    Lecturer: Chemical Engineering

    • Master’s qualification in Chemical Engineering. All underpinning qualifications must be in Chemical Engineering
    • At least 2 years lecturing experience at the higher education level or 2 years related industry experience at the senior level or a combination of the two.

    Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

    Academic Development and Teaching:

    Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer: Industrial & Systems Engineering

    Head of Department (HOD):

    • The successful candidate will be appointed permanently in the Department as Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer and will be appointed as a rotational HOD in line with the rotational HOD guideline for a 5-year period and at the expiry of the 5-years rotational HOD appointment the incumbent will revert back to the Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer on a permanent basis.
    • HOD responsibility: The person should be eligible to be appointed as the rotating HOD and manage the department effectively and efficiently in line with the CPUT policies and procedures specifically but not limited to (i) academic project management; (ii) research management; (iii) HR and staff management; (iv) financial management; and (v) student management.
    • Teaching: The person must be able to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and produce prospective graduates that are able to advance to higher qualifications in Industrial & Systems Engineering.
    • Research: The person must be active in research and successfully supervise undergraduate final year research projects; and postgraduate students.

    Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer:

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    Head of Department:

    • Doctoral qualification in Industrial/ Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Technology Management or related discipline. All base qualifications must be in Industrial/ Systems Engineering.
    • A minimum of 5 years in an industrial environment or 5 years’ higher education lecturing and research experience (with at least 3 years’ experience as a Senior Lecturer).
    • Management experience with an understanding of curriculum development; quality assurance; professional body accreditation processes; financial and HR management of a department.
    • A track record in post graduate supervision with successful postgraduate students.
    • A track record in research output in accredited journals.
    • Must be registered with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

    Associate Professor:

    • Doctoral qualification in Industrial/ Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Technology Management or related discipline. All base qualifications must be in Industrial/ Systems Engineering.
    • A minimum of 5 years relevant Industrial & Systems Engineering experience in an industrial environment or 5 years’ higher education lecturing and research experience.
    • Successful supervision of Master’s and Doctoral students.

    Senior Lecturer:

    LECTURER REQUIREMENTS

    • A Master’s degree or equivalent in Banking or related field (Economics, Accounting or Financial Management)

    Assistant Dean: Learning and Teaching

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    Minimum Requirements for Assistant Dean: 

    • A Doctoral and underpinning qualifications in Commerce or related field (e.g Management Sciences)
    • At least 10 years’ higher education experience (with at least 5 years' relevant experience at a senior level)
    • A demonstrable track record of leadership and mentorship
    • Relevant Higher Education management and coordination experience in programme design and curriculation at undergraduate and post- graduate level as well as a working knowledge of processes within DHET, CHE & SAQA.

    Recommendations
