    Mechanical Engineer (DL) - Empangeni

    Accountabilities

    • Involvement in procurement, negotiations with outside parties, and quality control during manufacture and installation, acceptance testing and commissioning.
    • Providing engineering expertise to operations to ensure smooth and optimum performance of plant machinery and systems. 
    • Carrying out problem solving, failure root cause analysis, provision of solutions and preventative measures.
    • Develop and review technical specifications for Mechanical equipment.
    • Perform design analysis on failures to determine root causes.
    • Perform design analysis on existing equipment to determine its remaining life and develop improvement modifications.
    • Assisting with the building of technical competence in the organisation. To set an example for mechanical engineering, driving the adoption of improved technology and in the diligent application of mechanical engineering principles.
    • Dissemination of technical information and the mentoring of engineers in training.
    • Development and application of good engineering standards and practices and the carrying out of technical audits.
    • Autonomous management of improvement projects and interventions within any field typical to the role of a mechanical engineer in the sugar industry, including plant maintenance, maintenance strategies and aspects of plant operations.
    • Managing Plant SHEQ issues.  Risk identification and management.
    • Developing productive working relationships with factory personnel and industry specialists.
    • Perform standby duties on a rotational schedule

    Qualifications and Experience Required:

    • BScEng / BTech (Mechanical), from an institution accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa for registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Technologist.
    • Strong driver and implementer who takes initiative

    KNOWLEDGE:

    • Pumps (positive displacement & centrifugal), gearboxes, fans, compressors, centrifuge, welding technologies, bearings, basic structural engineering, asset management.
    • Materials Handling.
    • Technology selection, system specification.
    • Mechanical Engineering Design. Detail equipment design & specification, international drawing standards.
    • Project Management, commissioning.
    • Budget preparation, feasibility studies, basic project management practises.
    • Software Tools - MS Office Suite, MS Projects, CAD (Autodesk Inventor/Solid Edge). 
    • Safety, Health and Environment legislation and standards.
    • Advanced mechanical design will be advantageous.
    • GCC and/or registration as a professional in relevant category with ECSA will be advantageous.

    • Problem Solving - able to apply rigorous problem solving methods to find root causes, explore creative options and solve difficult problems for measurable business value.
    • Analytical thinking - able to interpret, link and analyse information systemically to understand complex issues.

    Technical Sales Representative - Johannesburg

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

    •  Compile weekly statistics to measure performance.
    •  Implement and / or discuss measures to improve volumes and or/ profitability.
    •  Report regularly (weekly & monthly) on area sales performance.
    •  Plan and record customer visits ensuring that regular contact and communication is maintained through business reviews.
    •  Monitor & report back on competitor activities.
    •  Manage customer pricing and RTM.

    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

    •  Matric & National Diploma in Food Technology or Sales & Marketing Qualification with a solid  3-4 years food / ingredients technical background and experience in sales preferably in food       manufacturing. With a valid Code 8 driver’s licence.
    •   Sales focused & building customer relationship with attention to detail.
    •  Must have high ethical values, be professional & matured.
    •  Required to be able to work outside the normal working hours.
    •  A team player with a strong, confident and assertive personality.
    •  Ability to take Initiative.
    •  Excellent communication & negotiation capabilities.  
    • Computer literate & proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SAP (advantageous).

    Planning Officer (CU) - Richards Bay

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Creates and maintains Maintenance Schedules.
    • Writing of clear and concise work procedures. Compiling information into Job packages for skilled trade.
    • Resources work within defined Work Management principles and standards. 
    • Keeping Bills of Materials current.
    • Maintains appropriate records to permit the meaningful analysis and reporting of results and compiles reports from CMMS regarding the work.
    • Execution management process as required for reporting to various tiers in the organisation.
    • Measuring the maintenance backlog accurately in its various forms and continually maintaining not less than 2 weeks’ worth of ready backlog.
    • Participating in outage and shutdown planning activities including Scope Identification and Control, Work Co-ordination, Risk Assessments, Work Execution, and continuous improvement.
    • Liaise on a regular basis with internal & external stakeholders i.e. service providers, etc. 
    • Promote team building and a harmonious working environment.
    • Application of Health, Safety & Environmental standards
    • Attend to queries and enquiries related to activities and operations

    Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Required 

    • Engineering qualification N6 or higher and / or equivalent planning certificate.  
    • Minimum 3 years in skilled trades and 2 years as a supervisor. Strong Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation aptitude. Minimum 3 years work experience with EAM/CMMS. Significant SAP experience is essential.
    • Computer skills. Proper use of the SAP EAM tool (CMMS). Advanced skills in Excel and Word. 
    • Project Management, Software (MS Projects, Primavera, Outlook, OneNote, etc.) Knowledge and understanding of Work Management principle and maintenance processes.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprint, OEM manuals and drawings
