    Regulatory Risk- Assistant Manager

    Job Description

    • Evaluate legal and regulatory control design issues, develop mitigation plans, and assess and design regulatory controls procedures and policies
    • Leads interactions with client’s business stakeholders to gather key information on regulatory controls components (e.g. control environment, risk assessment, control activities) to enable a comprehensive assessment
    • Employs an analytics and technology-driven approach to regulatory controls assessment to enable real-time analysis and data-driven decisions
    • Independently performs testing of regulatory controls for design and operating effectiveness
    • Drives analysis of regulatory control deficiencies to prioritize gaps and develop targeted mitigation plans
    • Assesses and develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and alignment with business goals and objectives.
    • Ability to assess various components of the client’s regulatory compliance system to identify gaps and prioritize solutions
    • Conducts regulatory compliance current-state assessments, identifies gaps and prioritizes remediation by leveraging an in-depth understanding of regulations (current and potential) that are relevant to the client’s business
    • Analyzes key components of the client’s regulatory reporting process (e.g., automation, documentation, review and approval) to identify gaps with leading practices.
    • Assesses policies and procedures to analyze compliance with regulatory requirements and evaluate.
    • Where necessary, reviewing legal agreements for the identification of risk for alignment to legislation
    • Executing detailed common law and contract law research where necessary to support regulatory interpretation questions
    • Development of opinions in respect of the impact of common law and regulation on the interpretation of contracts

    Qualifications

    • LLB Degree
    • At least 2 years legal articles
    • At least 3 or 4 years post articles work experience.
    • 2 years’ consulting experience which must include at least 1 years’ regulatory interpretation and policy drafting experience.
    • Legal and regulatory research across African jurisdictions.
    • Legal and regulatory research in respect of digital and technology implementation projects
    • Data and technology regulation experience advantageous

    Business Relationships - Risk Analyst (Southern/Central Africa)

    Job Description

    A support resource team in delivery of standardised aspects of services to internal business especially on:

    • Processing of Business Relationship cases for firm and individual business relationships.
    • Other ad-hoc tasks.
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases contain the required BRMS documentation that is properly completed
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases are completed accurately
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases meet the requirements in respect of layout and neatness
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases have sufficient, relevant and reliable information to be able to conclude on them
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases requiring escalation has been escalated and that the outcome of the escalation has been received.
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases are reviewed and validated before circulated
    • To ensure tracking of all correspondence to cases
    •  To ensure that all BRMS cases are finalised and concluded on and all applicable people informed and notified.
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases are completed in a timely manner (i.e. within 2 to 7 days)
    • To ensure that outstanding information is continuously followed up on in order to finalise a case
    • To provide assistance to other team members
    • To ensure that outstanding information is continuously followed up on in order to finalise a case
    • To ensure that for a team as a whole, BRMS cases are completed in a timely manner (i.e. within 2 to 7 days)
    • Proper monitoring of mailbox requests and assigning of mails to correct individuals timeously
    • To ensure that emails allocated have been appropriately dealt with
    • Regular communication with management when problem areas are identified, and keep management updated
    • Communicate with team and management when uncertain
    • Ability to communicate with Deloitte employees with less assistance from superiors.
    • Assist with general tasks on BRMS cases
    • Assist with additional tasks that may be delegated in an efficient, appropriate and effective manner
    • Ability to deal with more complex cases with less assistance from superiors.

    Qualifications

    • 3 x Year National Diploma/Degree
    • 2 years' experience within the function/area or similar
    • Basic understanding of risk and independence aspects affecting the audit environment.
    • Knowledge of Company Structures
    • General knowledge of “conflict of interest”/” potential conflicts” from a business perspective relating to third parties/business partners
    • Working experience in a role with exposure to risk management / due diligence 
    • Some knowledge of the regulatory bodies (IFAC(IESBA)/SEC/PCAOB etc.)
    • Computer literacy- Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Word.

    Desired Experience and Qualifications

    • 2-3 years’ experience within the function or similar
    • A degree in commercial/business, compliance or risk qualification or similar
