RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Building of and Installing new electrical systems
• Maintaining and repairing installed electrical systems
• Connection of motors and control switchgear
• Maintaining service records of electrical equipment
• Liaising with other departmental staff, supervisors and managers
• Using APIPRO to plan, track and record tasks
• Ensuring that all work will comply with regulations in the OHSA and the company policies and procedures
• Request required materials for daily tasks and projects from the Electrical Manager
• Ensure that your understand the 24/7 operational needs and facilitate production goals
• Point to point IO checks on PLCs
• Point to point IO checks on control and power systems
• Participate in the RCM program
• Read and use electrical diagrams
• Ensure work standards are achieved
• Ensure the effective use of resources

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Relevant tertiary qualification
• 8+ years of relevant working experience
• Able to work in a pressurized and demanding environment
• Must have your own reliable transport
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Good communication skills
• Work overtime and standby as required by the process demands
• Ability to perform within a team

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Control the operational procedures of the Casting Machine.
• Manage quality standards in accordance with set targets and guidelines
• Control activities of the senior operators sensibly and ensure that shift runs smoothly.
• Communicate general incidents (delays, failures, breakouts, etc.) via the correct channels.
• Identify potential failures, remedied with effective solutions.
• Ensure down time is used effectively
• Optimize production output by constantly monitoring scada feedback and casting parameters.
• Perform daily checks and monitoring of continuous billet casting machinery.
• Ensure smooth operation of billet casting
• Complete incident reports and submit such to the Supervisor.
• Investigate incidents and communicate findings and possible solutions timeously
• Implementation and monitoring of Occupational Health and Safety compliance

Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:

• Matric (Maths compulsory)
• Diploma or studying towards a qualification in Engineering
• Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• Must have ability to detect machine discrepancies
• Excellent Communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a production or mechanical environment
• Self-motivated, self-driven individual able to perform well with minimum supervision
• Ability to work under challenging conditions
• In good health, physically fit

THE FOLLOWING TASKS WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Perform general welding on structures, trailers, trucks and other equipment
• Do positional welding where required
• Works in conjunction with Boilermaker
• Must be proficient in Arc, MIG ,TIG welding and Gouging.
• Grinding material as required
• Cutting material using cutting torch

QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

• Red Seal Welding certificate or equivalent qualification.
• 2 – 3 years post qualification experience
• Knowledge of various power tools
• Knowledge of various hand and workshop tools is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety Rules
• Must be physically fit and not have fear of heights
• Previous experience in a physically demanding working environment would be advantageous.

• Accurate setup, adjustments, operation and maintenance of machinery/stands/ mechanism in the production line process
• Conduct daily inspection of relevant work area and report possible failures or unsafe working conditions
• Maintain standard machine operating procedures when operating machinery
• General maintenance and cleaning of the work area/workstation you are responsible for
• Must enforce and practice housekeeping policies
• Effectively monitor production process
• Ability to analyze potential failures and communicate accordingly with possible solutions in a timeous manner
• Ensure shift handover is conducted thoroughly and that all issues are reported clearly on a daily basis
• Abiding by the regulations as set out in Occupational Health and Safety Act and Company policies
• Quality control according to set standards
• Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) as per tasks assigned
