Radio Producer at Kagiso Media

Key Accountabilities:

Content Planning & Execution: 

• Plan and screen listener calls and voice notes in line with the station’s strategy.
• Develop and execute show ideas, campaigns, and activations with presenters and the programming team.
• Source and curate relevant content from digital platforms, listeners, and internal teams.
• Ensure high-quality podcast, catch-up, and bespoke digital content aligned with station strategy.

On-Air Production & Show Management:

• Guide presenters and the production team during the show to ensure smooth flow and alignment with the format.
• Prepare and deliver detailed presenter briefs before and during the show.
• Develop and manage structured form guides to support content flow and storytelling.
• Oversee technical production elements including promos, imaging, and show assets.
• Ensure regular updates and delivery of show promos.
• Conduct regular air checks to maintain quality and consistency.

Digital & Audience Engagement:

• Monitor and respond to listener feedback across platforms such as WhatsApp and social media.
• Collaborate with digital and visual teams to create and distribute engaging multi-platform content.
• Ensure on-air content is effectively extended across digital and social channels.
• Oversee timely updates of show content on digital platforms and the website.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

• Work closely with internal teams (content, sales, digital, and talent) to develop stories and campaigns.
• Coordinate promotional activities with relevant stakeholders and teams.
• Ensure delivery of content and programming requirements in line with client expectations.
• Identify and contribute to commercial opportunities through collaboration and brainstorming.
• Participate in daily and weekly meetings to align content across the station.

Performance & Administration:

• Support the Programme Manager in achieving strategic content and commercial objectives.
• Provide constructive feedback to presenters and team members to enhance performance.
• Manage administrative tasks required for the smooth running of the show.
• Coordinate content and commercial elements to ensure readiness for broadcast.

Requirements

Qualification Requirement:

• Grade 12/Matric
• Relevant Degree/Diploma

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of five years of senior-level programming experience
• Comprehensive understanding of studio operations, including technical aspects
• Experience working with on-air talent and producers
• Passion for creating engaging media properties
• Comfortable with online platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SoundCloud, WhatsApp, TikTok, and others
• Good knowledge of music radio formats
• Knowledge of the South African and regional radio market
• Talent management experience
• Proficient in facilitating two-way and group communication
• Proficient in Microsoft Office computer including all broadcast programs
• Proficiency in industry-standard photo, audio, and video editing software
• Extensive knowledge of current affairs
• Ability to identify interesting topics for radio in line with station and show strategy
• A network of contacts within the media and entertainment industry
