    Production Scheduler

    Job description

    Ref No: SDS/TS03/JUN17

    Primary Job Purpose:

    Facilitate the optimal extraction of gold ore from mining operations through the leadership of a comprehensive production scheduling service that achieves short to medium term production & development targets ensuring maximum return to the business. The incumbent will also assist with the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly production and infrastructure schedules.

    The appointee should:

    • Be in possession of a BSc degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Engineering or Mineral Resource Management related discipline
    • Have Supervisory/Management training
    • Have at least 6 years underground experience with exposure to longhole drilling, blasting, ventilation, projects, planning and scheduling – preferably gold
    • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and mining software such as Datamine, Mine 2-4D,Deswik
    • Have sound underground production and planning experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine
    • Have exposure to longhole open stopes,
    • Understand production rates and capacity mapping
    • Have an understanding of geotechnical designs
    • Have an understanding of the Mines Health and Safety Act.

    Advantageous:

    • Exposure to a variety of different ore body types and models
    • Exposure to different mining methods and associated economics
    • Exposure to operational and strategic plans

    Tasks and Key Responsibilities:

    • Competent in the use of scheduling software applications, preferably Deswik
    • Report writing and presentation skills
    • Ability to work unsupervised
    • Able to work as part of a team and foster team building
    • Ability to train and pass on knowledge
    • Ensure that all members of the mining, engineering and Technical services teams have clear understanding and direction of objectives by leading and controlling the coordination of regular meetings, ensuring deliverables are accurately recorded and distributed.

    Chief Planner (Medium Term)

    Job description

    Primary Job Purpose:

    The Medium Term Planner is responsible for creating and leading the comprehensive medium term mine planning strategies. This will include leading and directing mine plan designs along with associated budgets and ensuring efficient capital allocation. The incumbent, in addition, is responsible for ensuring effective cross functional coordination between geotechnical, geology, mine planning, survey and production and to ensure efficient and effective technical services are provided. The incumbent will take the long term plan and develop it into more detail, which includes infrastructure planning and resource allocations. The role will also include the facilitation of technical services specialist inputs into the plan and coordinate authorization processes. The development of a rolling annual forecast monthly will be required

    The appointee should:

    • Be in possession of a Degree in Mining Engineering, Mine Planning or Mineral Resource Management related discipline.
    • Be in possession of a Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Advantageous)
    • Have at least 10 years’ experience in mining and/or mineral sector with Management/Leadership experience, accompanied by underground production and planning experience
    • Provide Leadership and technical direction of medium term planning
    • Ensure cross functional coordination to ensure the overall operational performance objectives and SHEQ standards are supported
    • Develop management processes and systems: medium term planning (quarterly to year); mine development and stope design; stope database and reconciliation owner
    • Update plans monthly to ensure plans are on track and report reconciliation to plan.
    • Production spatial and total stope and development reconciliation.
    • Effective communication and co-ordination with production personnel and planners.
    • Produce forecasts at least quarterly.

    Advantageous:

    • Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency
    • Be in possession of a MDP or equivalent

    Tasks and Key Responsibilities:

    • Leadership and technical direction of medium term planning
    • Decide on changes in processes to achieve business results
    • Monthly and annual reporting
