    Electrical Component Engineer (F/m/d) - Kariega

    Brief Role Description

    To ensure VWSA products are engineered to local market requirements by designing, developing, testing and introducing locally manufactured components, by adapting and developing German sourced designs to be compatible with local environmental conditions and by issuing technical data in line with the correct component engineering level to meet the following criteria:

    • VWSA products are built problem free
    • Local requirements in terms of local content are met
    • Unique product features
    • Safety and reliability in service
    • Discontinued models but still required in South Africa
    • Adhering to the required Product Emergence Process (PEP) manual.

    Possible Tasks within this Role

    • The release of Electrical components for vehicles
    • The resolution of design related problems on all locally manufactured platforms
    • Co-ordination of testing and release of components and system, locally and at source
    • Maintaining and updating the BOM system
    • Problem analysis
    • Maintaining and updating the bill of materials system
    • Cost analysis of various components, systems and projects
    • Cost saving (PKO) initiation and investigations
    • Project management on new or changed systems and components

    Qualification requirements

    • A National Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering)

    Experience needed

    • A minimum of 5 years’ design and development experience in an automotive components for volume production

    Temporary Group Parts Industrial Engineer - Kariega

    Brief Role Description

     To develop and enhance the operational manpower efficiencies within group parts warehouse by conducting warehouse efficiency studies, reports, and strategic projects.

    Possible Tasks within this Role

    • Perform & apply time and motion studies to distribution centre operations.
    • Co ordinating re-engineering process improvements and implementations.
    • Investigating process-related problems and recommending and implementing improvements to ensure smooth operation of all processes.
    • Planning, analysing, and preparing for incoming new parts.
    • Ensuring sufficient storage space for all different types of parts
    • Regulating the parts flow by controlling the master data set-up by means of timeously identifying and accurately capturing all new projects and non- project parts on the ET2000 system according to storage type, storage section, put away strategy, bin type and picking area.
    • Identifying space constraints and relocate stock to suitable storage & Identifying parts which are due for scrapping or obsolescence.
    • Monitor the ET 2000 system to ensure fully operational to avoid downtime and ensure errors are corrected timeously.
    • Support and monitor the ERP – EWM interfaces and monitor the auto-job functions.
    • Liaise with Information Systems department as to the Distribution Centers’ requirements on current and future system enhancements to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted workflow.
    • Coordinating periodic audits of racks and bins, and redesign and modify to utilize the warehouse space to its optimum.
    • Setting up a reporting process whereby the operators are able to report problem bins, inappropriate master data.
    • Implementing corrective actions and sustainable solutions to all challenges identified.
    • Maintaining all manner of demarcation, i.e. aisle numbers, zone descriptions, safety warnings, zoned areas.
    • Ensure the General Machinery Regulations 2(1) maintenance & support.
    • Support Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental and Energy policies and regulations (ISO 5001 & 14001)

    Qualification requirements

    • A recognised 3-year National diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering

    Technical Data Analyst - Kariega

    Brief Role Description

    To provide accurate bills of materials (BOMs) for series and pre-series parts to internal and external supply chain partners for the production of vehicles and/or components destined for in-house, local, and export customers. To manage the successful introduction of engineering changes in series and pre-series production. To identify, analyse, and report / communicate out of line bill of material situations and ensure commitment to corrective actions. To advance the management of part number variance in the plant to ensure optimal products to satisfy internal and external customers.

    Possible Tasks within this Role

    • Evaluating the impact of engineering changes on the BOMs and providing accurate input into the change management system.
    • Converting the Engineering Bill of Material (E/BOM) into a Production Bill of Material (P/BOM)
    • Determining timing for the introduction of engineering changes at VWSA by considering the lead plant timing, related changes, supplier (local and foreign) lead times, inventory levels, vehicle definitions and customer requirements
    • Securing continued supply of imported material for production of vehicles and components by coordinating the “Neuteile” (New Components) request process. 
    • Intervening in the P/BOM to prevent line stoppages through the implementation of temporary changes (deviations) to correct errors in usage, PR number, color, and trim combinations as well as effective period. 
    • Ensure correct documentation is put in place for the permanent correction of temporary intervention.
    • Providing accurate BOMs to JIT-, JIS and kit suppliers on a continuous basis (as the vehicle passes through the production process) for the production of sub-assemblies.
    • Investigating ad-hoc data queries related to the P/BOM to ensure the accuracy of the BOM so that parts are delivered timeously to the relevant Production areas.

    Qualification requirements

    ND/Degree in Mechanical/ Industrial /Electrical Engineering or Production Management/ Supply Chain Management /Logistics/ Information Technology/ Data Science

    Experience needed

    • At least 3 years’ experience gained within the automotive industry in a Logistics environment.

    Essentials

    • Knowledge of the PEP process
    • Understanding of RPA (Robotic Process Automation)
    • Project Management Experience

    Brief Role Description

    To implement the Kassel K –VO-Q Quality Management Objectives in VWSA Group Parts, as well as optimizing and measuring them for conformance to the group quality standards, in order to meet the Distribution Centre delivery schedules, Dealer service levels.

    Temporary Warehouse Supervisor - Centurion

    Brief Role Description

    To supervise all Group Parts Warehouse Operations activities by planning/ controlling/ analysing/ coordinating and implementing outbound logistics processes.  Developing and optimizing outbound logistics and manpower resources, in order to meet the outbound KPI’s ensuring Dealer service levels and satisfaction.

    Possible Tasks within this Role

    • Responsible for adequate supply of all necessary material and equipment as well as to make sure that all equipment and machinery are regularly checked so as to minimise disruptions to production.
    • Monitor trends in sensitive, small bin, and rack area deficiencies, determine possible causes, develop, and introduce corrective action to reduce damages and incorrect supply.
    • Plan and monitor warehouse operations process of parts and accessories to ensure that the daily cut off times and targets are met.
    • Develop staff by the setting of work-related objectives, appraising performance and behavior and where necessary, initiating / providing specialist training so as to maximize the potential of individuals within the section to maintain high levels of productivity and motivation.
    • Arrange for and provide ongoing training for staff to ensure optimum utilization of manpower resources.
    • Consult and monitor security systems within the warehouse to guarantee security of materials.
    • Ensure that work areas are cleared and free of any debris and obstacles that would hinder carrying out work processes. This would be done by creating an awareness amongst all subordinates of all relevant Health and safety standards and ensuring strict adherence by them. A proper housekeeping procedure must be instilled and adhered to.
    • Assist in the generation of, Procedures and Work instructions through liaison with other interfacing departments and providing the necessary training.
    • Ensure strict adherence to Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental standards, and procedures by members of staff.
    • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a climate conducive to industrial stability and peace.
    • Participate in departmental budget meetings.
