    Project Manager

    Description

    The opportunity

    • We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Project Manager to join our team. In this role you will be leading, managing and delivering large scale government infrastructure projects and ensure that all related activities are performed in accordance with company policies, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environmental requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.
    • You will be supporting the organization in process improvement to continually increase the effectiveness of project execution.

    How you’ll make an impact           

    • Overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of the project including planning, budgeting, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines. Develop comprehensive project plans and milestones including resource allocation, risk assessment and quality management. Manages planned activities including schedule difficulties accordingly. Assure valid Project Safety plan is in place and executed on highest industry standards.
    • Serving as the primary point of contact for client and consultants, internal project teams and company operational management. Ensure clear communication and coordination among stakeholders, addressing project challenges and maintaining transparency. Manage client and consultant expectations for a successful project. Escalates customer difficulties to management with solution-oriented action plans. Assures Hitachi energy commitments to customer are met, in accordance with contract. Collects customer feedback and prompts the submission of customer satisfaction surveys. Attend and facilitate client meetings and workshops.
    • Providing guidance on technical aspects of design, construction and commissioning. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure compliance with client and industry standards, safety regulations and project specification
    • Preparing and managing project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality. Monitor financial performance (Revenue, Margin, Cash flow), handle contract negotiations and oversee procurement processes.
    • Understanding Project/Client terms and conditions and the impact upon the contract. Lead Contract management team for effective Contracts and Claim management to ensure scope compliance and effective Change management.
    • Implementing and monitoring quality control measures to guarantee the delivery of high-quality outcomes
    • Forthrightly presents an account of project status/issues in project reviews. Reports status/ progress to customer and other stake holders with appropriate detail. Raises potential project issues to relevant stake holders.
    • Developing a comprehensive Risk management strategy including early identification of project risks, defining mitigation strategies. Constant monitoring, reassessment and presentation of Risks in internal and external Project reviews
    • Defining and executing Project Procurement plan and coordinating with SCM department to issue internal and external Purchase orders and follow up on deliverables until completion
    • Leading and mentoring Project teams foster a culture of excellence, collaboration and accountability. Identify skill gaps providing training or hiring resources as necessary.
    • You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

    Your background          

    • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
    • 10 years of work experience within relevant fields.
    • Substation and HV experience is essential.

    • Exceptional communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
    • PMP certification.

    Local Service Unit (LSU) - Sales Manager

    Description

    The opportunity

    • We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Local Service Unit (LSU) Sales Manager – South Africa to join our team. In this role, you will be collaborating closely with the Hub Sales team, working together with Country Local Sales Manager (LSM) and the local Front-End Sales team and the market managers and sales teams of the Product and Systems BUs, and across Hitachi Energy.
    • The LSU Sales Manager will be responsible for the dedicated Service Front End Sales team (if any) and shall coordinate the Marketing and Sales Teams under the Country Level Service units under the LSU Manager to ensure a one Hitachi Energy Service approach to our customers including collaboration with the Service Sales teams of HVDC Service sales team and Grid Automation Service Sales team. 
    • Ensuring operations are executed and optimized to deliver exceptional service quality that exceeds customer expectations. This role will directly report to the Service HBU Manager.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the global operations BU Service strategy, driving process and tools standardization development, and continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with other regions to continually enhance effectiveness of operational execution with the highest standards of safety, integrity, quality and service delivery for the entire region.

    How you’ll make an impact            

    • Adopting, planning, and implementing hub service sales strategy based on the Hub BU M&S and Service GPG strategies and targets related to the entire service portfolio (lifecycle management, service products and solutions, and IB penetration). Lead the sales teams in delivery and exceeding targets in terms of orders, GM%, response time and customer satisfaction for the full-Service portfolio. Responsible for accurate Sales order forecasting by use of SFDC and improving data quality. 
    • Participating in negotiations of major contracts to secure service orders volume.  
    • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and partnerships. Generating and identifying service sales leads by analyzing the IB potential. Work with the account managers to develop service focused account plans for the country. Work with Segment managers and channel managers to identify and pursue leads in the country. Responsible for the LSU Budgeting, sales and operations planning in coordination with the Hub M&S manager, the GPG Marketing managers and the Hub Controller.  
    • Establishing long-term customer relationships with key customers and decision-makers by working with the account managers, the Front-end Sales and the Product BU’s M&S teams. Bring value to the customers by understanding the requirements, regulations, exhibiting our value proposition for service and ensure customer satisfaction issues are registered and responded to by the team. Collaborate with Business Units and account teams to position different service offerings, evaluate and share relevant information on installed base data, sales leads, customer’s, competitor’s solutions and marketing trends with the team. 
    • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on delivery of Service Level Agreements (SLAs). 
    • Developing pricing strategies in the country to maximize profitability in collaboration with Global M&S Pricing Manager BU Service and with the PSC’s pricing managers. Conduct detailed market analysis to inform pricing decisions. Enable the Service sales team organization to deliver the growth of the business by being responsible to ensure training and increased capabilities are achieved. Support the team by participating in sales activities when needed.  
    • Implementing and executing the e-commerce strategies to support the Service growth ambition. 
    • Supporting and taking lead when needed for marketing activities and events (trade shows, conferences, customer events) in the country in coordination with the Hub M&S and Global M&S BU Service. Support product launches by implementing the commercialization plan for the country as other promotional activities for the country.  
    • Ensuring that the inside sales organization and tendering process including the Risk Review process is followed and respected and that the risk assessments related to price and quality, register required information into the appropriate customer database, ensure technical reliability, safety, best solutions to satisfy customer’s needs and complies with health and safety directives. 
    • Collaborate closely with local stakeholders in WCFE and the account management organization to align strategies, implement best practices, and leverage synergies in marketing and sales operations. 
    • Staying updated on technological advancements and market trends to proactively identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation in service offerings to support the BUs vision (Horizon X-Y-Z). 
    • Establishing long-term customer relationships with key customers and decision makers by understanding the requirements, regulations and exhibiting high expertise in technical solutions and products. 
    • Ensuring customer satisfaction issues are registered and responded to by team
    • Supporting the team by participating in sales activities when needed. 
    • Responsible for feedback on sales development, distribution of resources for service sales activities and the current status of the market.  
    • Collaborating with Business Units and account teams to position different service offerings. 
    • Evaluating and sharing relevant information on installed base data, sales leads, customer’s and competitor’s solutions and marketing trends with the team.  
    • Monitoring client financial status and reports any changes regarding risk to relevant internal partner teams.
    • Identifying and managing potential risks relating to contract agreements across customers/channels. Drives health and safety practices in own unit.
    • Monitoring customer expectations and requirements related to HSE and Sustainability

    Lead Design Engineer

    Description

    The opportunity

    • We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Lead Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be coordinating project engineering activities - preparation and review of project engineering deliverables, monitoring of contractual scope, variation & change orders initiation, technical discussions, liaising with all stake holders on technical matters, monitoring engineering effort for projects and tenders etc.

    Your responsibilities:

    • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines substation projects and tenders.
    • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholder for scheduled progress of projects and tenders.
    • Reviewing of equipment specification and BOQ for supplier enquiries, technical offer review, monitoring and coordination of supplier deliverables, resolution of technical issues during FAT etc.
    • Following the engineering processes, change management, risk and opportunities management and other relevant processes during project execution and tendering.
    • Coordinating with customer/consultant for document approvals as per project schedule.
    • Coordinating with site team for technical matters during installation, testing and commissioning, punch point closure etc.

    Your background

    • Detailed domain expertise in one of the domains (either primary or secondary) is a must. The candidate must have the knowledge of other domains for effectively monitoring and supervising the regular project engineering activities.
    • Primary engineering of GIS and AIS substation, layouts, earthing, cabling, lightning protection, sizing calculations, BOQ estimation, RFQ, supplier offer verification, FAT, MV system etc.
    • Secondary engineering of GIS and AIS substation, protection, relay panels, LCCs, SCADA/RTU/SCMS etc., FMS/DFR, Telecom, control cabling, CT/VT sizing, sizing calculations, BOQ estimation, RFQ, supplier offer verification, FAT, MV system etc.
    • Engineering of Auxiliaries of GIS & AIS substations, LV AC boards, service/auxiliary transformers, earthing transformers, DC system - batteries and battery chargers, UPS, inverter, security system, CCTV, access control, EPABX, sizing calculations, BOQ estimation, RFQ, supplier offer verification, FAT, etc.
    • Experience of coordination with civil and MEP disciplines in the substation, inputs for civil and MEP engineering, interfaces, coordination check with civil & MEP services etc.
    • Experience of preparing BOQ, deviation list, clarifications, technical proposal for tenders and customer enquiries for firm and budgetary tenders.
    • Understanding of installation, testing and commissioning requirements to effectively support the preparation of testing protocol, site activities.
    • Minimum 10 years of work experience is required of which 3-4 years of experience in a lead role is preferred.
    • Proficiency in both spoken & written English.

    Legal and Contracts Manager

    Legal Support to Ground Transportation Systems Business:

    • Responsible for drafting, negotiating, preparing and managing the contracts to be executed from proposal to completion of projects, including partnerships and supply chain.
    • Work closely with operational functions and help in elaborating relevant contractual solutions and identifying contractual, legal and compliance stakes so that risks are detected, measured and mitigated.
    • In compliance with the relevant Group policies, the Job Holder will interface with external counsels and law firms for analysis and management of specific legal issues in the framework of complex contractual and/or legal arrangements.
    • Provide legal guidance, advise and promote legal awareness.
    • Manage Resolution of Disputes and Litigation relying on local law firms.

    Corporate Secretariat, Governance & Board Office:

    • Provide expertise in local legal and contractual systems related to GTS business activities in South Africa.
    • Draft, update, Implement and monitor the Governance rules and delegations of authority/signature in line with Hitachi Rail rules and local laws.
    • Perform secretarial responsibilities for corporate bodies (Board(s), General Meeting(s) and Management Meetings including related preparation and documentation.
    • Responsible for addressing corporate law, governance and compliance aspects for GTS SA.
    • Draft and sign on behalf of shareholders the statutory resolutions required for the compliance of companies with local company laws/regulations.
    • Secure the legal sustainability and continuity of GTS SA, particularly to adapt to changes in laws, regulations and succession of management.

    Legal Accreditations and Documentation:

    • Manage, update, renew and archive legal and contractual documents.
    • Monitor the timely updating and renewal of local administrative documents.
    • Manage the legal qualification and local legal accreditations of GTS SA to be qualified to perform business and commercial activities in compliance with local regulations (including B-BBEE regulations requirements).

    Compliance:

    • Be the GTS SA Compliance Officer as defined in applicable instructions.
    • Manage trade compliance incl. export control.
    • Responsible of the deployment / management of RGPD rules at GTS SA and provide trainings whenever requested.
    • Contribute to the implementation of Hitachi Rail Group / GTS ethics & compliance standards, and as such participate notably to the deployment of an ethics & compliance communication and training plan.
    • The Job Holder will assist the GTS SA Country Captain in addressing audit reviews (internal and external), corporate law, governance and compliance aspects for the Companies.
    • Ensuring GTS SA`s compliance with the Group's / GTS` directives as well as with applicable laws and regulations, including Trade compliance, Competition Laws Compliance, Data Protection Compliance, Anticorruption Compliance.

    Litigation management:

    • Review, in coordination with relevant GTS / Corporate stakeholders, progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers whenever requested.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

    • A Master's degree will be added advantage
    • 2/3+ years of relevant experience in In-house Legal, contracts and commercial management in local and international environment with exposure to Public Procurement contracts, Corporate Laws and Trade compliance.
    • Experience in working in a multi-national company
    • Experience in Company secretarial works
    • Experience in bids and projects in South Africa
    • Practice of BBBEE regulations
