    Tax Consultant (Transfer Pricing)

    An opportunity exists in the Tax Advisory Division of Mazars; an international professional services firm, based at Mazars House in Century City, Cape Town.

    Purposes of the job:

    • To independently attend to and lead transfer pricing assignments, carry out research relating to a variety of tax and other related issues (covering the full spectrum of transfer pricing) and to compile appropriate reports/opinions/letters and other documents.  To review reports/opinions/letters and documents prepared by other tax advisors/clients and to liaise with clients, their advisors and SARS where appropriate.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Research
    • Drafting of comprehensive transfer pricing documentation including, conducting functional analysis interviews; attending to economic analysis and industry analysis Consulting and tax advice, including transfer pricing reviews and planning
    • Tax administration and dispute resolution
    • Budget management in respect of client engagements
    • Manage risk management procedures
    • Manage individual/business unit work performance
    • Articles and other client communication material
    • Training & development
    • Assist with department budgets
    • Recommend billing amounts and timings
    • Role model the organisational culture and instil culture in others
    • Mentoring and coaching
    • Maintain client relationships
    • Grow client portfolio
    • Identify cross-selling opportunities

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Accounting/Legal/Economics degree plus post graduate tax qualification
    • Minimum of 1-2 years’ specific tax consulting experience as a client- facing Tax Consultant in a professional services environment
    • Minimum of 1-2 years’ transfer pricing experience is essential
    • Sound knowledge of OECD transfer pricing guidelines as well as South African transfer pricing regulations and guidance
    • Excellent computer skills (MS Office package)
    • Familiarity with relevant software to perform comparable searches
    • Excellent writing and reporting skills
    • Ability to analyse and interpret data and situations
    • Ability to gather information and solve problems
    • Ability to work independently and as part of the team
    • Excellent relating and networking skills
    • Ability to plan and organise activities
    • Ability to apply professional / specialist / technical expertise

    Internal Audit Manager

    Mazars Advisory is currently recruiting for a Manager in Internal Audit to join their dynamic, fast-growing team. The successful candidate should have the necessary internal audit skills, knowledge, and experience.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Work effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress.
    • Assign and manage tasks with other team members considering engagement needs and identified business outcomes and organize own work such that important items get done first.
    • Build strong internal relationships within the service line and with other services across the organization.
    • Manage internal and external relationships at an engagement level.
    • Research the client with the objective of developing a detailed understanding of the environment in which they operate.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage critical project outcomes, work products, barriers to success, and changes in expectations or scope.
    • Identifying risks and controls within business processes under review.
    • Drafting detailed audit programmes for tests of attributes, controls and details, as appropriate.
    • Identify opportunities for data analytic procedures.
    • Compilation of working papers substantiating scope and results of testing.
    • Reviewing working papers of junior team members.
    • Provide a coaching / mentoring role and review sections prepared by junior staff.
    • Display a logical thought process in understanding client challenges and exploring possible solutions.
    • Identify and escalate potential risks and issues to project manager along with suggested preventive or mitigating actions.
    • Manage the delivery of each assignment in line with scope and limitations;
    • Support the business in championing strategic business roles;
    • Manage a portfolio of clients; and
    • Build and maintain client relationships.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Previous Audit firm experience necessary;
    • CIA advantageous, or at the least, registration for completion of CIA;
    • Membership with IIA;
    • BCom with honours in Internal Audit / Accounting / Audit from an esteemed university;
    • 6 years’ experience in a consulting role in governance, risk, and compliance, of which 2 years’ must be in a managerial role;
    • A thorough knowledge of IIA standards and best practices;
    • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills;
    • Proven ability to manage clients, teams and other relevant stakeholders;
    • Knowledge of internal audit software tools and methodologies;
    • Good client relations and networking skills;
    • Willingness to travel when necessary; and
    • Valid drivers’ licence and own transport.

    Senior Consultant - Business Sustainability

    An opportunity exists in the Business Sustainability Division of Forvis Mazars; an international professional services firm, based at Forvis Mazars House in beautiful Century City, Cape Town. Purpose: You will be a part of a dynamic team who provides comprehensive sustainability solutions and services which inspire and enable our customers to create value from sustainability-related activities. Your main purpose will be to consult to clients on the sustainability strategy regarding their business optimization, social equity, and environmental analysis.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Develop, manage, and execute sustainability reporting processes in compliance with international and local standards & frameworks.
    • Report compilation for clients.
    • Coordinate data collection from various departments and ensure the integrity and accuracy of the data reported.
    • Monitor and report on key sustainability metrics and performance indicators.
    • Conduct materiality assessments to identify and prioritise the most significant environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues for the company.
    • Engage with stakeholders, including customers, employees, investors, and regulators, to gather input on material sustainability topics.
    • Oversee and training of junior consultants.
    • Business development, track of portal, proposal compilations and complete internal quality processes.
    • Client product design from strategy to gaps analysis then solution design.
    • Climate change client maturity journey, from measurement to decarbonisation pathways.

    Minimum Requirements    
    Educational / Professional Qualifications

    • Relevant post-graduate qualification essential (sustainable development, business, finance or accounting)
    • Strong understanding of international and local sustainability reporting standards and frameworks and developing landscape.
    • Working knowledge of the GRI Standards, IFRS S1 and S2, CSRD an added advantage.
    • A minimum of 3 years’ client facing professional services experience within the sustainability field.
    • Proven experience in carbon footprint assessment and decarbonisation strategy development and implementation
    • Commercially focused and adept in applying your sustainability knowledge to differing client situations
    • Business development is essential
    • Strong business writing and presentation skills.
