methodologies including: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification and SMED projects)
    • Experience in leading complex change or transformation programs

    Trainee Team Leader

    Position Summary

    • We are now looking for a Trainee Team Leader to be based in Harrismith Factory. 
    • In this role you will be responsible to manage of designated team, plant, and materials in a culture of performance monitoring, review and action, open communication, employee involvement, employee relations, continuous improvement in support of achieving organization mission and objectives. To ensure employee safety, product quality and performance while delivering on time the shift production plan.

    A day in the life of a Trainee Team Leader:

    • Ensure the timely deployment of People development plan and assure the competencies of his/her team as per the agreed plan with PM (proper training inc. equipment, safety procedures, hygiene) Enforce strict compliance to standard operating procedures (SOPs) by all personnel within the shift. 
    • Coach employees to fulfil and exceed the requirements of the job through NCE approach.
    • Ensure that the working areas are kept clean and are maintained in working order including all installations in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
    • Check and enforce personnel hygiene & safety e.g., protective clothing (uniform), shoe change & hand wash.
    • Ensure continuous line Controls and immediate corrective action to assure prescribed quality and to ensure compliance with manufacturing instructions.
    • Ensure ongoing smooth operations of factory through effective employee and industrial relations management.
    • Ensure that there is an adequate distribution of skills to enable production plan to be achieved effectively.
    • Ensure timely launch of new products to the Market as per agreed with the business unit.
    • Ensure adequate maintenance of the installations in coordination with quality, engineering & administration.

    What will make you successful?

    • Degree/Diploma in Food sciences, Chemistry or Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
    • 3 years or more experience in similar role.
    • Experience in FMCG will add as an advantage.
    • Demonstration of leadership ability by leading a project within a factory environment.
    • Demonstration of Leadership skills in positively confronting inappropriate behavior and using everyday coaching to ensure involvement of the workforce.

    Instrument Technician

    Position Summary

Perfection is at the heart of what we do, and our people are always looking for the next big idea to cement our status. We are now looking for an Instrument Technician to be based in Harrismith Factory.
    • In this role you will be responsible for driving improvements and performance of machinery and assets, reporting to the Automation Engineer. Maintenance of instrumentation onsite to ensure 100% compliance with food safety standards and Plant Asset Intensity. Attending to instrumentation faults and breakdowns in the factory as well as calibration instrumentation. (Metal detectors/Xray/etc.) Good instrumentation understanding and be able to communicate properly and openly. Need to be a good problem solver and the drive to excel.

    A day in the life of an Instrument Technician:

    • Carries out planned maintenance in allocated sections as instructed by Team Leader.
    •  Report all defects found and propose a remedial action.
    • Utilize trade skills in a professional manner, working cleanly, precisely and ensuring others that work with him/her does the same.
    • Complete and sign work sheets after completion of each task daily.
    • Complete the defect list and or check list as instructed by Automation Engineer.
    • Make sure that all instruments are calibrated, and an instrument a calibration system is updated after each calibration.
    • Make sure that all tags related to a particular instrument are displayed clearly and instruments are cleaned and in good order.
    • Attend to breakdowns and or assist Electrical or Mechanical on problem solving where needed.
    • Quick and efficient fault finding, think and perform under pressure. Regular feedback to Automation Engineer.
    • Make quick and healthy decisions based on critical and priority activities.
    • After completion of the repairs, test machine or equipment and communicate.
    • He/she is proactive and prevent breakdowns.

     What will make you successful?

    • Degree/Diploma in Instrumentation or N6 Instrumentation with Trade Test
    • 2 years’ experience as an Instrument Technician, preferably within the FMCG sector.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
    • Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills. Attention to detail.
    •  Basic PLC programming
    •  Understand Nestle QMS; HACCP; NGMP.

    Costing Specialist

    Position Summary

    • To provide support and expertise in the area of cost/costing analysis.  Undertake complex and critical research, interpret the results of analysis and provide alternatives / recommendations for further consideration. To ensure accurate, timely efficient and compliant financial reporting at NiM and Regional level (where relevant).
    • Furthermore, the position covers activities under Period end Close for Group reporting, local statutory reporting and internal management reporting, in accordance with Nestlé Accounting Standards, Nestlé Costing Standards and local accounting standards.                        

    A day in the life of a Costing Specialist:

    • Cash Flow & Continuous Improvement                                                                                                     
    • Participate in Market driven Projects when Product Costing contribution is required. Coordinate OPEX Savings.

    Analysis

    • Act as a central contact point and liaison for all questions / issues in terms of Variance Analysis within the Factory's Cost of Production.
    • Ensure timely communication of targeted information to the relevant parties following period-end close

    Reporting and Analytics

    • Coordinate and execute COGS forecasting within the Monthly Business Planning (MBP) process. 
    • Ensure transparency of Costs of Goods Sold within the Dynamic Forecast with adequate reporting. 
    • Ensure timely communication of quarterly COGS rates to the Business Unit Controllers. 

    Business Planning

    • Participate in business planning; participate in coordinating the SCB process with the factories. 
    • Be a contact point for questions / issues relating to material prices and master data (e.g. proc type, special proc type, purchase info record by subcontracting, price unit and costing lot sizes, all data from CV3 and CV4).

    Internal Controls  

    • Ensure the proper application of new or updated Guidelines and its integration within the concerned Costing Processes. 
    • Development or update of costing functionalities, tools and solutions are properly tested and understood for all issues related to inventory valuation, subcontracting and co-manufacturing. Act as SPOC for these subjects.    

    Knowledge Transfer

    • Promote clear understanding of costing processes both within the costing community and the Head office Finance community.               

    Compliance

    • Ensure Nestle financial policies, Accounting Standards and Costing Standards are followed within the Costing Community.                                                                                                                                 

    What will make you successful?

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Honours Degree in Accounting or appropriate financial qualification. 
    • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA (SA) or CIMA or ACCA) will be an added advantage.
    • Prior experience in Costing, ideally within a factory environment.
    • Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry or manufacturing experience.
    • Experience within a network organization (internal and external providers).
    • Can effectively multitask with tight deadlines.
    • Effective communication & stakeholder engagement.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking/problem solving abilities.
