Brief Description        
Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (FASSA), plus an Honours’ degree (or equivalent 4-year degree) with at least 10 years’ post-qualification work experience at an appropriate level of relevant actuarial practice, preferably in investments and/or life insurance. A Masters or PhD, as well as prior lecturing and supervision experience will be considered an advantage.

Duties:

• Teaching, examining, course development and research, supervision of students for Honours’ projects, Masters’ research reports and dissertations, publishing research, and assisting in the management of the actuarial programme.  The candidate would be expected to participate in the activities of the Actuarial Society of South Africa.

Main purpose:

The main purpose of this position/job is:

• To provide strategic and operational management of the Community of Practice/network and its resources towards ensuring the organisation’s successful mission attainment, good governance and sustainability.

Key responsibilities include the following:

• Strategic management
• Programme and operations management
• Project coordination across various streams
• Resource management
• Proposal development and resource mobilisation
• Research oversight
• Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
• Minimum academic requirements and experience:
• A relevant qualification (minimum Honors) from an accredited university or institution. Candidates may come from a wide range of fields.
• 3+ years of related experience
• Experience in Higher Education advantageous
