    Junior Project Planner (12-month Fixed Term Contract)

    • The Senior Planner is responsible for the delivery of project planning and progress measurement, ensuring that Hatch procedures and best practices are applied, as appropriate, and recommending changes to the Project Controls Manager where required.
    • The Project Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the project master schedule to meet the project objectives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Safety

    • Have a strong personal commitment to safety
    • Take personal responsibility for safety incident reporting
    • Embrace Behavioral-based safety ethos
    • Take personal responsibility for stopping any unsafe behavior as and when it occurs, and thereafter reporting the safety incident so that corrective action may be obtained
    • Have/gain familiarization with Hatch safety processes, protocols and procedures.

    Project set-up

    • Meet Functional Managers to setup and finalize FEL2, FEL3 and FEL4 project schedules
    • Conduct interactive planning meeting with Functional Managers to finalize project schedules
    • Confirm level 1and 2 project schedule and critical path and set baseline for project implementation phase

    Project master schedule development

    • Confirm and refine FEL2, FEL3 and FEL4(level 3) scheduling
    • Identify and schedule critical vendor data requirements
    • Populate approved measurable commodity quantities and labor to produce baseline S-curves for FEL 4 Execution projects
    • Participate in project schedule risk analysis and include resultant contingency in baseline
    • Maintain schedule basis
    • Using progress reports (early and late curves) and project schedule (level 3 baseline); maintain, optimize and monitor progress. Identify and resolve issues
    • Develop FEL4 level 3 commissioning schedule for execution projects
    • Analyze contractor level 4 schedule and provide recommendations. 

    Project schedule monitoring and updates

    • Generate and verify weekly updates and issue progress reports
    • Maintain and optimize schedule, monitor progress, highlight and resolve schedule issues
    • Generate all progress curves
    • Develop and maintain commodity and resource profile
    • Extract and publish four-week look ahead schedule
    • Monitor slippages and critical and near critical paths and discuss with Project Controls Manager for resolution w Establish all equipment/ material and contractor ROS (Required on Site) dates
    • Provide schedule input to the procurement bid process including reporting requirements and vendor and contractor milestone dates
    • Assist with bid evaluation and ongoing management of the vendors and contractors with respect to their schedule commitments.

    Project trend and change management

    • Once a change is approved, maintain and optimize the schedule, monitor progress and highlight/ resolve areas of potential concern.

    Project progress measurement and earned value

    • Generate and verify weekly updates and issue progress reports
    • Obtain progress info via progress reports, EPCM status report, vendor progress report and cost report and calculate progress for construction packages

    Essential Skills

    • Tertiary qualification in engineering or other relevant discipline or appropriate substituted experience
    • 3-8 years experience as a planner in a multi-discipline project environment
    • Sound technical knowledge in a multi-discipline environment
    • Knowledge of the estimating and tendering processes
    • Knowledge in the use of Primavera Project Planner P6
    • Technical overview of work methods and techniques
    • Risk management principles
    • Good knowledge of project management principles
    • Knowledge of forms of contract will be a definite advantage.

    Preferred skills

    • Interpersonal and good communication skills in the areas of both written and verbal communication. Need to be able to setup schedule review workshops and present the schedule and logic to the entire project team.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office package)
    • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Planning and organizing
    • Problem solving and mitigating skills
    • Presentation skills

    Senior Contractor Engineer - 12-month Fixed Term Contract

    • The Senior Contracts Engineer (CE) will provide senior level assistance to the Resident Engineers (REs), Chief Resident Engineer (CRE) and Engineer/Project Manager with regard to coordination and management of contract administration activities.
    • The Senior CE will report directly to the RE. VERY IMPORTANT: please note this will be a resident site position and R&R is limited to one weekend a month.

    The Senior CE will assist the REs and CRE to:

    • Administer construction contracts in accordance with the applicable Conditions of Contract.

    In this regard the Senior CE will assist the REs and CRE in the:

    • Interpretation of the Contracts including the processes relating to the adjudication of claims.
    • Coordination with the Chief Design Engineer, REs and CRE to ensure timely distribution of construction drawings to the Contractor and the supervision staff.
    • Coordination with the Quantity Surveyor and RE to ensure that all survey work required for measurement and verification of quantities is carried out timeously.
    • Evaluation and approval of financial submissions from the Contractor after due consultation with the REs, CRE, Employer and the Contractor where necessary, in respect of:
    • Monthly statements and payment certificates, and
    • Amounts to which the Contractor considers himself entitled in claims.
    • Provision of support to technical staff with reviews and comments on technical submissions from the Contractor such as, Programme, Design modifications, Method Statements & Procedures, Contractor’s Proposals, Contractor’s Designs &, Drawings and Maintenance Manuals.
    • Evaluation of the need for Variations after due consultation with the REs, CRE, Employer and the Contractor and coordinating the issue of Variations in accordance with procedures agreed with Employer.
    • Provision of support with respect to formulation and issue of written instructions to the Contractor after due consultation with the REs, CRE, Employer and the Contractor as necessary;
    • Coordination, review and formalisation of standardised quality control and contract forms.
    • Provision of support as necessary to ensure maintenance of construction supervision records and progress reports, technical records (including geotechnical test results) and Instructions, as well as records of all other appropriate site information such as weather, labour etc.
    • Evaluation with RE of requests to subcontract and providing consent to subcontract.
    • Coordination and contributing to the overall reporting requirements on progress, costs, cash flow forecasts, financial reviews and the Contractor’s performance with regard to Preference targets, as well as provision of timeous notification to the Employer of potential deviations from the project objectives.
    • Regular liaison with the Employer and the Contractor on technical, contractual and financial issues, as well other outside parties on matters relating to management and interpretation of the contract through the REs, CRE, Employer and the Contractor; and
    • Provision of support and facilitation with the resolution of disputes between the Employer and the Contractor up to and including the process of amicable settlement, but excluding any further preparation for and participation in any legal or arbitration proceedings unless MSKC is expressly instructed by the Employer.
