    Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer: Educational Psychology

    Duties        

    • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Educational Psychology. 
    • Participating in the development and assessment of teaching and learning opportunities.
    • Researching and publishing in areas of specialisation.
    • Supervision of postgraduate students.
    • Identifying and applying for research funding.
    • Participating in Social Impact projects and rendering appropriate services to Stellenbosch University (SU) and the teaching community.
    • Performing academic and programme management functions.

    Job Requirements    

    • A relevant PhD in Educational Psychology/Education.
    • An appropriate teaching qualification.
    • A strong academic record, including international collaborations.
    • NRF grading (Full Professor).
    • Sound expertise and experience of interpretive research.
    • Thorough knowledge of educational psychology; learning support, educational changes, policy and context.
    • Relevant teaching and training experience at tertiary level.
    • Computer literacy, with the ability to use various Microsoft programs (Word, PowerPoint, 
    • Teams, online teaching platforms).
    • Commitment to further research and leadership.
    • Attending and presenting papers at national and international conferences.
    • Recent and relevant publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals.
    • Postgraduate research supervision (completed).

    Senior Director: Learning and Teaching Enhancement

    Requirements

    • Doctoral degree.

    • At least seven years' relevant management experience in higher education.

    • Demonstrated and detailed understanding of the South African higher education system and higher education policy framework.

    • Proven leadership and strategic planning abilities.

    • The ability to contribute to the SU strategy as a member of a senior management team.

    • Demonstrated experience in conducting, supervising and communicating institutional research/data for strategic decision making.

    • Sound interpersonal skills to lead and to work as part of a team.

    • The ability to function effectively in a transforming multilingual institutional culture.

    • The ability to think innovatively and to thrive in an interdisciplinary environment.

    • Proven knowledge and academic standing in the field of higher education studies, including but not limited to, teaching and learning through a recognisable body of published intellectual work.

    • Demonstrable understanding of current trends and debates in digitally mediated teaching and learning.

    • Knowledge and experience of being part of/or leading academic planning and academic renewal processes at departmental, faculty or, preferably, at institutional level.

    Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (Senior Phase): IsiXhosa Language Education and Literacy

    Requirements

    • PhD in Language Education.
    • A minimum qualification in either Senior Phase teaching or PGCE majoring in isiXhosa education.
    • Experience in curriculum design at both undergraduate levels, specifically for isiXhosa, and at postgraduate level, for isiXhosa Education.
    • Relevant experience in school and higher education training. 
    • Experience of supervision in programmes in teaching and learning of isiXhosa or African languages at postgraduate level, including experience in successful supervision of several honours.
    • Good administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills, and being prepared to be involved in departmental activities.
    • An advanced level of isiXhosa education, including language structures and conventions of isiXhosa.

    Senior Lecturer: Hebrew and Ancient Cultures

    Requirements

    • A doctoral degree in Biblical Hebrew/Ancient Semitic Languages or cognate field.

    • A proven record of high-quality published research outputs on a continuous basis in the research areas mentioned above, demonstrating experience and versatility in these fields.

    • National and international recognition in the research areas above, as demonstrated by, for example, an NRF rating.

    • Significant experience in the teaching of Ancient Semitic Languages, and specifically Biblical Hebrew and the cultures of Ancient West Asia and North Africa.

    • Proven experience of successful postgraduate supervision in Biblical Hebrew or a cognate field.

    • Flexibility to get involved in the various curricula and modules offered by the Department.

    • Proficiency in the use of information technologies in the teaching and studying of Biblical

    • Hebrew and Ancient Cultures.

    • The ability to work independently as well as in a team.

    • Proficient communication and lecturing skills.

    Senior Lecturer/Lecturer: Mathematics

    Requirements

    For appointment as Senior Lecturer:

    • A PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field.

    • Evidence of recent research experience in an area that will strengthen the research profile of the Mathematics Division. Preference will be given to candidates working in Number Theory, Algebra, Geometry or Analysis, but applicants from all areas of Mathematics will be considered.

    • A growing research publication record in high quality peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences.

    • Proven experience and commitment to teaching Mathematics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

    • Successful postgraduate supervision or co-supervision (as one of the main co-supervisors) to completion, at least at master's level.

    • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.

    Requirements

    • PhD in bioinformatics or a related field (e.g., Computer Science with a focus on biological applications).

    • Academic experience: At least eight years¿ post-PhD experience in the field of bioinformatics.

    • Experience supervising postgraduate students up to PhD level.

    • Interdisciplinary collaboration: Experience working with researchers from diverse backgrounds (biology, computer science, statistics).

    • Data analysis skills: Strong background in statistical analysis techniques relevant to biological data interpretation.

    • Proven experience in processing and analysing high-dimensional data.
