    HSE Technician M/F

    The Health, Safety & Environment Technician is responsible to support the HSE Manager for promoting and ensuring the health and safety of Voltalia workers and subcontractors in the Bolobedu powerplant site, the compliance with the environmental requirements and the continuous improvement processes to satisfy stakeholders and ensuring legal compliance.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Support the implementation in the local organization of the HSE Policies, Procedures and HSE documentary organization defined by Voltalia Group;
    • Ensure the local Health & Safety and Environment legal compliance;
    • Monitoring of rules and other national and international applicable normative documents;
    • Participation in the Risk Assessment analysis for all the activities, development of HSE Plans Preventive Instructions, Method Statements, Checklists and other specific local HSE documentation;
    • Support the development and implementation of the Emergency Plans;
    • Training of workers and subcontractors of Voltalia in the HSE Plans, Emergency Plans, Procedures, Inductions, Toolbox Tools, Emergency Drills and Awareness actions;
    • Conducting HSE monitoring of the site, safety inspections and audits for Health, Safety & Environment matters;
    • Reporting Health, Safety & Environment KPI´s in a monthly basis;
    • Reporting immediately any incident, developing further required investigations (if needed);
    • Voltalia representation towards official agencies in case of accident (environmental or safety);
    • Participation in HSE meetings, internal and external with Subcontractors, Suppliers and Clients (if needed);
    • Search for continuous improvement through audits and monitoring of internal processes, ensuring the implementation and effectiveness of the action plans (corrective and preventive actions).

    REQUIREMENTS
    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Education: Technical level Graduation (National Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environment or Quality or related areas studies is a plus) would be advantageous;
    • Professionally qualified, such as the National Examination Board of Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Certificate and / or Diploma, or higher;
    • Be able to do physical site work (must be able to obtain medical fitness certificate in terms of Annexure 3 of OHS Act);
    • Valid South African driver’s license;

    Knowledge/Specific Training:

    • Training in Health and Safety at Work and/or Environment;
    • Training in Audits;
    • Training in Firefighting;
    • First Aid training;
    • Periodical competence training;
    • Excellent knowledge of the law, regulations and norms of Health and Safety Work;

    Language Proficiency:

    • Fluent: English.

    O&M Site Manager M/F

    Reporting to the O&M Manager, the main responsabilities of the O&M Site Manager on the Bolobedu Site in Limpopo are:

    • Provide fast on-site and remote troubleshooting, recommend and implement fault recovery solutions for production reestablishment;
    • Carry out on-site specialized technical maintenance activities;
    • Participate in Integrated Commissioning & Start-up activities;
    • Carry out on-site technical assessments;
    • Provide technical reports and evidences to support claiming processes;
    • Provide training and technical workshops to spread and consolidate maintenance competences and skills;
    • Participate in development of maintenance management processes and systems;
    • Produce technical documentation to support the maintenance activity;
    • Recommend/ study more effective and efficient maintenance practices and tools;
    • Disseminate good practices and standards;
    • Contribute to the develop of reliability studies and failures analysis;
    • Participate in monitoring and audit of implemented processes, procedures and activities;
    • Represent employees on matters affecting health, safety, and the physical work environment;
    • Conduct and chair applicable SHE Committee Meetings and sign off on minutes;
    • Support incident investigations as per Section 18 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS) (as amended);
    • Act as a committee member for Section 24 incidents as per the OHS Act, endorsing investigation findings;
    • Assume GMR 2(1) legal appointment and responsibilities as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993 (OHSA) General Machinery Regulations;
    • Authorize appointments in line with the OHS Act, including GMR 2(7), SHE Representatives, First Aiders, etc., to ensure compliance within the designated area.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Degree or Master in Electrical, Electronics or Automation Engineering;
    • Possession of Government Certificate of Competency GCC (Factories) in terms of the OHS Act;
    • Experience of Government Machinery Regulations GMR2 (1) and GMR 2(7) appointment in terms of the OHSA Act;
    • Be able to do physical site work (must be able to obtain medical fitness certificate in terms of Annexure 3 of OHS Act);
    • Experience in commissioning and maintenance of photovoltaic power plants;
    • Experience in photovoltaic power plants (preferred);
    • Experience in electronics and automation fault detection techniques and troubleshooting;
    • Maintenance Management - Standards and Continues Improvement Process;
    • Experience in SCADA and remote control systems;
    • Experience in data acquisition and communications systems (preferred);
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and reporting software;
    • Advanced English reading/writing/speaking (mandatory);
    • Must have a valid South African driver’s license.
