    Associate (Lead Engineer) | Water Resources Management - (ENG-L8.55)

    Role Responsibilities

    Based on your diverse professional experience and technical knowledge your responsibilities will a combination of the following across various geographies:

    • Integrated water resources planning and management.
    • Prefeasibility/feasibility studies.
    • Master planning.
    • Hydrological analysis.
    • Water resources modelling.
    • Systems analysis.

    Minimum Requirements

    • BSc Eng/BEng in a relevant civil engineering discipline complimented by a relevant postgraduate qualification.
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
    • At least 10 years postgraduate experience in civil engineering.
    • Comprehensive project management, quality assurance and project governance experience.
    • Effective planning and time management skills.
    • Ability to lead, mentor and manage people and have strong inter-personal and networking skills.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Ability to work under pressure and consistently deliver work of outstanding quality.

    Senior Civil Engineer/Technologist /Bulk Water Conveyance - (ENG-L6.134)

    Role Responsibilities 

    • Project Management of bulk water conveyance related projects
    • Perform complex engineering designs, calculations, and analysis of bulk water pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure across the full lifecycle of the project, i.e., planning, design and implementation which includes construction and completion. 
    • Conduct hydraulic modeling and simulations using industry accepted tools such EPANET, InfoWater, or WaterGEMS. 
    • Co-ordinate and integrate the design with other engineering disciplines (i.e., structural, fire, mechanical and electrical), development of 3D models, technical drawings and details, technical specifications and associated quantities.
    • Produce other key deliverables on projects such as technical and project related reports, specifications and procurement documentation. 
    • Administration of construction contracts as Contracts Engineer\Employer’s Agent Representative \ Principal Agent including associated site supervision and administrative responsibilities, and dealing with construction queries.
    • Be a team player that is willing to collaborate across multiple disciplines and across multiple geographies in Africa and internationally. 
    • Ensure that all work complies with Zutari’s quality control procedures and ensuring that required quality standards are maintained.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Registered as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA or evidence of submission (proof of submission required).  
    • A minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience on civil engineering projects, with an emphasis on bulk conveyance. Experience should entail working on projects across their full lifecycle, i.e., planning through to the end of construction. 
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite products. Knowledge in MS Projects will be advantageous. 
    • Project Management and construction related experience in civil engineering projects. 
    • Construction related experience in bulk conveyance projects will be an advantage. 
    • Sound knowledge and expertise in GCC and FIDIC general conditions of contract. Knowledge of other construction contracts in the field of engineering will be advantageous. 
    • Sound knowledge or expertise in 3D engineering design software applicable to the envisaged role (especially Autodesk suite) will be an advantage.

    Energy Systems Modellers - (DM-L7.8)

    The successful candidate(s) will be contributing to the following areas:

    • Assist and lead studies such as capacity expansion planning (integrated resource planning), renewable energy and storage optimisation, and integrated energy planning,
    • Support and lead energy market analysis and operational planning,
    • Apply energy modelling tools (e.g., PLEXOS, PyPSA) in real-world projects and take ownership of Zutari models. We currently use PLEXOS,
    • Engage with Power Generation and Digital Advisory Groups to ensure modelling capabilities are leading the market. Assist Zutari to continue to digitize its business,
    • Compile technical reports, simulations, and calculations,
    • Participating in internal and client-facing meetings to present findings and ongoing client engagement, and
    • Contributing to project scoping, data collection, and research on emerging energy projects.

    Minimum Requirements 

    We’re looking for candidates who bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and a solid academic foundation:

    • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering (or closely related field). A post-graduate degree in said fields is advantageous,
    • Strong interest in energy systems, modelling, and market analysis,
    • Familiarity with energy modelling platforms (even through coursework or internships) is a plus, A must at senior level,
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills,

    Design & Construction BIM Coordinator - (BIM-L7.4)

    Role responsibilities

    • Maintain and manage the federated BIM model environment, including shared coordinates, grids, levels, and referencing standards.
    • Run regular clash detection and coordination reviews across all disciplines.
    • Produce and track coordination issues and clash reports, ensuring timely and verified closure.
    • Escalate unresolved or high-risk interface issues with clear impact summaries.
    • Support design reviews, construction coordination, and site-based interface resolution.
    • Align model coordination and information releases with the project programme and milestones.
    • Prepare coordination views, extracts, and materials for design, construction, and stakeholder meetings.
    • Ensure compliance with project BIM standards, CDE processes, and information governance requirements.

    Minimum requirements

    • Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in BIM coordination on multi-discipline design and/or construction projects.
    • Proven experience managing federated models and clash detection workflows.
    • Proficiency in BIM coordination tools (e.g. Navisworks Manage, ACC Model Coordination, Solibri, or similar).
    • Working knowledge of discipline authoring tools (e.g. Revit, Civil 3D, Tekla).
    • Understanding of BIM coordination principles, shared coordinates, LOD/LOI, IFC, and issue tracking (BCF).
    • Strong coordination, follow-up, and issue management skills.

    CDE & Standards Manager - (BIM-L7.5)

    Role responsibilities

    CDE Configuration & Administration

    • Configure and administer Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) as the primary CDE and oversee the aligned interface/integration with other CDEs.

    Establish and maintain:

    • Role‑based access, permissions, and access groups (organisation, package, discipline, functional role).
    • Folder structures and information container hierarchies aligned to the BEP, work breakdown structure (WBS), and package strategy.
    • Review, approval, and transmittal workflows, including defined SLAs and escalation paths.
    • Metadata schemas, including required fields, validation rules, status/suitability codes, and classification fields where applicable.
    • Manage user onboarding and offboarding, routine permission reviews, and coordination with IT, Information Security, and Document Control teams.

    Standards Implementation (Naming, Coding, Revision Control)

    • Implement and enforce the project’s information naming, coding, and revision standards as defined in the BEP.

    Ensure consistent application of:

    • Information container naming rules for models, drawings, documents, schedules, and registers.
    • Revision and supersedence conventions.
    • Status, suitability, and “issued‑for” purpose controls (review, approval, construction, as‑built).
    • Maintain controlled templates, guidance notes, and “golden example” files within the CDE.
    • Enforce standards through system rules wherever possible (mandatory metadata fields, workflow gates, and validation checks).

    Issuance Governance & Auditability

    Ensure all formal information issuances (design, procurement, construction, as‑built) are executed through the CDE with:

    • Correct statuses, approvals, and supporting evidence.
    • Clear “issued for” purpose and traceable distribution lists.
    • Complete audit trails and immutable records where required.
    • Coordinate with discipline leads and document control to ensure issuance packs are complete, correctly structured, and properly archived.

    Monitoring, Compliance Checks & CDE Housekeeping

    • Monitor overall CDE health and usage, identifying adoption issues, non‑compliant submissions, late approvals, or process failures.

    Conduct regular compliance checks, including:

    • Naming, coding, and revision compliance against the BEP.
    • Mandatory metadata completeness.
    • Correct use of workflows and approvals.
    • Permissions integrity and segregation by package or party.

    Carry out ongoing CDE housekeeping:

    • Archiving and clean‑up aligned to WIP / Shared / Published / Archive states.
    • Identification and control of redundant or duplicate content.
    • Scheduled permission reviews and access attestations.
    • Maintain an exceptions log and drive corrective actions through to closure.

    Reporting & Dashboards

    Support the production of CDE‑based reports and dashboards in collaboration with the Information / Reporting Analyst, including:

    • Submission and approval cycle times.
    • Rejection and return rates.
    • Compliance trends (naming, metadata, workflow adherence).
    • Information volumes and throughput by package, discipline, or supplier.
    • Provide data definitions and ensure consistency of master data (package IDs, discipline codes, status codes).

    Stakeholder Enablement & Support

    • Deliver CDE inductions and “how we issue information” clinics for designers, contractors, and suppliers.
    • Act as first‑line support for CDE process issues and coordinate escalation of technical platform issues to vendors or internal IT.
    • Chair or support information management and CDE working sessions to resolve recurring compliance, process, or adoption issues.

    Minimum requirements

    Essential

    • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Information Management, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Formal training in BIM information management and CDE administration (platform or vendor training acceptable).
    • 5+ years’ experience in CDE, document management, or information governance on built‑environment projects.
    • At least 2+ years in a lead role configuring and enforcing CDE standards.
    • Proven hands‑on experience administering Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
    • Experience working in multi‑system CDE environments
    • Demonstrated experience supporting controlled information issuances across design, procurement, construction, and as‑built stages.
    • Working knowledge of ISO‑aligned information management concepts as applied in practice (not theory‑heavy).
    • Strong governance mindset with the confidence to enforce standards across multiple organisations.
    • High attention to detail and comfort working with structured information and rules.
    • Clear communicator able to translate standards into practical, usable guidance.
    • Proactive problem‑solver who identifies risks early and drives corrective action.
