    Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (Gauteng)

    The key performance areas of the M&E Officer role are:

    • Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of M&E frameworks, tools, policies, and data systems in collaboration with internal teams and IT providers.
    • Oversee accurate and timely data submission from implementing partners, manage data systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure effective data cleaning and validation processes.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues; act as primary liaison with IT service providers.
    • Conduct regular data quality assessments, including on-site verification visits. Identify and correct data discrepancies, support IPs in preparation for audits, and promote data integrity across all systems.
    • Train and mentor implementing partners and staff on M&E practices, tools, and protocols. Serve as a key resource for troubleshooting and system support.
    • Perform basic data analysis, support data-driven decision-making, and contribute to internal and external reporting through data summaries, presentations, and publications.
    • Support staff development, performance management, and a values-driven, high-performance culture within the team (where relevant).
    • Carry out special projects and stand in for colleagues or supervisors as needed.

    Requirements

    Required Qualifications and Experience  

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Public Health, or related field
    • SAMEA membership (advantageous, not essential)
    • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Monitoring & Evaluation role
    • Experience in monitoring, verifying, and promoting data quality in health/social development programmes
    • Proven ability to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic data management systems (e.g., DHIS2, Salesforce, CommCare, custom-built systems) 
    • Proven experience with data analysis tools and languages (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI)
    • Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume environments
    • Experience in capacity development of field staff and stakeholder coordination
    • Proficiency in English and one other South African language (African language advantageous)
    • Experience with data management systems and MS Office suite, especially Excel
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for onsite verifications.

    Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer -Century City

    The duties and responsibilities of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will include, but not limited to:

    • Provide input on M&E framework, indicators, target setting, information management system, and M&E tools.
    • Review Implementing Partner (IP) monthly reports for timeliness, accuracy and completeness, including identifying and addressing any missing data, inconsistencies, discrepancies, or errors.
    • Facilitate informal capacity building sessions with implementing partners on M&E protocols, including manuals and reference guides, for proper implementation of data capturing and related functions.
    • Conduct M&E site visits to implementing partners to champion data ethics and provide M&E-related orientation, training, and mentorship for implementing partners.
    • Track and manage the collection, capturing, analysis & reporting of programmatic data by implementing partners.
    • Compile, interrogate, and analyze data progress towards the achievement of goals related to the programme.
    • Provide data verification feedback to IPs and M&E Specialist/ M&E Manager
    • Assist M&E Specialist/Manager with preparation of reports, presentations, and publications of findings for internal and external stakeholders.

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a monitoring and evaluation function.

    • Experience with donor M&E reporting requirements
    • Demonstrated understanding of data management systems and strong skills in data review, interrogation, analysis and interpretation.
    • Experience managing, consolidating, analyzing and reporting on datasets.
    • Proven experience working effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, high volumes environment.
    • Experience in monitoring and evaluation systems that involve capacity building for field staff and monitoring and promotion of data quality.
    • Demonstrated capacity to lead workshops, training, and planning sessions.
