    Non-Motor Claims Assessor

    Role Objectives:

    • To effectively validate, adjust and report on assigned claims. Ensure containment of claims spend and provide fair & timeous claims settlement by benchmarking a culture of best practices within mandated responsibility.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Review and validate building & contents claims to determine legitimacy and extent of damage claimed.
    • Assess damage and estimate repair costs with a view of containing spend to below pre-determined ACPC.
    • Positively contribute to the claims saving and impact to loss ratio as stipulated in the performance contract.
    • Verify policy coverage and limits
    • Conduct on-site inspections and evaluations when required
    • Negotiate settlements with policyholders or contractors.
    • Know and understand market trends and building rates, in line with company policy.
    • Ensure compliance with Industry regulations and company guidelines
    • Identify potential fraud or inflation of claims
    • Provide support during reinstatement of property by managing submission and allocation of tenders, when required.
    • Provide support to Internal Risk Surveyors & Procurement, when required
    • Advise underwriters of claims revealing adverse risk features as soon as they are evident.
    • Support business with AI implementation as a business toolkit.
    • Seek solutions to potential disagreements and conflicts
    • Maintain a high level of service to all stakeholders identified (internal and external) according to the service standards set
    • Communicate in a professional manner with internal and external parties and respond to escalations within a pre-determined turnaround time.
    • Keep concerned parties abreast of claims status and development
    • Ensure adherence to Claims Framework Policy
    • Work with and support the claims teams in the regional offices as well as manage relationships with loss adjustors and specialists. 
    • Required Knowledge and Experience    
    • Sound knowledge of the Building Industry
    • 5+ Years of non-motor claims assessing experience
    • Sound knowledge of Personal & Commercial Claims experience, which includes:
    • Claims procedure
    • Insurance terminology
    • Legal knowledge (prescription act, insurance act, FAIS)
    • Underwriting knowledge (ability to interpret policy wording, understanding how claims information impacts on underwriting)
    • Advanced risk assessment knowledge (understand the assessment process, with an ability to appoint a specialist when required)
    • Reinsurance and treaties (basic understanding)
    • Product knowledge
    • Financial knowledge (estimates, premiums, co-insurance)
    • Claims Trending
    • Ability to work under extreme pressure
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel
    • Self-management skills (can organise work, space, time)
    • Communication skills (Can express oneself in a succinctly)
    • Accuracy in the analysis, interpretation and basic calculations of data pertaining to claims settlement/estimates.
    • Accuracy in the capturing of data to the core business system

    Motor Assessor: Western Cape

    Role Objectives:

    • To establish quantum of damaged vehicles for example fire damaged accident damaged and or stolen and recovered vehicles that have damages.  
    • Suggesting the final costing for either repairing the vehicles and or suggesting uneconomical to repair whichever is most cost effective.
    • Manage repair process and ensure and end to end facilitation, from point of conducting assessment and establishing a fair and reasonable repair cost, to quantifying additional and further managing and auditing final repair costing, to ensure financials are in order.
    • Protect Hollard from being over exposed from a risk management point of view. Cost containment of motor book. Drive motor culture.
    • Implement head office protocols – Parts Sourcing, salvage process.
    • To contribute to the growth and profitability of Hollard by accurate risk assessment.
    • Enhance the image of the company through the continuous delivery of efficient and effective customer service.
    • Foster effective relationships with supply chain partners.
    • Technical support to branches and brokers through the supply of accurate information to ensure the most informed decision can be made by business.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Technical expertise: Assessment of damaged vehicles, determining what repairs are necessary, authorisation of repair work and ensure that all invoices received are relevant.
    • Responsible for the authorisation of suitably costed repair estimates in line with agreed rates, methods, and timings. Where initial estimated costs cannot be agreed, negotiate revised costs and methods in the best interest of the customer.
    • Appoint repairers according to Hollard’s preferred Motor Body Repairer panel and execute BEE strategic requirements.
    • Conduct constant work in progress audits at repairers to manage and check whether repair allowances are being followed through by appointed repairer.
    • Key deliverables and measurements: Average Repair Cost, Total Cost of Claim, Repair % against sum insured value, Total Cost % against sum insured value, Average w/o cost, w/o ratio %, parts ratio %.
    • Support the reduction of 'vehicle off road' time by challenging methods and processes to ensure customer inconvenience is minimised.
    • Promote the fair treatment of customers in decisions and actions undertaken.
    • Adherence to system procedures and requirements.
    • Take accountability for decisions made and ensure at all times any action taken is followed through with effective communication to the relevant stakeholders and pro-activeness in terms of Service Delivery, according to the Hollard Way
    • Ensuring at all times TCF is adhered to through having the necessary discussions with the respective clients.
    • Evaluate risk and management of risk; quantum; work in progress; final costing; vehicle substitution; quality assurance.
    • Partnership management: Build strong relationships with role players in partnership agreements and ensure adherence to partnership agreements. Interact frequently with colleagues, brokers, MBR and the insured in a professional manner.  Ensure SLAs are observed.
    • Assessment reporting: All assessment reports to be completed within timeframes stipulated in service level agreements i.e., 48 hours turn-around time
    • Innovation: Ongoing research into issues affecting motor at Hollard. Participate with senior management in initiatives around product development, processes, policy, and strategy.
    • Branch support: Local branch support in terms of technical aspects of claims.
    • Continuous Process Improvement: Ensure full compliance to all processes, policies and procedures and identify areas for improvement.
    • Reporting: Produce required reports timeously including detailed analysis thereof.
    • Recordkeeping: To be kept up to date at all times.
    • General: When required perform any other duties necessary for the operational effectiveness of the company that is within your ability and scope.
    • Customer service: Maintain a high level of service to customers (internal and external) according to service level agreements and within the service standards as set by the company. Promote the fair treatment of customers in decisions and actions undertaken.

    Consumer Education and ESG Project Manager

    Key Responsibilities

    Consumer education:

    • Update consumer education report monthly with activities done in that month and send to finance team.
    • Save all the required evidence for the verification agent monthly (invoices, proof of payments, etc.).
    • Set up, prepare (toolkit, registers, evaluation forms, certificates, booklets), manage logistics (transport, and sometimes flights & accommodation) and catering, and (sometimes) facilitate StreetWise Finance sessions with various audiences.
    • Collect registers and keep track of number of people reached.
    • Manage stock levels of training materials.
    • Manage consumer education budget and how it should be allocated across the licences and that all rules accordingly to the consumer education guidance note are met.
    • Draft/update contracts with service providers.
    • Update and review training material when needed.
    • Review marketing material and work with marketing team to design and order new collateral.
    • Run with meetings with internal and external stakeholders and take and manage minutes and actions from meetings.
    • Review spend for all four licences monthly and compare to consumer education report to ensure they align and if not, to investigate further.
    • Explore new, impactful, effective ways to spend the consumer education budget in line with our shared value model.
    • Create and roll-out pre- and post-session surveys to measure impact.

    ESG:

    • Monitor, evaluate impact and report on existing initiatives.
    • Explore new initiatives that fall within our shared value model and focus areas.
    • Project manage new initiatives to completion.
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to get new initiatives up and running and to ensure effective running of existing initiatives.
    • Run with meetings with internal and external stakeholders and take and manage minutes and actions from meetings.
    • Manage spend on each initiative and ensure within budget constraints.
    • Engage with the marketing team on setting up / creating brochures, presentations, webinars, etc. to share information on our initiatives with all Hollardites.

    Required Knowledge and Experience    

    Experience

    • Sound multi-functional stakeholder management and engagement experience
    • Sound experience in the non-life insurance industry
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management
    • Experience in the consumer education and/or ESG space is a plus
