    Engineering Foreman - Amanzimtoti

    Duties will include the following:

    • Supervise the Maintenance Fitters and Fitter Aides to ensure that planned and breakdown maintenance is conducted timeously
    • Coordinate capital projects, manage maintenance stocks, and handle purchasing process for spares, materials, and services
    • Oversee staff supervision, working hours, and safety documentation for Plant Fitters, Fitter Aides, and engineering contractors while maintaining the Engineering department's safety files
    • Coordinate with suppliers and service providers for maintenance equipment and spares to ensure efficient stock levels, collections, receipts and maintain preventative maintenance programs to minimize plant downtime
    • Implement process management changes (MOCs) through risk reviews, training assessments while ensuring adherence to the "Permit to work" system by all staff and contractors
    • Effectively manage job card maintenance system for prioritizing jobs, timely repairs execution with minimum plant downtime; update the maintenance database along with all related engineering documentation
    • Actively participate in safety assessments or quality audits conducted; assist with instrument calibrations under ISO 9001 procedures; maintain safe workplace conditions during workshops or other areas where maintenance work occurs.
    • Proactively report and address incidents, irregular emissions, spillages, or potential pollution threats to the Site Engineer, Shift Foreman or Production Manager; assist in containment and environmental impact mitigation efforts
    • Actively conserve resources by minimizing water and electricity wastage while promoting environmental awareness among co-work

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12 graduate with trade-tested artisan certification in Mechanical or Millwright is mandatory, diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
    • 7-10+ years of engineering and maintenance experience in a processing plant, including staff management/supervision
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office at an intermediary level and experienced in project management
    • Well-organized and meticulous, adept at planning and prioritizing activities
    • Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands of the customer/situation
    • Strong communication and people skills

    Technical Sales Support Manager (Agriculture)- Midrand

    Duties will include the following:

    • To act as interface between technical, marketing, sales, agents and farmer customers (cross functional commercial support)
    • Provide product and crop knowledge training to the Sales, Technical and marketing team, including providing customer sales support to customers where challenges arise
    • Conduct planned in-field technical training and practical demonstrations
    • Provide technical support to Sales team where there is a need for technical argumentation as required by agents or farmers
    • Manage complaint investigations ensuring the maintenance of a high level of customer service through taking speedy action
    • Support Key Accounts Managers with in depth technical knowledge
    • Maintain a high level of work ethic and technical competency
    • Assist Sales Team with farmer’s days and study groups as technical backup
    • Assist Marketing by providing sales relevant technical information for updating of product presentations
    • Assist Sales Team in evaluating new customer spraying programs – Direct Marketing
    • Train new RSM’s and FTO’s on older and new products
    • Be the First line of communication between South Africa teams and Agriculture Products experts to speed up the process of feedback on urgent technical questions to ensure high levels of customer service
    • Ensure Demo-trial relevance in accordance with sales/marketing needs
    • Manage pre-launch demo trials up to the point where useful data is generated that can be used for Marketing and Sales purposes
    • Ability to identify market needs and to search for viable solutions from BASF product mix

    What we expect

    • A Bachelors degree or equivalent in Agriculture
    • Minimum 5 years experience in commercial crop protection and row crops
    • Knowledge and specialisation experience in crop protection
    • High level knowledge in crop agronomy of row crops in central area
    • Experience on the farm working with agents and farmers
    • Multilingual in Afrikaans and English
    • Strong Crop disease knowledge with solution-based understanding

    Crop Manager - Cereals and Seed Treatment

    Duties will include the following:

    Portfolio

    • Manage a portfolio of products across key crops, wheat, barley, canola and all seed treatments
    • Identify gaps and opportunities in the portfolio, providing solutions to fill the gaps
    • Conduct product life cycle management, including patent monitoring
    • Assess and mitigate potential risks associated with portfolio management

    Product

    • Develop business cases for new projects by working with the R&D department and the technical trial development team
    • Support local technical team through product development phases
    • Develop training presentations to communicate both marketing and technical benefits
    • Ensure thorough training of sales teams and technical sales support

    Pricing

    • Monitor BASF product pricing & margins and monitor competitor pricing, utilize price value mapping models to optimize pricing strategies

    Training & Sales support

    • Deliver in-field support and recommendations, along with customized programs
    • Enforce adherence to product labels and ensure only registered applications are made

    Key Account Management

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key accounts, and coordinate qualification processes and provide marketing material support

    Connected Offer

    • Develop supporting mechanisms to enhance product distribution, such as seed treatments through to crop protection products

    Forecasting

    • Assist product forecasting with Integrated Business Planning file and collaborate with the Supply Chain team to align on product deliveries
    • Conduct annual reviews of short- and long-term forecasts, comparing them to business cases and a 10-year projection

    Industry Associations

    • Establish and nurture relationships with industry associations, representing BASF brand
    • Monitor industry trends and identify those that may impact the business strategy

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • University degree in Marketing or Agriculture
    • Good understanding of the South African Agricultural & regulatory environment
    • Agro experience either in sales, technical or marketing
    • High proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint
    • High proficiency to communicate key messages clearly to the target audience

    Production Manager - Durban

    Duties will include the following:

    • Collaborate with site manager to define production objectives, goals, and plans in alignment with site strategy and objectives
    • Review operational plan progress, implement contingencies if needed, and ensure achievement of targets in collaboration with site manager
    • Ensure compliance with BASF controls, policies, and regulations to uphold production standards for plant safety, worker safety, and environmental protection
    • Work closely with the Quality Department to ensure successful implementation of recommended process improvements
    • Recruit skilled staff to support team and site goals, provide ongoing support and development for team members, and maintain effective communication processes
    • Ensure that production activities are planned according to agreed forecasts and customer orders
    • Generate process orders for planned production and effectively manage the entire production process to meet targets for efficiency, product quality, cost parameters, fungi cultivation, and inoculant processing
    • Continuously improve production processes and procedures to enhance safety measures and departmental efficiency
    • Collaborate with the Engineering team to establish preventive and corrective maintenance programs that support efficient plant operations

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, Operations Management or an equivalent field
    • 5-8 years of management experience in a similar industry or operation
    • Sound understanding and passion for OHS and/or Responsible Care topics
    • Previous project management experience is highly desired
    • Experience with ISO9001:2015 standards would be advantageous
