    Senior Employee Relations Advisor

    Reporting to the Manager Employee Relations- Africa and working in a collaborative community within the business, you will:

    • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the People community, including Areas of Expertise (AoEs), HR Business Partners, and People Experience teams, to drive impactful employee relations (ER) projects and ensure alignment with the Global Employee Relations Framework, regional considerations, and business unit needs.
    • Provide specialist ER support; influencing and advocating for solutions that align with business goals.
    • Proactively identify and manage ER issues in line with Rio Tinto’s strategic direction and work closely with HR leaders to manage integration points and optimize ER outcomes.
    • Guide operations stakeholders in implementing ER strategies and objectives.
    • Offer expert advice on complex case management, serving as a key escalation point and Subject-matter Expert.
    • Monitor, audit, and report on performance at the business level, addressing deficiencies and ensuring seamless execution.
    • Foster effective relationships with legal providers to ensure cost-effective, appropriate advice on ER matters.

    What you’ll bring

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • A proactive outlook identifying risks, solutions and actions before they arise.
    • Work closely with stakeholders across the HR Function to help the development and disciplined execution of projects including project management.
    • Leading collaborative solution development across ER Global Team or local HR, HRBPs and PEx Teams to ER problems.
    • Being able to present and influence and advocate solutions to ER problems with senior HR and Operational leaders.
    • Ability to work independently under pressure and willing to travel.
    • Ability to build relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Building capability of Operations leadership and the HR function in IR and ER issues and developments.
    • A solid working understanding of the highly unionized operations.
    • Proven CCMA knowledge, experience and skills
    • Certification in Employee Relations (desired but not mandatory).
    • Computer literate.

    French- Speaking Officer: Buy (12 Months Fixed – Term Contract)

    Reporting to the Superintendent: Buy -Africa, you will:

    • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials and or services.
    • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best value.
    • Process requisitions (PRs) and update management on status of PRs.
    • Update warehousing team and other departments on progress
    • Actively drive automation of transactional procurement through identifying fixed term pricing opportunities.
    • Identify suppliers for regular feedback and management i.e. high-volume line items suppliers, critical suppliers, high value spend suppliers and suppliers requiring support to improve performance.
    • Maintain effective supplier relationships with key suppliers to ensure effective continuity of supply.
    • Contribute to ongoing service effectiveness through good supplier management by contributing to the selection of the best internal and external providers.

    What you’ll bring

    • Matric and relevant Supply Chain or Procurement Diploma.
    • Degree and or CIPS qualification in Supply chain or Procurement will be advantageous.
    • 3 – 7 years’ experience in purchasing within the mining and or manufacturing and or heavy industry and or production industry preferably services.
    • Must be fluent in French and be able to read and write in French, in addition to English.
    • Experience working with SAP material management.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

    Superintendent: Furnaces (Pyro-metallurgy)

    Reporting to the Manager: CPA and Smelter, your responsibilities will include:

    • Develop and maintain safe operational and engineering standards and continuously review specifications and schedules.
    • Ensure equipment integrity is maintained according to safety standards.
    • Maintain NOSA, MBO system, RT safety standards, Occupational health, safety and environment registers, ISO 14000; 9000 and 18001 systems.
    • Manage and control quality of all raw materials and products.
    • Conduct timeous investigation incidents and ensure adequate remedial action is implemented.
    • Supervise and control the activities, standards of performance and behaviour of designated staff.
    • Ensure training, development and succession of designated subordinate staff within section.
    • Optimize plant performance and resource utilization.
    • Ensure effective support from Process Metallurgy and all other service departments toward enhancing business processes.
    • Prepare and control the section’s annual CAPEX plan by forecasting operational requirements and monitoring / driving progress on a monthly basis.
    • Execute and drive the “Visible felt” leadership program by coaching and observing people on the job

    What you’ll bring

    •  Degree in Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering / Engineering
    • Supervisory / Management qualification (tertiary) would be advantageous.
    • South African driver’s License
    • SAMTRAC training would be advantageous.
    • 5 years production / process / engineering experience, of which 3 years must be within a supervisory capacity within a large industrial environment.
    • Experience with iron, steelmaking and/or hot metal processes within a large industrial / heavy industry environment would be advantageous.
    • In-depth knowledge of pyro-metallurgy, gas and water treatment techniques.
    • Maintenance experience – exposure to basic mechanical, electrical and instrumentation principles

    Procurement Specialist

    Reporting to the RBM Procurement Business Partner, you will:

    • Work with the business to identify, build and translate Supply strategies, be required to meet their objectives with supporting interventions between RTP functions at the department level.
    • Be constructively challenging and coaching end users on their supply chain effectiveness and providing feedback to the RTP functions regarding the effectiveness of RTP processes, policies, programmes, and systems
    • Provide partnering with the business to deliver projects across a broad spectrum including new regional or global strategies, cost initiatives and improvement activities and supporting leadership to define, build, and improve Procurement strategy and delivery.
    • Collaborate with the Global and Regional Category teams and other internal service providers to deliver on identified RTP needs within the business.
    • Act as the face of Procurement and be the first point of contact for procurement escalations for assigned business areas, acting as a conduit for all RTP functions to filter needs to and from the business.
    • Collect and generate domain knowledge and market analysis regarding the sources and drivers of value creation through supplier partnerships, leveraging on this to deliver value for the business.
    • Support the syndication of stakeholders and relationships both internally and externally during the delivery, contract implementation (CMX Key Practice Methodologies) and on-going management of supplier performance and partnerships.
    • Take ownership of the Supplier Partnership process and contribute to driving adoption by responsible End Users. This includes the management of governance, reporting, tools and systems relevant to assigned contracts / suppliers.

    What you’ll bring

    • A minimum of a Degree in  Procurement/ Finance/ Operations  
    • 5 years related work experience in a Procurement environment specifically in the Mining, Manufacturing or heavy industry.
    • Experience working in a large, complex organization (i.e., ability to operate independently and under pressure, to perform multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities, and to deal with changing priorities, while maintaining personal effectiveness)
    • Good communication and people skills – daily interaction with Suppliers, clients and procurement team members.
    • Computer literate on MS Word, SAP & Excel
    • Experience in working within a multi-cultural environment
