    Procurement Manager

    Summary:

    • John Crane is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager who will manage the purchasing team based in South Africa and support the strategic objectives of purchasing: sourcing for the SSA region from approved suppliers, negotiate cost savings, improving quality, delivery performance and John Crane South Africa’s preferential procurement score under the Supplier Development and Localization B-BBEE Scorecard.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage the team of centralized commodity buyers based in South Africa
    • Monitoring supplier performance and follow the Global sourcing rules
    • Develop and maintain a regional procedure to manage and track indirect costs
    • Define and implement a supplier development process including classification of vendors with onwards performance measurement
    • Support MEA procurement standardization initiatives
    • Update and maintain the purchasing procedure following best practice
    • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers
    • Oversee the inbound processes to ensure adherence.
    • Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
    • Control Indirect and Direct costs and achieve savings as per annual targets
    • Develop the purchasing team skills with a clear succession plan
    • Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible
    • Develop ideas to improve operational efficiency, add value and support the continuous improvement culture
    • Promote SMITHS ethics and compliance standards
    • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
    • Formulate and implement preferential procurement policies and procedures that are consistent with the provisions of the South African regulatory regime.


    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Tertiary qualification in Logistics or Procurement, Degree is preferable.
    • Member of CIPS and/or APICS and/or CILT is an advantage.
    • Extensive experience managing a purchasing department with technical value addition and similar functions of this job requirements.
    • Experience in procurement of components for Oil & Gas markets with specific material certificates and end user specifications, but not essential.
    • Delivered actual cost savings or other efficiency benefits within the organization.
    • Experience of working in a multinational and multicultural environment.
    • Experience in the creation of strategy, for part procurement, to reduce inventory holding, without creating “stock-outs”.

    Quality Supervisor

    We are looking for a Quality Supervisor to play a vital role in several ongoing global continuous improvement projects focusing on supplier development and auditing, focusing on customer satisfaction through leadership and knowledge of John Crane’s internal management systems and product requirements.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Key player in implementation and management of Quality Management System
    • Support to QEHS manager through internal audits
    • Support all daily internal and external inspection activities.
    • Provide technical support and training on quality requirement and systems.
    • Supplier development and auditing
    • Evaluation of departmental processes with focus on continuous improvement.
    • Investigation of internal and customer complaints using problem solving techniques.
    • Review product certification and maintain records.
    • Communicate with customers, suppliers and certification bodies regarding quality and compliance issues.
    • Champion departmental CI projects.
    • Any other duties as may be reasonably required of you by your manager

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Grade 12
    • ISO 9001:2015
    • SAP Experience
    • Internal auditing
    • Continuous improvement / Six sigma
    • Advanced metrology skills (CMM programming experience preferred)
    • Extensive experience in Quality Management
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Excellent communication skills and creative problem solving.
    • Experience with lean manufacturing techniques.
    • Excellent planning, project and time management skills
    • Strong computer (Microsoft Office, Internet) skills
    • Valid driver’s license
