    Medical Registrar

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner, HPCSA registration as an independent medical practitioner. Current HPCSA registration for 2024/2025. Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
    • ADVANTAGES: Prior work experience in an orthopaedic surgery environment and accomplishment of either primary or intermediate College of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) Orthopaedic Surgery exams.

    Duties :

    • The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties, participating in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research, participating in departmental audit activities, preparing, and writing of reports, liaison and communication services and community liaison.
    • Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, and community service doctors). Attendance of relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meetings, and completing MEDICO Legal Documents timeously (e.g., Death certificate).
    • Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (Norms and Standards). Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department. Willing to do commuted overtime rendering of after-hour (night, weekend and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients.
    • Registrars will inter alia be responsible for rendering of clinical services, assessments and treatment of patients, Registrars will be rotated through related departments at various hospitals, comprising hospitals served in their specific outreach programmes. Registrars will be appointed jointly between the Gauteng Provincial Government and the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS).

    Assistant Director: Clinical Technology

    Requirements :

    • B-tech degree in Clinical Technology, Cardiology. Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa [HPCSA] in Cardiology (proof of current registration to be provided).
    • A minimum of 5years appropriate experience after registration with the HPCSA as a qualified Clinical Technologist in Cardiology. Computer literacy. Good written and communication skills.
    • Professionalism and ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Appropriate clinical experience in Cardiology, good understanding and knowledge of public hospital operation system and relevant legislation.
    • Competency in all Cardiology procedures both invasive and non-invasive in both adult and Paediatric Cardiology. Mandatory supervision and performance of after-hours emergency services.

    Duties :

    • All duties to be performed within the ambit of the Department of Cardiology, its protocols and requirements. Perform specialized Cardiology diagnostic and investigative services within the Department of Cardiology and its protocols.
    • Report to and works closely with the HOD of the Department of Cardiology. Regular reporting and updates required.
    • Manage and supervise all clinical technology services in Cardiology. Stock management including cardiology equipment. Manage and facilitate training and supervision of cardiac clinical technology students and junior cardiac clinical technologists, together with the Department of Cardiology.
    • Relevant record keeping and administration. This is a very important part of this position.

    Assistant Director: Medical Natural Sciences

    Requirements :

    • Masters of Science (NQF level 9) as well as registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Reproductive Biology as a Medical Biological Scientist.
    • A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience after registration at the HPCSA, of which include 5 years appropriate Experience in a supervising capacity. Strong leadership and practical capabilities in assisted reproduction techniques, evidence-based technology developmental skills and continual development of scientific knowledge and applications.
    • Aptitude in problem solving and troubleshooting in assisted reproduction techniques, proficiency in service-delivery, experience with advance laboratory equipment and research related databases; Statistical validations, interpretations and applications of research based and quality control results. Experience in the HPCSA training program for medical biological scientist interns in Reproductive Biology.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills; accuracy and attention to detail; Good administration and organizing skills of daily laboratory operations; Ability to work under pressure, independently and self-motivated.

    Duties :

    • Assist in the development and implementation of the goals of the department. Work within a team and assist in the management of the Assisted Reproduction program. This entails service delivery, though the development, implementation and monitoring of guidelines for operational efficiency.
    • This also include risk (prevention-based activities) and total quality management. Short and Long-term planning to integrate resources with policies and required activities. Monitor laboratory systems, and process outcomes, to determine skills training standards of staff and interns.
    • Administrative functions including performance management of staff and students according to set policies and to monitor continuous education development of the team. Create an environment of continuous technology development, education and training, through the awareness of the most relevant tools and techniques.
    • Motivate and guide interns according to the HPCSA curriculum, guidelines and subject specific documentation. Initiate, supervise and support research projects and proposals for post-graduate studies.

    Medical Specialist Psychiatrist Grade 1/2/3 Academic Level Lecturer/Senior/Lecturer

    Requirements :

    • M MED (PSYCH) or FCPSYCH (SA) or equivalent. Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist. Psychiatrist is mandatory.
    • Relevant experience in general adult Psychiatry will be a requirement.
    • Scientific conference presentation and / or scientific article publication in an accredited journal is a requirement.

    Duties :

    • The post is a joint appointment specialist psychiatry post with Weskoppies Hospital/Gauteng and the School of Medicine Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria.
    • The main task of the post will be the management and treatment of general adult psychiatric patients, including the related administrative and medico-legal framework. Doing forensic psychiatric observations and testifying in a court of law will be also included, if needed.
    • Successful candidates will be expected to to be involved in training and teaching of undergraduate, postgraduate students, medical officers and other health care workers. Doing research and supervising research are part of the duties, also.
    • Duties will include general management and administration appropriate to the post, including involvement in hospital and university related committees.
    • An interest to further studies in psychiatry sub-specialties and/or relevant postgraduate/doctoral degree studies will be recommended. the incumbent is expected to become involved in outreach services as determined by the department of psychiatry.

    Registrar[Medical]

    Requirements :

    • MBChB or equivalent. A valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa [HPCSA] as an independent medical practitioner.

    Duties :

    • The many and diverse functions of this position encompass aspects of patient care, education, research (should participate in original basic or clinical research) and counsel during surgery emergencies. The service aspect includes ensuring correct surgical treatment of patients.

    Speech Therapist & Audiologist Grade 1

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows for required registration with HPCSA in Speech Therapy & Audiology.
    • Completion of Community Service and no experience required after registration with HPCSA. Independent practice registration with HPCSA for 2024/2025.

    Duties :

    • To render speech therapy and audiology services in the district that complies with the norms and standards as indicated by the Health department.
    • Provide community based Speech Therapy and Audiology services with the focus on health promotions, prevention and intervention. ECI screening and treatment.
    • Work in a multidisciplinary team within the healthcare facility. Hearing screening and diagnostic assessments. Hearing aid fittings and aural rehabilitation.
    • The candidate must have an understanding of quality assurance audit tools and ideal hospitalization assessment tools.

    Medical Registrar: Anaesthesiology

    Requirements :

    • MBCHB degree or equivalent qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as an Independent Medical Practitioner.
    • Current registration with HPCSA as independent medical practitioner.
    • Diploma in Anaesthesiology, FCA Part 1 and at least 6 months post DA experience in Anaesthesia will be added advantages.

    Medical Registrar: General Surgery

    Requirements :

    • MBChB degree or equivalent medical qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as a Independent Medical Practitioner.
    • Current registration as independent medical practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
    • Surgical rotation experience under consultant supervision during community service or post-community service, with laparoscopic experience or voluntary work in surgery will be added advantage.
    • Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are advantageous.
