• Administration of health, safety, and environmental programs.
• Implement programs, safety Induction, technical guidance and maintain appropriate level of awareness to identify and remove hazards and potential risk from the operations’ sites.
• Conduct safety & health training programs for all plant employees and supervisors. Cascade a culture that prioritizes effective HSE and reduces overall associated risks and costs.
• Provide regular written reports, as well as other HSE related results and updates to the management team.
• Investigate & report accidents and take action to eliminate accident causes.
• Conduct inspections to identify unhealthy, or unsafe acts, conditions, or application of work practices, and prepare written reports of inspections with action plan for closure.
• Review & develop the risk assessment for all specific jobs inside the plant for routine and non-routine jobs and ensure the implementation of the risk controls.
• Follow-up contractors’ contracts conditions to ensure that the safety issues are clearly mentioned i.e. (safety elements, supervision, and awareness) and that jobs include the risk assessment and controls.
• Follow-up the control of wastes, emissions, hazards, and other aspects in accordance with legal and other requirements and ensure the implementation of the corrective actions and report the non-conformities to management.
• Maintain and ensure the implementation and effectiveness of the environmental management system ISO 14001, and take the necessary actions to keep the system running effectively.

WHAT YOU WILL ENJOY DOING

• Responsible for training the plastics processing apprentices
• Plan and develop training calendar including on-the-job-training
• Develop and review training material and documents
• Plan, develop and implement lesson plans
• Coordinate and conduct facilitation for apprentices
• Prepare classrooms and workshop for training
• Provide training on key practical and personal skills
• Give theory lessons in plastic processing, material science, etc.
• Plan and prepare apprentices for assessments as required
• Monthly reporting on programme progress, competency evaluations and feedback
• Ensure all safety aspects are adhered to
• Responsible for the availability and maintenance of all machines and equipment
• Manage and monitor Apprentices logbook
• Maintain regular communication with the Plant

WHAT MAKES YOU GREAT

• Completed plastic processing apprenticeship program and 3 or more years of work experience in related field
• Experience in Extrusion Blow Moulding or Injection Moulding
• Trade qualification with related knowledge and practical experience in the Plastics Manufacturing Industry.
• Minimum 2-5 years' work experience
• Understanding of MerSETA and QCTO processes
• Trainer and assessor experience will be an added advantage.
• Highly motivated to work with young people
• Strong interpersonal skills and proven track of leading people
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills

WHAT YOU WILL ENJOY DOING

• Conducts measurements and tests to report visual attributes per internally specified requirements
• Conducting start-up approval and ensure first off samples are available and neatly stored
• Ensure line clearance is conducted after and before starting up.
• Ensure any non-conformances are communicated to all relevant parties.
• Adhere to planned testing schedule and conduct spot checks (in process inspection)
• Ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping and adhere to workstation cleaning schedule
• Ensure a proper hand-over is done on the next shift
• Complete relevant paperwork and documents correctly to allow accurate data capturing system
• Adhere to company policies and procedures
• Ensure articles on hold are reported and recorded on the hold register, this includes customer returned stock.
• Ensure reworking process is monitored and articles are verified before release into finished goods.
• Ensures master sample in on the line for production line at each start up

• Responsible to report any risks identified for Quality and Food Safety Management where food contact product is produced in the plant.

WHAT YOU WILL ENJOY DOING

• Ensure all assigned machines are operating safely, efficiently and reliably, according to recommended operating guidelines
• Ensure quality product is being produced at all times
• Ensure process is optimized to the fullest extent
• Ensure all raw materials required are available and defect free before being put into machine
• Monitor and report inconsistencies in above areas for all shifts not worked
• Should be able to make minor repairs to moulders
• Assist the Production Manager in implementing required training for Machine Operators
• Supervise orderliness, cleanliness and working order of the assigned machines and tools

WHAT MAKES YOU GREAT

• Technical qualification and good experience in plastic processing
• Matric/ grade 12
• Experienced in Extrusion Blow Moulding and/or either Toolmaking, mechanic or electric/electronic systems
• Able to work in a team environment
• Able to train technical personnel 
• Effectively manages time as a resource; gives balanced attention to appropriate long-term and short-term priorities
• Must have flexible work availability
• Able to prioritize, plan and execute duties with minimal supervision 
• Excellent communication skills in local language and English
