    Manager: Regulatory & Commercial Support

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • To assist the Executive Head of Risk and Compliance with the implementation enhancing and maintaining the regulatory controls within the financial services division as it specifically relates to insurance, payments, lending and investment products and services.
    • To ensure that there is proper oversight and management of  outsourced partnerships. 

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Regulatory and Commercial support
    • Interfacing with, monitoring and advising on pending, anticipated and new legislation and bills that impact on the business. 
    • Preparing business impact assessments and training to the relevant business teams to ensure readiness to comply with new laws.
    • Ensuring compliance with current regulatory environment, internal policies and relevant contractual agreements in accordance with an internal compliance plan.
    • Sourcing and providing reference materials and doing relevant legal research and providing legal opinions and advice regarding interpretation of laws vis-a-vis the company’s operations, from time to time.
    • Develop appropriate Terms and Conditions and Contract for New Products as may be launched from time to time.
    • Preparation/vetting and execution of legal documents [customer and supplier contracts and other types of commercial agreements] in conjunction with the Vodacom Group Legal division. 
    • Ensure timely renegotiation and renewal of customer contracts prior to expiry as well as engaging with the outsourced service providers to provide oversight and assess levels of risk and compliance. Recommend areas of improvement and identify action items to be put in place to rectify areas of non-compliance. 
    • Coordinate engagement and Interface with industry regulators to ensure that the Company’s licenses and other statutory obligations are up to date, following up and ensuring that any requests or pending applications of the Company receive attention to conclusion.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by the EHoD: Regulatory, Risk and Compliance from time to time. 
    • Stakeholder management 
    • Analyse complaints (internal and external) for trends and report’s findings to relevant stakeholders 
    • Liaise with External Regulatory Stakeholders ie. Various Ombuds, NCR etc. 
    • Engage with Internal (Project Support) and business stakeholders. 
    • Assist in the implementation of  the compliance training and awareness program
    • Assist management to create a compliance culture and with embedding compliance principles, values and sound business practice into existing training mediums
    • Assist management to create new mediums of communication to enhance compliance awareness and knowledge within the company
    • Financial Services Lending regulation analysis and documentation 
    • Assists with the analysis and documentation of regulatory compliance requirements especially as it relates to credit lending opportunities.
    • Develop risk management plans for relevant legislation and maintain a regulatory universe for lending.
    • Assessing the risk of changes to Regulatory Environment
    • Identify and track changes to existing and new laws 
    • Impact analysis across business processes and systems

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree is desirable and a Master’s degree will be an added advantage
    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a legal  and/or regulatory role prefereably in a financial services company or a fintech.  
    • Specific experience in dealing with Insurance Regulators, Lending and Payments Association of South Africa (PASA).

    AI / ML Big Data Lead

    Role Purpose:

    The AI / ML Big Data Tech Lead delivers through self and others to:

    • Use their knowledge of ML/AI and combine it with programming and software engineering skills to enable easier use of and access to the Group unified datalake, AI and ML technology stack to enable the development, deployment and operation of AI/ML models and related data & analytics. 
    • Work closely with the Group International Markets Data Science team, Local markets IT and Commercial stakeholders to enable Cloud Data Lakehouse capabilities that enable and ease the AI/ML model and analytics development, deployment, and operations. 
    • Lead and shape the team of Software Engineers, ML Engineers, and DevOps Engineers in the Group AI / ML and Big data cloud capability design, development, deployment and operations.
    • Enable and support the Group International Business (IB) Data Science Team, IB markets and Group functions in deriving business value from the Group AI / ML and Big Data cloud big data unified platform. 

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Lead and shape the design and develop AI / ML systems and capabilities.
    • Lead and shape the Cloud Big Data application and infrastructure DevOps design, development, and deployment of standardised and repeatable patterns. 
    • Drive the automation of AI / ML predictive model software, including model training. 
    • Enable the automation and productionisation of  data science prototypes through configure driven capabilities and develop ML apps according to data science requirements. 
    • Ensure streamline, secure and digitised flow of data in the Group unified lakehouse to enable effective AI / ML model execution and delivery, and secure ML outcomes in real-time or batch to the IB markets systems of engagement. 
    • Drive the overall Cloud Big Data architecture and solution design to evolve the Group cloud big data capabilities (reusable assets/patterns) and components to support the business requirements/objectives.
    • Stay abreast with latest trends and research of AI / ML and cloud big data technologies and methods to improve delivery and sustainability of big data, AI / ML applications and services. 
    • Make contributions to the process of defining best practice for the agile development of applications to run on the Group cloud big data platform. 

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

    • Advanced degree in Computer Science/Math/Statistics/Engineering or a related 
    • Relevant cloud certification at professional or associate level
    • 8+ years in Data, AI and Analytics or related software engineering experience
    • Exposure and experience with delivery of GenAI applications.
    • Agile exposure, Kanban or Scrum

    Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

    • Experience managing the development life cycle for agile software development projects.

    Product Owner - Mobile Money

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • The Product Owner represents the business stakeholders and is the voice of the customer guiding individual DevOps teams, responsible for ensuring that the delivery team delivers value to the business according to the outcome vision
    • This role is responsible for the definition of customer-centric items or user stories from the capability/feature roadmap defined by the Product Manager, ranking and prioritizing them, and adding them to the team backlog
    • This role will work closely with the Release Train Engineer/Agile Programme Manager and Scrum Master in coordinating day to day activities such as sprint planning, retrospectives and other agile functions to ensure collaboration and effective delivery of user stories against commercial milestone objectives
    • Product owner works to Agile principles, and will be responsible for the prioritization and delivery of the backlog of change initiatives to maximize business benefit of the products and features we offer. The role works closely with the team to develop business and product strategies, user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria and full business benefits, and convey the vision onwards to our in-house Scrum teams, or, where required, to our Offshore development partners

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Own, drive, and focus the team on delivery of business value and content
    • Develop and define user stories / items and acceptance criteria from the feature and capability roadmap defined by Product Managers
    • Rank and prioritize user stories / items and add them to the team backlog for sprint development, conveying a clear vision of what is required to be built
    • Approve the final release plan and accept all deliverables against defined user stories and acceptance criteria
    • Analyse and report delivery risks and opportunities, and engage stakeholders for communications and decision-making

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field
    • A total of eight (8) or more years experience of which at least 5 or more years are in the successful delivery in Product Ownership (or equivalent role) across full product lifecycles, from MVP to marketable products in iterations, including support transition
    • Experience in successfully Leading and mentoring agile / DevOps teams in Large multi-team environments
    • Experience in agile methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming (XP), Test Driven Design and Behavioural Driven Design
    • Experience in successful delivery against financial / resource constraints
    • Experience in the use of analytics and AB / multivariate testing
    • Experience with requirements definition and use case modelling
    • Professional experience and knowledge of the Telecommunications  & Mobile Money and Value Added Services industry is strongly preferred

    Release Train Engineer: Payments

    Role purpose:

    • The Release Train Engineer is responsible for the planning, coordination, and deployment of all releases into production within a particular domain or business outcome
    • This role is responsible for identifying, managing, and mitigating cross-program risks and issues, in order to facilitate on-time delivery of capabilities and features aligned to the business outcome vision
    • This role is responsible for working closely with the domain or business outcome Product Manager and supporting Product Owners to coordinate delivery of capabilities
    • This role is responsible for defining release readiness requirements against business outcome needs and validating readiness before release into production

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Execute Agile Release Train based on agreed PI objectives

    • Drive multiple release planning sessions
    • Facilitate the resolution of impediments and risks within span of influence. Once an impediment is outside of a Scrum Master’s span of influence this role will step in to remove or escalate the impediment
    • Work with other program leaders to drive the definition and refinement of the program backlog and execution alignment.
    • Maintain metrics that provide visibility to stakeholders on program-level plans, progress and quality.
    • Support Product Owners with various requirements gathering and scrum activities as needed
    • Help to assure value delivery
    • Aggregate team objectives into programme objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency
    • Assist with execution and feature/capability completion tracking (KPIs/metrics)
    • Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings (Scrum of Scrums and PO Sync)

    Tech Lead/DevOps Contributor

    • Oversee squads focused on technical issues, including software development, product releases, and engineering tasks. This includes collaborating with colleagues to address technical issues and evaluating the team's work processes and best practices and implementing changes to streamline operations. 
    • Create and implement risk mitigation processes and oversee security audits to determine weaknesses in applications.
    • Coordinating the efforts of product development teams with that of operations teams across the ART. This includes heavy involvement in both the worlds of development and operations. 
    • Play a key role in the development of new ideas for products and services and manage the process of turning these ideas into realities. This could include participating in product brainstorming meetings, overseeing the creation of product mock-ups, and identifying possible design flaws until the resulting product is satisfactory. 
    • Work to set up the process by which the product will be produced on a larger scale and figure out how it will be distributed to consumers.

    Solution Design Contributor

    • Play an important role in the development cycle, ensuring the quality of requirements and directing the activities of the design team. This role requires excellent attention to detail, as the RTE frequently needs to work with the solution analysist and participate in translating them into a solutions that align with enterprise-level systems.
    • In addition to guiding the squads, this role is responsible for participating in the research on existing systems and devising solutions that work within those systems.

    The RTE is ultimately responsible for the Release Train and has to ensure the quality of :

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

    • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field 
    • Eight or more years’ experience in coordinating and delivering major projects and programs 
    • Extensive experience in managing dependencies effectively across multiple delivery teams, meeting deadlines and business outcome objectives
    • Experience managing multiple vendors, and managing delivery with the vendors
    • Formal training and/or certification in Scaled Agile Framework or similar preferred
    • Certified Agile Coach, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or similar
    • Extensive experience with one or more project/program management methodologies, such as PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile and MSP and across a range of project types
