    Senior Actuarial Specialist

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Completion and Review of the group SAM returns
    • Assist building stronger financial reporting standards across the Hollard Group
    • Find opportunities for capital relief and optimization across the Hollard Group
    • Completion of consolidated group internal reporting
    • For internal management reporting
    • For Board reports

    Other adhoc reporting requirements.

    • Completion of actuarial projects assigned for completion
    • Support for the Short term and Life corporate actuarial teams when needed.
    • Assistance running internal actuarial committees
    • Capital Committee
    • Life Liability Committee
    • Short Term Liability Committee
    • Running competitor analysis across the insurance industry

    Required experience:

    • A minimum of 3 years or relevant work experience
    • Preferably have prior Life or Short-Term Insurance valuation or capital experience
    • Preferably been exposed to coding of actuarial models including being familiar with Microsoft Excel/VBA, SQL and/or other open-source coding languages e.g. Python
    • Must have a successful track record of having worked on projects and adhoc tasks

    Business Solutions Analyst

    Role Responsibilities:

    • Interacting with all relevant stakeholders and conducting business process needs analysis to understand requirements with an objective of producing a concise business case.
    • Analyze and understand business requirements to identify changes and additions required to meet the business requirements.
    • Conduct impact analysis to identify and understand risk associated with an enhancement or project as well as input to risk mitigation strategies.
    • Make recommendations based on the interpretation of business requirements, ensure that all impacts have been carefully considered, analyzed and the resulting procedure and system configuration is the most appropriate and best meets the business need.
    • Be responsible for providing multi-disciplinary teams with user stories and coaching to define the business driven acceptance criteria and test cases. Proactively support the uplift of Agile practices and foster a culture of continual service improvement.
    • Communicate needed changes to development & testing team and ensure implementation thereof.
    • Estimate the financial or other benefits of changes to processes, risks and/or potential impact and report to the relevant stakeholders if relevant.
    • Participate in and facilitate relevant Agile ceremonies and rituals: Backlog Refinement, Daily Stand-up, Iteration / Release Planning, Showcases / Sprint Review, Retrospective.

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • Minimum 6 years’ working experience in IT business analysis – (3 years of which should be in the Short-Term insurance environment)

    Underwriter (Nelspruit)

    Key Responsibilities:

    Ensure adherence of referrals received in line with Underwriting Guidelines and Mandates and Regional Mandates procedures:

    • Act as the Gatekeeper for the Inland Region
    • Ensure that referrals received from the Sales & Underwriting team is presented as per requirements set out in  the Inland region guidebook, processes, and templates.
    • Ensure that all referrals not meeting the above criteria is sent back to the respective team for corrections 
      prior to reviewing.
    • Review all referrals received in accordance with Underwriting Mandates and Guidelines, Regional Guidelines 
      and requirements as set out by reinsurers.
    • Ensure that branch mandates and Individual mandates are being adhered to when reviewing referrals.
    • Ensure that all risks are sanitized before presenting referrals to our Comref division or RGM.
    • Providing technical underwriting expertise on underwriting referrals and queries received from the Sales and Underwriting teams.
    • Ensure that company is not overexposed by any risk based on referrals received and by managing exposure daily on the Regional Tracking Report and renewal reports.
    • Placing all reinsurance on Ekundu system and managing placements on the regional tracking reports
    •  Provide confirmation of reinsurance cover and ensure the correct documentation is processed within 30 days of inception/mta/renewal
    • Reviewing Book Takeover and ensuring all referrals are addressed, and FAC placed where required within the deadlines provided.
    • Ensure that risk requirements/risk management practices are met on referrals received.
    • Review survey report to determine the correct occupation of risks.
    • Ensure that all Motor Fleet, Vehicle Burners, Accommodation/Decline risks are continuously monitored and referred.
    • Provide support in terms of technical guidance to Underwriting, Sales, and management team support.
    • Being innovative by finding new ways to improve the technical team functionality 
      and input to elevate current processes.
    • Be investigative and keep abreast of new products and developments in the short 
      terms insurance industry.
    • Foster and encourage team players within the team 

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • Underwriting knowledge and 5 years commercial underwriting experience.

    Technical Underwriter

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Underwriting: Analyse qualitative and quantitative data prepared by the underwriting team to provide quality assurance, ensuring capacity by utilizing the rating tool, placing RI, loss ratio analysis, and applying for surveys and review thereof. Decline undesirable risks.
    • Renewals: Support Renewal Team & Broker Consultants to meet goals for volume and value of quality new business quoted and written within company guidelines, by managing large renewals as mandated by Team Leader: Technical underwriting & Underwriting.
    • Processing: Ad-hoc audit and monitoring of underwriting processing in accordance with company guidelines and all transactions assigned by the Team Leader: Technical Underwriting & Underwriting
    • Complete transactions within delegated authority limits and within set standards/guidelines and service level agreements.
    • Quality assessment: Assessment of all high risk policy schedules. Assessment of all broker issued policies and the management of said brokers in terms of non-compliance. Assist with head office referrals. Ensure that undesirable risks are declined.
    • Underwriting audits: Assist with the co-ordination of all underwriting audits, both internal and external through scheduling, follow up of audit requirements and document management/record keeping.
    • Quality control: Quality standards to be adhered to at all times. Tracking of rework through keeping an up to date register of all rework, in order to determine training needs within the underwriting team
    • Customer service: To ensure that customer service standards are maintained in accordance with service level agreements and to assist with technical advice and other assistance over and above the normal underwriting duties.
    • Diary: Daily diary files to be extracted and dealt with, Manage central Technical Underwriting mailbox and ensure that all referrals are addressed within the SLA.
    • Recordkeeping (registers, documents, e-mails etc) to be kept up to date at all times. Ensure that all record keeping in maintained on the Technical Underwriting Drive
    • Effective and timeous communication: Communicate effectively with external parties as well as underwriting team and other departments and respond to queries within 48 hours.
    • General: When required perform any other duties necessary for the operational effectiveness of the company that is within your ability and scope.

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • Sound understanding of commercial and industrial (C & I), and personal lines short term insurance  with at least 5 years’ experience

    Senior Project Manager

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Understand the scope of what needs to be delivered and translate these into project plans and schedules
    • Conduct/Facilitate Project Planning sessions with project teams
    • Develop Project Management Plans, Charters, Progress & Status Reports
    • Manage and control the Project Risk and Issue Register
    • Plan and control project schedules (plans) in line with timelines and target dates.
    • Control project quality during and beyond project delivery and execution
    • Manage, lead, allocate and control project teams and their deliverables (including external delivery partners)
