    Process Controller Newsprint

    Description

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Process Controller Newsprint to safely and efficiently operate the equipment under his/her control, to ensure optimum production output and quality at the best cost with minimum downtime, rejections and effluent.

    As an Process Controller Newsprintyou will be responsible for:

    • Performing pre-start inspections as per making sheet and operating standards.
    • Starting up and shutting down the Wet End following best practices.
    • Monitoring and controlling visual and physical paper properties (excluding caliper).
    • Taking corrective action to resolve paper quality issues during production.
    • Reporting equipment defects and abnormal conditions to the Shift Superintendent.
    • Optimizing furnish mixes in line with production requirements.
    • Completing shift exception reports and addressing non-conformances.
    • Checking consistencies against lab results and correcting any deviations.
    • Inspecting felt and wire cleaning sequences, effluent flows, and water make-up.
    • Executing shutdown tasks and performing lockouts per Mill procedures.
    • Safely operating the overhead crane and recording downtime in the OEE system.
    • Supporting SHEQ compliance, conducting BBS observations, and maintaining housekeeping.

    What are we looking for:

    • Grade 12 (Maths and Science) or N5 relevant qualification.
    • Minimum of 3 Years Experience in Paper Machine.
    • Outside Operator  licence.

    Waste plant Assistant Operator- Day Shift

    Description

    • We’re on the lookout for a Waste plant Assistant Operator- Day Shift to safely and efficiently ensure a continued supply of waste paper by administrating and liaising with the Waste Plant Outside Operator and customers on the number of loaded and unloaded bales, as well as ensuring the continuous feeding of these bales and loose broke to maintain the waste production levels, in order to supply KLB with good quality fibre.

    As a Waste plant Assistant Operator- Day Shift you will be responsible for:

    • Receiving and off- loading of waste bales from the trucks. Inspection of incoming waste bales loads.
    • Clamp truck inspections and reporting of faults to the Shift Supt.
    • Stacking of waste bales according to size and grade into the correct zones.
    • Rezoning of waste bales according to the Day Shift Supt. instructions.
    • Feeding of waste bales onto the Repulper feed conveyor.
    • Do quality checks of waste bales. Moisture measurements and visual inspections.
    • Cleaning of process rejects bins.
    • Weighbridge ticket collection.
    • Rezoning of K3 and K4 waste bales. 
    • General housekeeping of the waste slab.
    • Daily waste stock taking
    • Ragger rope preparation and change outs.
    • Cutting off baling wires prior to feeding into the Repulper.
    • Assisting the Outside Operator when process problems occur. Clearing of blockages, replacement of cleaner cones and repairing leaks.
    • Cleaning and replacement of process equipment during planned shuts
    • Controlling of the process when the Outside Operator is elsewhere occupied or when there is a staff shortage. Operating the overhead crane and give assistance to the engineering personnel

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric with Maths and Science or N3 Pulp and Paper.
    • 6 months Plant experience.

    Temp: Reliever Recovery CRF2

    Description

    We are hiring! 

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Temp: Reliever Recovery CRF2 to assist production in reducing overtime by providing leave/training relief.

    As a Temp: Reliever Recovery CRF2you will be responsible for:

    • Takes and hands over shift.
    • Operate process/equipment according to best operating practices.
    • Complete section specific interventions/initiatives as planned and agreed for all the identified positions for the specific section.
    • Relieves operators and carries out all tasks prescribed for these positions.
    • Assists the Foreman/Operating Staff at breakdowns and in the supervision of staff when necessary.
    • Ensure accurate reporting by recording all incidents in the shift log book.
    • Reports all breakdowns, faulty equipment to Foreman.
    • Attend progress meetings with the section training representative, line supervisor and/or mentor, coach and act on any remedial action and/or additional requirements.
    • Participates in shift activities (5 why problem-solving etc).
    • Understand the SHEQ requirements of the job.
    • Identify and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards.
    • Comply with all relevant SHEQ requirements.
    • Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times.
    • Conducts regular BBS Observations.
    • Allow current employees to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills (section specific and formal qualification) for his/her current position,
    • Allow identified current employees who meets the minimum requirements for his/her current position (section specific and formal qualification) to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills (formal qualification and section specific) for the next position.

    Requirements:

    • N3 Pulp & Paper or Matric with Mathematics & Physical Science.
    • National Diploma in Pulp & Paper or Chemical Engineering is advantageous.
    • 0–3 months experience as a Process Trainee or Production Intern.
