Person Specification

• Minimum qualification of N6 diploma, S4 or BTech in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in a metals manufacturing industry: furnaces, hot and cold rolling and or other heavy engineering industries.
• The ideal candidate would have done programming and fault finding on Siemens PLC’s (Siemens S5, S7, or 1500, TIA portal),
• The ideal candidate must have fault finding and programming / commissioning experience on AC and DC variable speed Drives (ABB / Siemens / Nidec)
• The ideal candidate would also be able to do programming and fault finding on SCADA Systems (Intouch &WinCC). 
• Experience on Electrical distribution i.e. motor testing and electrical fault finding (525V)
• Sound knowledge of process instrumentation and PID control loops
• Knowledge of annealing furnaces and related ancillary equipment will be advantageous
• Ability to work under pressure and meet work deadlines with attention to detail

• Provide first line maintenance support to ensure 24 hours coverage in order to enhance plant availability, product quality and cost
• Perform combination of Electrical and Instrumentation tasks
• Provide a service to production to minimize delay times and solve reoccurring delay’s
• Perform standard and shutdown schedules and tasks
• Test spares that have been repaired
• Maintain store items (spares) and identify and manage LRU’s
• Work in close relation with other Instrumentation Techs, Electricians and Millwrights.
• Standby duties are required
• Implementing optimization and new capital projects.Perform combination of Electrical and Instrumentation tasks
• Provide a service to production to minimize delay times and solve reoccurring delay’s

Description

• The Shift Millwright is responsible to provide maintenance support to Production, Electrical/C&I and maintenance teams in the relevant areas.  The Shift Millwright is the first line of defence.  Breakdowns and inspections are performed on a 24 hrs basis to ensure maximum plant availability and efficiency.

• Motivated self-starter with the ability to think analytically
• Demonstrate strong problem solving skills, leadership ability and high tolerance for pressure
• Maintain standards in the plant and adhere to all safety rules and procedures
• Physically fit, not afraid of heights or confined spaces
• Flexible and willing to work overtime when required
• Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license

Requirements

Skills required

• Mathematics and Science N3
• Must have a relevant trade test as a Millwright
• 3-5 years of plant experience as a qualified millwright.
• Experience in a heavy industry will be beneficial.
• Must have sound knowledge of planned maintenance principles
• Knowledge of maintenance & repairs on pumps, hydraulic, pneumatic and grease systems
• Knowledge of chain drives, drive shafts, fans, gearboxes and conveyor belt systems
• Knowledge required of maintenance on electrical motors as well as overhead cranes. 
• Suitable candidate must be Computer literate

THE POSITION/JOB:

• Operating the following machines: Milling – Horizontal & Vertical, Conventional centre lathe turning, Boring mill, Surface grinding, Slotting and Drilling
• Calibration and quality assurance
• General safety and housekeeping.
• Scheduled inspections on CMMS generated tasks
• Stock take, labelling, sorting and ordering
• Occasional in-plant measuring where it is not feasible to get an assembly into the workshop

Requirements

THE PERSON MUST:

• Be a qualified Fitter & Turner with a relevant N3 or Technical Matric.
• Have experience on all basic machine tools
• Previous conventional turning and ability to work on a variety of machines such as Boring Mill, Conventional Mills and Lathes, Surface grinders and radial arm drill will be an added advantage.
• Have ability to understand Machine drawings & customer requirements
• Have knowledge of material types & ability to produce good tolerances and finishes on various material types and hardness’s
• Have the ability to prioritize and apply sound judgment when on standby
• Crane drivers license will be and added advantage
