    Technical Producer - Morning

    Key Accountabilities:

    Show Production and Audio Management: 

    • Produce all show promos, imaging, replays, and audio elements for assigned shows.
    • Ensure all produced content aligns with station sound and presenter identity.
    • Manage and deliver daily production requirements across two shows.
    • Capture and edit listener voices and interviews for on-air and promotional use.

    Workflow and Output Management:

    • Manage workload across both shows to meet deadlines and maintain consistency.
    • Log and track all production using internal systems (Tracker portal + tally sheet).
    • Ensure all content is approved by the Producer before flight.
    • Deliver within tight turnaround times while maintaining quality.
    • Arrive hour before show to prep

    Desk Operations and OB Support: 

    • Operate the technical desk during live broadcasts where required.
    • Run desk for Outside Broadcasts (OBs), ensuring clean execution and broadcast quality.
    • Troubleshoot minor technical issues and escalate where necessary.

    Archiving and Administration: 

    • Archive all final approved audio to the Production Cloud (ECR Tech Producer Archive).
    • Maintain clean and organized audio systems (Zetta/Colony or equivalent).
    • Ensure all production work is documented and accessible

    Collaboration:

    • Work closely with Producers to execute show vision and meet content objectives.
    • Communicate proactively on deadlines, challenges, and production needs.
    • Contribute to overall production quality and team efficiency.

    Requirements

    Qualification Requirements:

    • Diploma or Degree in Sound Engineering

    Junior Music Compiler

    Key Accountabilities: 

    Audience-Centric Programming:

    • Maintain a deep understanding of music trends and preferences specifically for East Coast Radio’s P1 and P2 audiences to ensure maximum listener retention.

    Research Integration:

    • Analyse and apply local radio market research data to inform playlist decisions and ensure the station's sound remains competitive within the KZN landscape.

    Daily Log Audits:

    • Perform daily audits of playout logs in GSelector/Zetta to identify and correct any rule violations, manual overrides, or unintended rotation drift.

    Music Tracker & Database Alignment:

    • Update the weekly music tracker/worksheet and execute all rotation and category changes within GSelector to maintain an accurate music library.

    Digital Stream Management:

    • Oversee the scheduling and technical management of East Coast Radio’s digital streams, ensuring a high-quality listening experience across all online platforms.

    Music Calendar & Features:

    • Actively contribute to the station’s music calendar and implement key music features or activations in line with the broader programming strategy.

    Music Industry Liaison & Artist Bookings:

    •       Serve as a point of contact for record companies and artists, including identifying and setting up interviews with local talent to support content goals and local music quotas.

    Playlist Compilation:

    • Generate daily playlists for assigned shows, ensuring a balanced music flow that adheres to scheduling rules and meets local content targets. 

    Regulatory Reporting:

    • Compile and submit monthly ICASA, SAMRO, and SAMPRA reports to track music performance and ensure legal compliance.

    Requirements

    Educational Requirements: 

    • Matric/Grade 12
    • Relevant Tertiary Qualification

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements: 

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a radio programming or scheduling department.
    • Intermediate proficiency in GSelector and Zetta.
    • Proven understanding of the South African and regional KZN radio market
    • Familiarity with radio research methodologies and how to interpret listener data.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and all broadcast programs used by East Coast Radio.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for liaising with record labels and internal talent.
    • Able to operate in a demanding environment that requires both creative and analytical thinking.
    • Basic proficiency in industry-standard audio editing software for prepping music features or interview clips
    • Exceptional deadline management and organizational skills

    Radio Producer

    Key Accountabilities:

    Content Planning & Execution: 

    • Plan and screen listener calls and voice notes in line with the station’s strategy.
    • Develop and execute show ideas, campaigns, and activations with presenters and the programming team.
    • Source and curate relevant content from digital platforms, listeners, and internal teams.
    • Ensure high-quality podcast, catch-up, and bespoke digital content aligned with station strategy.

    On-Air Production & Show Management:

    • Guide presenters and the production team during the show to ensure smooth flow and alignment with the format.
    • Prepare and deliver detailed presenter briefs before and during the show.
    • Develop and manage structured form guides to support content flow and storytelling.
    • Oversee technical production elements including promos, imaging, and show assets.
    • Ensure regular updates and delivery of show promos.
    • Conduct regular air checks to maintain quality and consistency.

    Digital & Audience Engagement:

    • Monitor and respond to listener feedback across platforms such as WhatsApp and social media.

    Multimedia Journalist

    Key Accountabilities: 

    Multimedia Reporting: 

    • Receiving an assignment or evaluating news leads and news tips to develop unique content.
    • Gathering and verifying factual information regarding stories through interviews, observation, and research.
    • Report, write, capture visual content, edit and produce stories for multiple platforms on deadline for all digital channels.
    • Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
    • Provide live reports/ crossing from site of events.
    • Write and produce quality news stories for multiple online platforms as per the style guide.
    • Generating new stories as well as developing and moving on stories already in the news.
    • Producing content for use in bulletins and online.
    • Assist in the planning and production of all news/current affairs across platforms including packages, special reports and on-air radio programmes where required.

    Sourcing & Compilation:

    • Providing original content for radio and on all digital platforms.
    • Ensure relevant news stories are reflected online.

    • Brief newsroom to prioritize stories and to choose events to cover.
    • Log events.

    Press Conferences

    • Record information for bulletins.
    • Download quality sound for bulletins
    • Share relevant information with News Room. 
    • Responsible for acquiring pictures at all newsworthy events for website and social media captions.
    • Build up and maintain contact database. 
    • Maintain a good relationship with newsmakers, various departmental and organizational spokespeople.

    Team Participation:

    • Ensure continuity through the various news shifts.
    • Ensure all relevant stories are followed up and passed on through the different shifts.
    • Contributes positively to the news team and station.
    • Constant communication, interaction and feedback with colleagues.
    • Contribute stories to the forward planning diary.

    General & Administrative Tasks:

    • Execute any tasks that may reasonably be expected.
    • Assist in various areas of the news department.
    • Attend news diary meetings daily.
    • Work Shifts according to Shift Roster.
    • Required to work on weekends in accordance to shift roster as required.
    • Participate in station promotions as and when required

    Requirements

    Qualification Requirements: 

    • Grade 12/ Matric
    • Degree or Diploma in Journalism

    Experience & Skills Requirements:

    • 2 - 3 years related experience in a newsroom both desk & field 
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of News and the Broadcast Industry.
    • Vast knowledge of current affairs.
    • Willing to work irregular and flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays as and when required.
