    Section Rock Engineer, D4, KHT121/24GS

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Ensure effective Rock Engineering service delivery and support to the Mining Operations, Mine Planning, Survey and Geology sections
    • Ensure adherence to organisational best practice and legislative requirements
    • Actively participate in creating a safe mining environment
    • Maintain effective stakeholder relationships
    • Ensure successful teamwork and supervision of Rock Engineering resources
    • Continuous improvement of the Rock Engineering function
    • Effectively monitor and control Rock Engineering activities
    • Develop quality controls to ensure alignment of operational Rock Engineering interventions, systems and processes with standardization requirements as well as policies, procedures and operating standards
    • Analyse and interpret Rock Engineering data and information to identify changes in the production environment, defects and safety risks
    • Ensure effective service delivery and support to ensure a productive mining environment
    • Conduct regular inspections and ensure problems are addressed proactively and aligned with Rock Engineering requirements
    • Ensure that operating standards, policies and procedures are appropriate and clearly understood
    • Ensure that all activities are performed in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act, and Minerals Act
    • Provide coaching and advice to operational stakeholders related to strata control services and support aligned to best practices
    • Provide input into the development of safety standards, processes, policies and procedures

    Requirements:

    • BSc Degree Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related science degree (NQF Level 7)
    • Chamber of Mines Rock Mechanics Certificate: Coal
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Strata Control/Rock Engineering in the coal mining industry
    • Registered as a Rock Engineer with SANIRE
    • Understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act and Minerals and Energy Act
    • Knowledge of Rock Engineering practices, principles, processes, best practices and new technologies
    • Computer literacy (MS Office and relevant Rock Engineering Packages)
    • Valid K53 driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Advantageous:

    • Advanced certificate in Rock Engineering and/or MSc in Rock Engineerin

    VOHE Superintendent UG, D4, NDC121/24GS

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Assists the General Manager with designing and governance of VOHE standard risk management and monitoring requirements.
    • Ensure short, medium, and long-term (Life of Mine) planning of ventilation and occupational hygiene management.
    • Plays on oversight role to ensure that VOHE legal requirements, Seriti standards and policies are adhered to, Codes of Practices implemented at the operation.
    • Ensure correct aggregation of VOHE consultant inputs and technical expertise.
    • Ensure the development of goals for the VOHE service consistent with the goals of the organization.
    • Undertakes quality control and auditing of the site VOHE function.
    • Collates, interprets, and verifies VOHE reports and statistics for validity/integrity before submission to group.
    • Undertakes ICAM investigations of VOHE related incidents.
    • Ensure VOHE stakeholder engagement and compliance with corporate and local legislation.
    • Undertakes relevant operational hygiene research aimed at improving hygiene systems and services.
    • Undertakes Exposure reduction projects.
    • Liaise with external service providers regarding the monitoring of Occupational Hygiene hazards.
    • Develop monitoring schedules.
    • Ensure that Overexposure Investigations and Occupational Illness investigations are conducted.
    • Develop exposure control plans.
    • Ensure that Health and Hygiene assessments are conducted.
    • Ensure the monitoring and investigation of exposure levels.
    • Provides the Occupational Medical Practitioner with relevant hygiene data to enable development of a relevant and appropriate medical surveillance program.
    • Ensures compliance to medical surveillance program.
    • Promotes fatigue management program.
    • Serves as the link between the site clinic and the operation.
    • Contribute to safety improvement plan implementations and VFL.
    • Manages or supports ventilation engineering process for the operations.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 with Math (Not Literacy) or N3 Math and Science
    • Mine Environmental Control (MEC) Certificate
    • 5 Years’ experience in the mining/engineering field with a minimum of 2 years as Senior VOHE Officer /Occupational Hygiene Specialist at an underground operation
    • Computer literacy (MS Office, SAP, other specialised technical programmes)
    • A valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    • B Tech, BSc, B Eng., National Mechanical/Engineering Diploma

    Faceboss UG, C4, SAM_NDC105/24GS

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Ensure that Codes of Practices, Standard Operating Procedures and Legal Requirements are communicated and adhered to in area of responsibility.
    • Execute and achieve agreed operational planning and production targets for area of responsibility.
    • Plan, lead, organise and control section of responsibility.
    • Supervise, coordinate and motivate the mining team in the area of responsibility.
    • The role is Mine Health and Safety Act. appointed in terms of: Section 7 (4) of the MH&SA you are appointed to carry out certain functions of the manager and Minerals Act Regulation 2.9. 2 in force in terms of Schedule 4.4 of the Mine Health and Safety Act 1996 (Act No. 26 of 1996) (“MH&SA”), you are appointed, as a Faceboss, to assist the Manger in enforcing observation of regulations

    Requirements:

    • Grade 11 – Math, Science and English
    • UG Rock Breaking / UG Blasting qualification
    • Minimum 2 years appointed as a Miner
    • Solid knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act, including keeping up to date with any changes to the Act
    • Knowledge of safety, health and environmental within the coal mining industry
    • Sound knowledge of core value chain and operational codes of practices and procedures
    • In-depth knowledge relating to underground mining operations as described in the operations manual for continuous miner operations
    • Knowledge of mine planning principles and processes
    • Good knowledge of equipment capabilities and operating principles. (Basic operating skills)
    • Basic understanding of engineering principles and practices
    • Valid driver’s license – Code 10 (for personnel transporters - buses)
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    • Safety Courses S2 ORMP
