    Senior Professional Nurse Occupational Health

    Job Description

    As a Senior Professional Occupational Health Nurse your responsibilities will include:

     

    • Conduct pre-employment medical examination and transfer medicals in accordance to medical examination protocols.
    • Provide a baseline health status and determining fitness for duty.
    • Conduct periodic health screening to detect early signs of target organ damage related to specific health hazard exposure.
    • Identify and ensure early and prompt intervention measures to affected employees and referrals to appropriate functionaries.
    • Report and assist on all injuries on duty and occupational diseases.
    • Conduct exit medicals to detect and exclude possible occupational diseases related to occupational exposure.
    • Follow organisational standards and procedures for medical surveillance process.
    • Assess the ability to work and the health status of an employee/client.
    • Assess, monitor and provide support to patients with medical problems impacting on work ability.
    • Provide input into incident investigations.
    • Recommends to the OMP any issue/IOD’s/incidents that transpired at the OHC.
    • Communicates and compiles reports related to medical surveillance/occupational injuries and diseases to the relevant internal and external stakeholders/departments.

    • Act as a role model and actively engage as a team member in all team processes.

    • This role is in the - Safety, Health & Asset Reliability department at a Band 8 level reporting to the Chief Professional Nurse.

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12
    • Diploma or Degree in Nursing
    • B.Tech Occupational Health Nursing
    • Registered with South African Nursing Council
    • Dispensing licence (where applicable to operation)
    • Health Services Management certificate or equivalent will be advantageous
    • Certificate in Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision and VCT

    Experience

     

    • 3 to 5 years’ experience as an Occupational Health Nurse within the mining or industrial environment
    • Registered with the South African Society of Occupational Health Nursing would be advantageous
    • Health Services Management certificate or equivalent would be advantageous
    • Must have excellent people Skills, writing and administration skills
    • Communication skills and critical thinking
    • Must have a Driver’s license
    • Computer proficiency
    • Certificate of Fitness

    SHE Risk Practitioner

    Job Description

    • Through assisting in designing, implementation, evaluation and management of the safety and operational risk control systems, you will enable optimisation of safety and operational risk control systems, as well as safe achievement of business objectives on Site.

    You will also be responsible for:

    • Plan, implement and coordinate the implementation of ORM to all aspects of the operational risk profile
    • Support and coordinate the application of the ORM four layers of risk management at the operation (Baseline risk management, Issue-based risk management, Task risk management, Continuous risk management)
    • Implement and execute operationally against the integrated risk management framework operational risk management processes, systems, standards and procedures
    • Plan and implement the Annual Operational Risk Programme
    • Report, monitor and track operational risk performance
    • Support required integration of operational risk management into leading operational practices and programs such as the Operating Model, incident investigation and assurance practices

    This position is in the Operational Risk Management department at a D1 level, reporting into the Senior Specialist – Operational Risk.

    Qualifications

    • National Diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent (such as sciences, engineering, or other related careers)
    • Courses in management systems (9001, 14001,45001)

    Experience required:

    • Minimum of 5 years relevant operational mining, processing, and engineering related experience
    • An understanding of the operational aspects associated with mining operations
    • Demonstrated understanding of risk management within a technical environment
    • Knowledge and experience with risk assessment techniques such as WRAC, Bow-tie Analysis, HAZOP/HAZAN and other industry recognised techniques and tools
    • Track record of interfacing with and influencing colleagues and coordinating disciplines relevant to risk management

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Must be fluent in English.
    • Report writing skills.
    • Must have Code EB driver’s license.
    • Regional and domestic travel may be required.

    Coordinator Operational Risk

    Job Description

    You will take on a range of different tasks within the SHE Department which will include the following:

    • Plan, implement and coordinate the implementation of ORM with specific focus on Baseline and Issue based risk management activities.
    • Oversee the application of the ORM four layers of risk management at the operation on baseline risk management, issue-based risk management, task risk management and continuous risk management.
    • Co-ordinate the ORM implementation and execution against the integrated risk management framework operational risk management processes, systems, standards, and procedures
    • Implement the functioning of operational risk management IT Platform
    • Co-ordinate planning and implementation of the annual Operational Risk Programme and support the managerial oversight of the delivery of operational risk targets and key results areas.
    • Assess operational risk performance and provide status evaluation reports to operations management and operational risk role holders and support action planning where required.
    • Support formal operational risk capacity building programs at operations.
    • Provide risk based operational input to ensure operation to ensure management of material risks and integration of operational risk management into leading operational practices and programs such as the Operating Model, incident investigation and assurance practices.

    This role is in the SHE Department at a Band 6 Level reporting into Senior Specialist- Operational Risk Management

    Qualifications

    • National diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent (such as risk management, sciences, engineering, or other related careers)
    • Courses in Management System (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)

    To be successful, you will have the following experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years relevant operational mining, processing, and engineering related experiences
    • Supervisory experience will be advantageous.
    • An understanding of the operational aspects associated with mining and mineral processing operations.
    • Demonstrated understanding of risk management within a technical environment
    • Knowledge and experience with risk assessment techniques such as WRAC, Bow-tie Analysis, HAZOP/HAZAN and other industry recognized techniques and tools.
    • Knowledge of safety, health and environment policies, procedures.
    • Consistently demonstrating required behaviors and championing safety values

    Knowledge And Skills

    Manager SHE - Kolomela Mine

    • We have an exciting position for a Manager SHE (S&SD) – Kolomela Mine to execute the overall management of Safety, Health, and Environmental areas on the mine. To manage, integrate, support implementation, and coordinate the Safety & Sustainable Development policies, management plans and standards at mine level.     As a Manager SHE – Kolomela Mine, you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Develop and implement an overall medium and long term SHE Strategy for the site, to achieve continuous improvement of SHE processes securing a healthy work environment with minimal risks to employees.
    • Ensure that the Mine complies with the relevant safety, health, environment (SHE) legislation.
    • Ensure that all employees are aware of SHE requirements and take responsibility for their own safety and that of others to enhance safe working conditions.
    • Ensure that an effective occupational health service exists that ensures the mine complies relevant occupational health and hygiene legislation, Anglo American requirements, and other requirements relevant to the role.
    • Ensure that mine workplaces are monitored for SHE risks and these risks are managed within required standards.
    • Supports line in ensuring that a culture exists in which employees do not tolerate below standard health risks to ensure overall health and safety.
    • Ensure complete and accurate incident information is captured to allow for quality analysis of incidents that facilitates informed decision making.
    • Provide leadership, guidance and expert advice to key internal and external stakeholders relating to SHE Issues in the organization.
    • Actively monitor, review and report on HSSE trends and work practices that will drive improved SHE performance and minimize operational risk to the business.
    • Manage the section's expenditure within the approved budget to ensure effective cost control and savings.
    • Support the mine to achieve their sustainable Mining Plan objectives and targets.
    • Manage the security and protection services department.

    This role is in the Safety and Sustainable Development department at a Band 5 level reporting to the General Manager Kolomela Mine.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Safety / Environmental Management
    • Post Graduate qualification will be an advantage
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Experience

    • 8 - 10 Years relevant experience (including managerial) preferably in a mining environment
