    Principal Technician (North West)

    MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION

    • Effective & efficient support of technology, operations and resources to design, install, sustain and provide administration of broadcast systems/ facilities, equipment, servers and networks in order to ensure optimum, functional, secure and available facilities/ equipment for SABC Technology.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF STRATEGY

    • Contribute and provide (technical) submissions to Divisional Strategy in alignment with the Corporate Plan and the Target Operating Model.
    • Contribute to the business strategical requirement to develop the Opex and Capex investments.
    • Interpretation of tactical needs to enhance and promote technology infrastructures and customer user requirements and specifications.
    • Investigate and interpret business requirements in accordance to functional requirements workflows and international best practices.

    MANAGED PROJECT

    • Capex and Opex involvement to input into the project scope development.
    • Provide in Capex Project with designs, risks, migration requirements, project implementations plans, integration system implementations, commissioning and workflows to deliver on functional requirements and avoid on-air disruptions.
    • Design innovative solutions and plan of in-area system projects with implementation and monitoring to their completion on-time and within constraints.

    • Quarterly review and update of all technical documentation.
    • Design, update and monitor workflow drawing and technical drawing accrue.
    • Daily shift and monthly reporting of faults, tasks, risks, red flag escalations and status progress of deliverables.
    • Design and assist (when required) with rigging of facilities, ensuring the efficient and effective functionality and subsequently dismantling of the complete infrastructure without existing facility disruptions (For OB facilities safe return to the SABC base).
    • Support (when required) all Outside Broadcast infrastructure in order to operate and adhere to technical, operational and safety specifications, maximising the utilisation of facilities and resources for successful recording, production and broadcast.

    ENGINEERING

    • Driving of all preliminary research activities on the best practises, cutting edge technologically advancements and enhancements to improve facility efficiency, effectivity and sustainability.
    • Designing fit-for-purpose innovative solutions in consultation with digital partners to create resolutions.

    GOVERNANCE AND OPERATIONAL COMPLIANCE

    • Procurement of correct digital solution in line with customer requirements & Company Procurement policy & procedures.
    • Escalate Risk findings reported with corrective treatment plans.
    • Monitor adherence to OHS and compliance with SABC Company Policies & Procedures.
    • Maintain discipline in accordance with company policies & procedure

    QUALIFICATIONS

      EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 7 years’ experience in technical broadcast environment, of the 7 years a minimum of 3 years as Senior Technician level in technical maintenance, system support of broadcasting equipment and client services within a Broadcast Environment.

    Principal Technical Operator: Eastern Cape

    MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION

    Product Specialist Video Entertainment X 2

    JOB PURPOSE

    • To grow sustainable SABC revenue and market share through the sale of video entertainment related advertising, sponsorship and associated products, services and solutions across its portfolio of linear and digital platforms (S1, S2,S3 & SABC Plus). This will be achieved through leading, in a disciplined, professional and performance-focused manner, a high-performing Video Entertainment sponsorship sales team with focused responsibility for building commercial relationships and exploiting opportunities to meet SABC content sponsorship revenue needs and requirements.

    MAIN OBJECTIVES (KEY PERFORMANCE AREA)

    INCREASE SALES REVENUE & MARKET SHARE

    • Develop a comprehensive sponsorship strategy and plan with the Senior Product Specialist and the Head of Sales, in alignment with the allocated TV Channel, to achieve revenue targets and grow market share with video entertainment segment of the broadcast media marketplace.
    • Match brands marketing goals with the Video Entertainment program’s audience, negotiating terms like cost, placement frequency, and creative control.
    • Collaborate with advertisers, media planners, and channel executives to create tailored sponsorship deals that maximize visibility and impact for sponsors while generating revenue for the channel or production.
    • Drive sales in professional, disciplined, structured and focused manner to achieve and exceed set sales targets within the video entertainment segment of the broadcast media marketplace.
    • Understand the needs, expectations and requirements of clients in the Video Entertainment segment to develop differentiated solutions based on the SABC’s portfolio of scripted and unscripted content across, linear and digital media assets.
    • Collaboratively develop and propose to clients appropriate, relevant and innovative media solutions leveraging a mix of Video Entertainment channels and platforms to meet budget requirements, optimize campaign performance and enhance revenue opportunities.
    • Work collaboratively with the Creative Solutions Team to ensure that sales team's proposals and presentations are of high quality, offering insightful solutions and providing measurable outcomes.

    INTELLIGENCE, REVENUE AND COST MANAGEMENT

    • Debrief Salespeople on a regular basis to collect relevant market and sales intelligence.
    • Gather and make sense of ‘on the ground’ Market & Client intelligence to better understand market dynamics and evolving client needs & expectations
    • Provide regular reports on the ground’ intelligence obtained to inform the work of the Intelligence & Analytics Team.
    • Provide input into pricing and packaging of sponsorships and make decisions based on market experience and realities

    INHERENT REQUIREMENT

    FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A relevant tertiary qualification (degree or diploma) at NQF Level 6 or above; and/or
    • Additional accredited courses or certifications in Media, Digital Marketing, Sponsorship Sales, or other related fields at a minimum of NQF Level 5.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 5-8 years’ relevant front-line sales specialist / sales management / account management experience within the Media | Marketing | Advertising environment, for NQF Level 6+ qualifications. 
    • Minimum of 6 years’ relevant front-line sponsorship sales specialist / sponsorship management / brand management experience within the Media | Marketing | Advertising environment, for NQF Level 5 qualification

    KNOWLEDGE:

    • Proven track record in high-volume media sales environments (TV, digital, sponsorships).
    • Deep understanding of segmentation strategies, client acquisition, and key account growth.
    • Commercial acumen and data fluency—able to interpret insights into actions.

    Knowledge and experience in Sales Strategies that combine:

    • Presentation skills: Proven track record in presenting end-to-end media solutions

    Project Manager X2

    PURPOSE

    • To manage the evaluation, planning and execution of all technology capital projects within scope, budget and time constraints and in accordance with agreed quality standards, in order to deliver on project requirements.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

    • Complete project deliverables in accordance with time, budget, quality, client and industry specifications
    • Provide effective and efficient project management from conceptualization to post implementation
    • Develop detailed project plans, ensuring comprehensive coverage and specification of time deliverables and costs
    • Appoint competent team members, clarify roles /responsibility and direct, manage, motivate and develop teams
    • Proper viability assessment of projects against feasibility criteria and proactive communication of risks
    • Ensure development and implementation of plans and contracts in accordance with engineering professional standards and SABC policy
    • Continually monitor project deliverables against set project plan and in time corrections to get project back on track
    • Facilitate the commissioning of the technical testing of facilities and systems and obtain signed certificate of acceptance
    • Manage execution on the delivery lifecycle of the projects (Plan, Execute, Design, Test, Implementation and Training)
    • Continual reporting to steering committee in respect of project progress against plans and resolution of problems
    • Provide monthly status and financial reports to clients and management
    • Develop a detailed project budget for an approved business case completed by the client
    • Assist client with develop a detailed budget for a new project business case
    • Ensure expenditure stays in line with approved budget
    • Realistic and complete estimations into Capital budget in line with economic indicators
    • Provide the accurate costing of equipment and labour necessary to construct the facilities required by clients
    • In time/ proactive action in case of insufficient budget e.g. red flag deviations to client and sponsor.
    • Maintain and manage the project management program (e.g. SAP), to ensure accurate financial management information.
    • Ensure accurate administration and reporting of financial and project plans
    • Compile accurate budget projections and administrate and report on a monthly basis.
    • Ensure budget items are loaded against correct account numbers.
    • Usage of all appropriate document templates in compliance with project roadmap

    GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE

    • Ensure project and program risks and issues are timeously identified and mitigations and corrective measurements implemented
    • Ensure that Forex procedure is followed when required
    • On-going monitoring of purchase process in SAP
    • Accurate correction’s to PR's and PO’s, when required, e.g. deleting items or adding VO’s
    • Accurate procedure and approval of invoices for payment
    • Ensure proactive identification and communication of potential risks in accordance with the SABC risk management framework
    • Ensure adherence to safety and health regulations

     STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT

    • Build and maintain positive relationships with all departmental, business unit, divisional and external stakeholders through frequent communication and feedback sessions
    • Meet with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services.
    • Ensure compliance of Service Provider (Vendor) with SLA
    • Negotiate competitive tariff rates with Vendors and Customers
    • Accurately define key performance indicators with Vendors/ Customers
    • Periodic SLA review meetings in order to establish / maintain relationships and improve delivery
    • SLA’s to be in line with all SABC Policy and rules
    • Treat customers/stakeholders in a professional and friendly manner

     LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

    • Direct, manage and motivate project teams and resources in order to meet project requirements
    • Identify and motivate training needs
    • Mentor Junior Project Managers
    • Manage and utilize resources across projects
    • Managing a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities

     INHERENT/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

     QUALIFICATIONS

    • Relevant 3-year Degree/Diploma or NQF level 6 project management qualification recognized/accredited by the Project Management Institute or in Engineering or IT
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) 
    • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) will be an advantage

    EXPERIENCE

    • 5 years’ experience in implementing CAPEX projects using PMBOK/Prince II/AGILE project methodologies. Proficiency with using Project Management and scheduling Tools including Microsoft Projects.

     KNOWLEDGE

    • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Project Management
    • Draft and processing of Business Case (Capital Expenditure Approval Request) for approval in accordance with SABC approval processes
    • Submission of technical proposal/ report with recommendations to Management
    • Advanced knowledge & understanding of broadcast standards
    • Advanced knowledge & understanding of core SABC business
    • Excellent understanding of broadcasting operational procedures
    • Assessing of viability of a project against feasibility criteria
    • Knowledge & understanding of all relevant Company Policies & Procedures e.g. Finance, HR, Procurement, Risk, etc
    • Knowledge and understanding of safety and health regulations
    • Performing Project Administration
    • Good understanding of contracts and contract administration
    • Sourcing, acquisition and evaluation of quotations, tenders and RFQ's
    • Knowledge & understanding of applicable SAP modules
    • Maintaining Customer / Stakeholders Relations
    • Knowledge & understanding of flow diagrams, read drawings and layouts
    • Broad knowledge of electrical, mechanical, acoustics, ergonomics and aesthetic concepts
