    Maintenance Engineer - Richards Bay

    Job Advert Summary    

    Maintenance Engineer position is currently vacant within the Engineering Department of BTT Richards Bay. 

    The main purpose of the job is to provide engineering services to guarantee the effective and efficient delivery of maintenance investigations, continuous improvement, and replacement projects within the region. The incumbent in this position will also provide technical support in terms of ensuring the total plant reliability.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

    • Ability to plan organise, prioritise and multi-task at a senior level.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • High levels of integrity and confidentiality.
    • Must be able to work well in teams.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering BTech, Degree or equivalent.
    • Minimum 3 years Maintenance/ Project/Engineering experience – preferably in the chemical/Petro-chemical industry
    • 3 years supervisory or management experience
    • Solid understanding of maintenance systems
    • Ability to prepare and manage budgets (OPEX & CAPEX)
    • Good understanding of SHEQ systems (OHSAS18001, ISO14001 & ISO9001)
    • Good understanding of API 653/650 standards
    • Eligible to obtain GCC Factories in the next 3 years

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Effectively and efficiently implement a maintenance strategy for the business units.
    • Provide input from a maintenance perspective into the engineering department’s business plans.
    • Conduct feasibility studies as and when required.
    • Plan and execute planned and unplanned outages/shutdowns within agreed time, cost, quality and scope.
    • Ensure that equipment that is out of service are effectively and efficiently brought back into service.
    • Assist in development and management of maintenance OPEX and CAPEX budget for the business
    • Ensure compliance to SHEQ systems OHS Act and other industry applicable legislation.
    • Ensure that all new assets are captured on the system and a preventative maintenance plan is executed.
    • Drive the MOC process and ensure that timeous feedback is given to relevant stakeholders
    • Ensure that the maintenance management programme/system is set up to produce accurate information for reporting and decision making.
    • Analyse factors leading to breakdowns and implement preventative measures to prevent future failures.
    • Ensure that all statutory routines and schedules are in place.
    • Contribute to site optimisation program, by focusing on innovative solutions for continuous improvement.
    • Timeously execute maintenance of electrical and mechanical components
    • Mentor, coach and develop trainees and junior staff in the department
    • Maintain a positive relationship with all internal and external stakeholders.

    Operator - Isando

    Job Advert Summary    
    Bidvest Tank Terminals has an opportunity for an Operator. This opportunity exists within the Operations Department, based in Isando, reporting to the Operations Supervisor.

    The incumbent in this position will ensure that all operational activities are conducted in accordance with the Bidvest Tank Terminals standards, procedures, and work instructions, to ensure the safe, effective and efficient storage and handling of bulk liquids according to laid down customer quality specifications and requirements.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent (Maths and Science preferred)
    • 1 to 2 years Operations experience
    • Code 08 Drivers licence preferred

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Report unsafe acts and conditions
    • Ensure compliance to OHS Act, SHEQ systems (ISO 45001, ISO14001 & ISO9001)
    • Ensure that all accidents/Incidents/ near misses/ observations are reported
    • Co-ordinate and execute all site activities
    • Perform gas testing
    • Perform vessel entry inspection
    • Perform and calculate stop dips and pumping rates
    • Dip tanks daily/weekly/monthly
    • Perform IBC drumming activities
    • Direct and co-ordinate all vehicles’ movements
    • Respond/Investigate to any high/low level alarms from the tank gauging system
    • Conduct hose inspection and pressure testing
    • Capture tank heating, chilling and nitrogen data
    • Capture daily/weekly/monthly dips
    • Able to work on a shift system

    Customs Clearing Coordinator - Durban

    Job Advert Summary    

    Bidvest Tank Terminals has an opportunity for a Customs Clearing Coordinator. This opportunity exists within the Customs and Clearing Department, based in Head Office, reporting to the Customs Clearing Supervisor.

    To look after all the Customs Clearing needs of allocated clients and process Import and Export Bills as per customers specific requirements.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric
    • Customs Affairs Diploma or equivalent
    • Four years general experience in a Customs Clearing environment with good knowledge of Customs Affair
    • A good working knowledge of South African Customs Legislation
    • Experience in Microsoft Office and Cargowise
    • Experience on SAP would be advantageous

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Framing and invoicing of Ex-Bond Bills of Entries (XIB, XRW, XGR, XIR, XDP)
    • Ensure that all Export, XIB and XRW Bills of Entries are acquitted
    • Frame and invoice Import and Export movements timeously, correctly and efficiently
    • Maintain and safe keep ITAC rebate or Import permits
    • Capturing of Cargo Dues
    • Ensure that all Import shipment documents meet all requirements and have signed Clearing Instructions
    • Ensure that all Export shipments have sufficient documentation for customs purpose
    • Ensure that all outstanding bonded movements are framed or otherwise accounted for
    • Ensure that all disbursements paid on behalf of the customer are invoiced
    • Act as back up to other staff members
