    Unit Manager-Theatre

    Job Summary:

    • To plan, monitor, coordinate and oversee the Unit’s operations and processes to ensure quality patient care and the overall running of the unit including but not limited to managing the ward clerks, RN, EN and ENA’s roles and responsibilities. Take responsibility for the mentoring, coaching, training and development of nursing staff and managing the Unit budget and ensuring cost saving and stakeholder engagement. 

    REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Cur/Diploma in General Nursing.
    • Diploma or Degree in operating Room Nursing.
    • Nursing Administration qualification.
    • Experience in Theatre Nursing Scrub Disciplines: Ophthalmic, Gynaecology, ENT, General Surgery, Orthopeadic, Maxilla facial is essential.
    • Current registration with South African Nursing Council.
    • BLS qualification.

    Minimum Experience:

    • 3+ years’ experience at a managerial/supervisory level and or previous experience as an Acting Unit Manager.

    Added Advantage:

    • Risk Management Certificate / occupational health / Infection Control certificate and experience is advantageous.
    • Further Business Management qualification advantageous.
    • Updated ACLS/PALS/ATLS advantageous.
    • Experience within a private hospital environment is advantageous.

     DELIVERABLES:

    • Plan and organise multiple work outputs by assigning tasks and priorities and continuously reviewing objectives and goals in line with the Unit standards.
    • Plan, organise, supervise and assess quality nursing standards and ensure efficient and effective execution of the required tasks.
    • Accumulate information to report on work progress and use for decision making purposes and the identification of improvement opportunities.
    • Translate and drive adherence to the relevant regulatory principles and standards across the unit as set out by the SANC and other regulatory bodies.
    • Act as the liaison between nurses and other departments, whilst engaging with relevant stakeholders to ensure operational efficiencies are coordinated to improve overall effectiveness of unit activities in line with hospital requirements.
    • Facilitate and maintain the doctor’s theatre list allocation and ensure all required equipment is set for procedures.
    • Organise and monitor stock levels to maximize efficiency, ensuring an effective stock management system is implemented in Units.
    • Ensure that clinical equipment is managed appropriately by staff and that care is taken in terms of prevention of damage to equipment.
    • Manage ward clerks, RNs, RNAs as well as ENAs within area of accountability and drive service optimisation.
    • Conduct environmental and patient safety checks within the ward taking prompt action when required, to meet set clinical quality standards per agreed policies and procedures.
    • Supervise and ensure that principles of aseptic technique are adhered to in order to prevent cross infection.
    • Ensure adherence in line with theatre Standard Operating procedures as well as Safety.
    • Develop and co-ordinate the yearly SHERQ action plan and longer term SHERQ roadmap, prepare monthly reports on progress and present feedback at Group forums.
    • Coordinate with management and staff on policy review and implementation.
    • Support Hospital Manager in the annual review of National Core Standards to ensure compliance.
    • Liaise with relevant HR Business Partner in order to initiate and coordinate a training plan and updating information for personnel, audit and DOH requirements.
    • Assist in retaining all current quality accreditations and work towards the attainment of new quality accreditations.
    • Compile relevant SHERQ reports and progress on all incidents and accident investigations and report back to Hospital Management and Head Office with recommendations and timelines.
    • Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with overall legislation and COID, including investigations and findings within the prescribed standards.
    • Formulate and maintain updated guidelines and procedures for prevention, identification and control of infection at hospital level as well as corrective actions such as isolation precautions.
    • Develop and maintain updated risk register including actions to mitigate risks whilst maintaining accurate reporting and record keeping of all SHERQ activities.

    Intermediate Life Support

    JOB SUMMARY

    • To coordinate and execute the care of patients within the scope of Life Support scope of practice.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Matric
    • Intermediate Life Support (ILS) qualification or equivalent
    • CPD compliant with HPCSA
    • Valid PrDP permit

    Minimum Experience

    Clinical Facilitator

    Job Summary:

    • The Clinical Facilitator is responsible for the provision of clinical education and training support within the Nursing Disciple and for the overall skills plan of the hospital. Passing on knowledge and further development of Nursing Students.

    Minimum Qualifications and experience:

    • Nursing degree/ diploma
    • Trained in either NNICU/AICU/Theatre/ED/Midwifery

    Case Manager

    Job Description

    • To plan, coordinate and execute case management work at hospital level. The incumbent utilities clinical knowledge to minimise financial risk and ensure accurate billing through comprehensive accurate coding of patient care.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Relevant Nursing qualification.
    • CM or Billings Clerk with ICD training and anatomy and physiology course certification.
    • IDC and CPO coding.
    • 3-5 years’ experience as a hospital case manager.

    Minimum work experience:

    • Liaise with Receptionist for authorisations.
    • Ensure compliance to case management procedures, standards and protocols.
    • Plan, coordinate and execute Clinical coding in accordance with relevant CHG standards and protocols.
    • Ensure accurate, appropriate and complete diagnostic and procedural coding of all patient records in the hospital.
    • Timeously and consistently communicate and follow up with Funders (Medical Aids, COID, Government, RAF, DOL, etc.).
    • Provide appropriate clinical information to Funders in order to update Length of Stay, Level of Care, formulary utilisation, assistive devices / Prosthesis, diagnostic interventions, therapy intervention and procedural interventions and required change in the facility.
    • Consult daily with all relevant health care providers with regards to patient treatment.
    • Ensure the maintenance of patients’ clinical status (subsequent interventions and treatments) in accordance to Funder requirements for the duration of hospitalisation.
    • Ensure the correct categorisation and management of different patient accounts to facilitate reimbursement by Funder.
    • Ensure accurate and timeous finalisation of cases to facilitate reimbursement by Funders.
    • Minimise financial risk by the effective management of patient hospitalisation.
    • Follow the established and approved escalation processes in the event of a decline of payment by Funder.
    • Ensure to remain in the group and facility targets of 3 days for WIP (work in progress) and DNYB (discharged not yet billed).

    Pharmacist

    Job Summary:

    • The incumbent’s responsibilities are to order, receive, dispense, and issue drugs and stock in accordance with the scope of practice of a Pharmacist as laid down in according to the statutory regulations of the relevant Acts and GPP guidelines.
    • In addition, controlling and monitoring the storage of medicines in the Pharmacy and the hospital and to liaise with other health professionals in a multi-disciplinary approach towards patient care.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent level of education.

    • Current registration with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist.
    • 1 to 2 years’ experience in a retail pharmacy or a private hospital setting.
    • Computer proficiency – SAP and Unisolv.

    Minimum Job Requirements: 

    • Order, receive and dispense medication according to Good Pharmacy Practice guidelines and advise patient on the use of generic medicine preparations.
    • Issue drugs as per Group Standard Operating Practices.
    • Charge relevant ward, check stock on hand and physically deliver or collect as per agreement with the Unit Manager.
    • Responsible for full stock control function; including levels, counts, expirees, formulary, etc.
    • Take charge of junior pharmacy staff members.
    • Deliver a customer-focused pharmacy experience in as efficient a manner as possible.
    • Identify and prevent financial risks to the organization by adhering to Company policies and procedures, for example the collection of levies and private patient cash payments on dispensing.

    Registered Nurse - Wellness

    Job Description

    • The Registered Nurse will promote and deliver quality patient care and wellness in accordance with industry standards and to execute Nursing duties within the standards, procedures and protocols set down by the South African Nursing Council and Scope of Practice.

    • Document patient care services by accurately charting inpatient and department records including updating care plans as patient needs changes.
